"Sorrelclan is newer as well, we are growing fast though." He added the last part to not make his clan sound too weak. The water of the river flowed calmly ahead of him and he gazed at it, his eyes moving away from the black molly.



The three cats walked quietly, Rainpaw glanced around nervously. Heronstream turned his face to her,
"Don't be afraid of the forest, you are not alone to walk it. We are here." He meowed, attempting to comfort her.
"I-I know. It's just, there are more than just us out here." She stuttered. Heronstream sighed and stopped the group.
"Of course there are other creatures. Squirrels, birds, mice and more!" His tone suddenly softed, "You are part of a clan now. We will protect you." She gave him a shaky smile before letting her eyes dart to the bushes around them.
"Come on, Kestreltalon is waiting for us." the medicine cat mumbed as he led the group forward.

Moonshadow nodded silently. She did wonder how many cats his clan had, but decided not to ask. She then kept her gaze down on the water, unsure what to say. She had never been great at conversations.

Fawnthroat left camp, knowing she needed to find some herbs. She shivered a little. Leafbare was advancing quickly, and she knew she needed herbs now before it was impossible to find them.

Cloudstar traveled up north, Bouldershade had said he scented many cats and the leader wanted to check it out himself. He reached the meadow eventually and looked across the huge blanket of snow cover ground. His white pelt blended in very well as he made his way across the open space. It didn't take long to reach the dead tree in the middle of the meadow that signaled the border, he scented the air. To his surprise there was a marker for another clan, clearly saying that was their side. Would he wait for a patrol or just go confront them? Maybe he should get the others, but a fight during leaf bare would be no fun for any cat. So he waited, hoping for a patrol to go by as he sat under the dead tree.

"Shimmerpelt meant to protect you by not telling you about the tribe." Hawkfeather murmured, blinking at the silver tabby. "Life in the Tribe isn't nearly as easy as it is in the Clan. She joined Caveclan, hoping she'd never have to worry for the futures of her kits." Hawkfeather explained. Sedgetail was quiet for a moment before replying, "She never told us anything. Not about the Tribe and certainly nothing about our father. I'm not so much upset about the Tribe part as I am about the lying part. She let us believe we had no other family. She never said anything before you joined the Clan and recognized her." Hawkfeather blinked sympathetically at her. There was nothing he could say for Shimmerpelt about that. He'd done what he could but the rest was up to Shimmerpelt and her kits. Hopefully they'd talk later. The pair fell silent as they continued the trek back to camp.

Poppystar awoke from her quick nap, sneaking away from her worrisome and young medicine cat. It was true; the leader hadn't got much sleep since the clan had gotten started. It was unhealthy for her well-being but she didn't seem to mind. Anxiety was a fault that had always been apart of her. She heard a warrior of hers talking about a dead meadow filled with fluffy snow, that was where she was to head. The she-cat had also heard of strange scents marked across the borders.. maybe she'll run into a possible clanmate. She soon raced to the spot, she found it was a short trip up south. A cat! What a strange scent. It was a scent that felt familiar to the young leader, she just couldn't remember what it came from. "Hello? You don't smell like any outsider," she remarked; accidentally walking behind him abruptly. He was so white and thick-furred it was as if he blended into the snow. "Where do you come from?" she asked in a humble voice trying to not to scare the cat as much as she already did.

Momo visibly recoiled, tears stinging her eyes. She had only meant it in a teasing way and now Honeyfur was lurching around, hissing like the very act of being around the bobtail was painful. She took a step forwards and then several back. "I'm sorry? I didn't mean to upset you like this? Are you- are you alright?" The she-cat bit her lip, wanting to give the medicine cat a comforting nuzzle, though admittedly for more reasons than just comfort, but judging that such an action might just make Honeyfur lash out again and this time, at her. So instead Momo just stood there at an awkward impasse with the pretty she-cat that made it so hard to look away.

"I-I-I-I don't, I d- I'm sorry?" Barkknot stared down at her paw as blood cut lines through the dusty surface of her paw pad. It hurt and hurt and hurt and had brought her no relief. But staring down at the wound had given her a moment of startling clarity. Sorrel-Sorrelstar always said, "No matter what you think or what you've done, don't take it out on you. Your mind is stronger than your body and your heart stronger than your mind but each control themselves and you control them all." I'm sorry mom. Oh how confusingly comforting it was to imagine her mother's words instead of the Thoughts, but she doubted it would last long and doubt would come creeping back in. "I just wanted to stop the Thoughts. I'm not powerful enough to overthink them but this-" she shuddered and began to lap up the blood, "This didn't help. I-I wanted the keep them from overtaking me again but-but-" Barkknot sighed and kept her eyes on the stone before her. "What am I doing? What is happening? I was doing fine but then you came with your disappointed eyes and too-good-to-be-true kindness and I- I just want my mom." The prisoner swiped at the dampness of her cheek, but her tears flowed too freely to be cleaned like that. For the first time, in a long time, she just let herself cry freely. And the tears she had been holding back for too long, began to wash her clean.

The tom whirled around when he had not noticed the molly come up from behind him. He let out a low growl, ready to claw the cat's eyes out before he noticed the familiar pelt and the large and observant blue eyes that stared at him. Cloudstar stopped growling then and a look of shock crossed his gaze before composing himself "I am Cloudstar the leader of Briarclan. My deputy had told me of strange scents and came to investigate them, I did not know they were talking about a kitty pet." he meowed in a matter of fact tone. "Did you get lost? How did you end up so far from home, Ala-?" The fluffy tom asked but stopped short of saying her name, note entirely sure it was the same kittypet he knew from so long ago, the very cat he loved but never told.

Poppystar's head tilted in confusion. It was as if the tom was going to say Alaska, her old name which she considered to hold dear to her heart. Then it came to her. "Moka?" she yelled. A soft purr came to her voice as she brushed against his flank, "it is great to see you! I have been so worried about you since you left," she stated, now sitting down in a comfortable position in front of the cat. She didn't seem to notice his new name, nor her own, it felt as if she was in her old home again. "I would never expect to see you again," she said a bit bitterly. She held a bit of resentment for the cat leaving in such a rush. The she-cat couldn't blame him, the forest was as great as he told her. "Well.. I left. I got tired and bored without much company. After you learn of such a wondrous place you can't just sit still anymore," she replied to his almost forgotten question. The new leader licked her chest, slightly embarrassed of her outburst.

Cloudstar didn't bother to correct her when she called him Moka, it has been many moons since he had heard that name anyways. The tom couldn't help but feel bad when she mentioned the loss of company "They were taking me into some kind of monster and I couldn't let that happen. So I got away from them, your twolegs. I tried to stay and tell you what had happened but you know how hard it was to get in and out of your nest." He tried to explain to the molly, guilt was heavy in his voice. "Never would I have thought we would see each other again! Why don't you come and live with me in Briarclan? It can be like it was back then, we will have each other's company and Briarclan is growing strong. You will never be left alone." A hint of hope was in his voice as the opportunity to catch up with Alaska presented itself.
