1 x 1 w/ Ineffable Woes

"To be honest I don't even know my type. Apparently from the last one it is crazy." He smiled. "I don't even know what I look for. Probably personality compatibility. Looks just aren't enough anymore." Luke said, thinking of his last few girlfriends. They had merely been an entertainment thing for him and they had known that he wasn't fully into them but they used him as well. He wasn't proud of some of the things he had done but it wasn't anything as bad as cheating. He had been on the other side of that before and didn't enjoy it.

Rayne grinned and nodded, she could understand that one. She wasn't really sure what her type is, her brother kept telling her she'd find out in college, but really she just wanted to get through with good grades so she didn't mess with guys until she started working, really. But that was because they all started taking an interest in her, so the timing made sense that is was because she was a 'model' and apparently that was something guys wanted on their arm, an accessory. "Crazy sounds right. I've never taken anyone home to meet my parents, nothing has ever passed maybe five dates before they realise I'm not going to be their bit of eye candy or bragging rights. I'd hate that. I'm a soppy romantic type, I think. I get that from my parents though, they're constantly doing super sweet things for each other and I've picked it up as more of a habit, really."

Luke nodded, understanding. "I've had a few of those girls too. Only with me for the free photographs." He smiled. "I've brought a few home to meet my mom but it never lasted long after that. People think because I have money the rest of my family does but it's not like that. Mom won't let anyone support her." He smiled, thinking about how once he offered to get his mom an apartment as an upgrade. She practically through his out of the house. "I never really had an example in the love department. Dad was always gone" He spoke kindly about his family, cherishing every moment he had with them.

Rayne shook her head softly and rolled her eyes, people were shallow and cared only for what they could get, not what they could also give. That was her definition of love, it was like a jigsaw with a missing piece. If you found the right person, they were your missing piece but you were also theirs. It was an effort on both parts, not just one side, she found that never worked as she was always the one trying to keep things on the straight and narrow but all the other did was take and try to purely benefit from it without giving a single thing. "Mum's are difficult creatures." She gave a sad smile and offered a small comfort, hoping it would be taken as such, or that he would at least see that she did genuinely understand and it wasn't just her saying it to make him feel better. "I didn't get my dad until 5 years ago, so I understand how that is. I have it now, but... it isn't quite the same now I'm an adult and have it... mostly figured out."

Luke nodded, smiling softly. "It's good that you have their support and an example to follow now though. It sounds like they've done a lot for you." Her family sounded like they had truly adopted her into the family, unlike some other adopted homes where they did it for the money. "You will find the right person one of these days. I think it happens when you least expect it." Luke smiled, thinking of his sisters and how they had met their partners. He knew his time would come too, as long as he continued dating the ones that weren't right for him it would eventually lead to someone who he could spend the rest of his life with.

"Oh, definitely. I'm glad I got it when I did. I don't think I'd have gone to college otherwise, I wouldn't have this job, I wouldn't be on this holiday. So it all worked out in the end." She grinned softly and nodded as he spoke. "I'm a pretty firm believer in fate. I think if that kind of thing happens I'd know about it. I haven't known about it yet, so I've got plenty of time." The grin didn't leave her lips, her gaze flicking back to the darkening skies out of the window. "I can't decide what I should do now... Whether I ought to have a nighttime hot tub sesh or join in the party. What do you think?"

"Depends if you want to unwind or make some friends." He smiled. "If you're feeling extra social I would definitely choose the party but if you want to be kind of alone I would say hot tub." Luke knew that wouldn't be much of a help but it would really be up to her. After she left he planned on having a hot shower and reading one of the books he brought. Tomorrow he would get the lay of the land and maybe play mini golf or some other game to use up his time.

Rayne wrinkled her nose at the idea of being social right away, she wasn't even sure she'd be social much with the other cruise-goers unless necessary or politely in passing. She hummed in further thought and scrunched up her face quickly before having made her choice. "I think I may just run a bath, throw a bit of bubble bath in and soak in that for a while and then call my parents, I probably should do that too.." She let out a light chuckle and smiled softly at Luke, pulling her bag back over her shoulder, going into it for her room keys. "So, I'm sure I'll see you tomorrow. I hope you get a decent nights' sleep."

"That sounds like a plan." He said. Her bringing up calling her parents reminded him he promised a conference call with his family. Maybe he would do that before his shower. "Good night to you as well. I will see you around." Luke smiled at her, his eyes shining in the light that he had flipped on only moments before. He lifted his water to his lips and took a sip before walking over to open the door for her. "You can come over any time."

She gave another warmer smile to him as she got to the door. "The same goes for you, just walk on in, I change in the bathroom so you'll not need to worry about anything if you do just walk in." She pulled the door open and moved out. "Goodnight Luke." She smiled before closing the door, moving to her door and finally getting inside, locking it behind her, something she would always do after she would be readying for bed. She dropped her bag and keys on her bedside table and went into the bathroom to start running a nice hot bath. Rayne was glad that she had this holiday to share with Luke, he seemed like a decent guy, open and friendly, quite like herself, though she wanted to know more about him, curiosity could be considered one of her flaws.
