Nanook watched the wounded leader try to walk, although it was surely clear he'd get nowhere. Silly pride-dwellers, he thought, always throwing caution to the wind, no common sense... they wouldn't survive a day alone. One of the pride members ran off, and Nanook realized he would now be considered an even greater threat. He growled in irritation of the complication, but quickly realized that would sound threatening. He soon realized though, that they were so preoccupied with their leader that they were unlikely to notice him at this distance, so he continued towards the two still remaining with the leader. When he was only a tail-length from them, he sat down with a loud thump and said, "So sorry to interrupt this little... moment... but I'm looking for the humans. I think it's best if we kill them all now, if you understand my reasoning."

[OOC: Melody was confronting the other loner, Alik, so I figured if Aiko was by Melody then he'd be confronting that loner. x3 Also I think they're quite some distance apart, I'm not exactly sure where Melody/Alik were but as I interpreted it, it was farther from Zevran than Nanook. Haha, let me double-check the last couple pages to make sure I got it all right.

Edit: Okay, so ImmyWhimmy posted that Alik was by the group, and Melody plunged into the bushes nearby (I'm thinking no more than a couple yards?) to get at him, in which case the others (Zevran and the pride who were with him) would therefore probably know where Melody was. That's what threw me off. x3 So I was wrong, Alik and Melody would have been closer/same distance as Nanook. Okie dokie, moving on now x3]

Nanook

Nanook sat down calmly in front of the female, clearly demonstrating he wasn't concerned with being confronted by only one of the pride. "I just want to know where the humans are," he said coolly. "It sounded like they were being.... dealt with... if somewhat unsuccessfully, and although I do despise being around so many other of our kind I would like to get these humans removed as quickly as possible, because they are quite the nuisance to others than yourself... namely, me. So I've come to...help," he finished, tail flicking impatiently.

Aiko eyed the loner with suspicion but she threw it off and stood taller. "It was not unsuccessfully, it was just that there seemed to be more of them than what our leader could have thought." Aiko said defensively to the judgmental loner. Her tail was swaying back and forth, showing her discomfort and slight defensiveness to the loner, clearly not trusting him. "And by the way, I know that the humans are a nuisance to others in this forest. We try to take care of them when we get the first signs that they are here. So don't go judging that we can't handle it, because our kind is suppose to protect these lands, even if we are in a pride, it only means that we have more numbers and able to counter-attack against said humans so do not go judging the ways of a pride, let alone our capabilities of taking care of the humans." Aiko said full of frustration, and with a slight huff.

Nanook sat through the pride-dweller's little speech, and when she was finally done, he spoke again. "I'm sure you've got a handle on it," he said, a slight edge of sarcasm in his voice, "but I would like to dispose of them as quickly as possible. And if your pride were to lead a counter-attack, that would clearly imply that you first gave them time to attack you, which would further imply that you were not handling them as quickly as possible." He paused for a moment to let the female process his words, then remarked dryly, "And your leader is.... temporarily disabled, after all." He looked at her steadily, raising his chin, and could see the uncertainty in her eyes. "Do not be too proud to accept help, even from a loner. It is better than making enemies, is it not? And besides... if I was here to do you or your 'family' harm, I'd do it after you took care of the humans so I wouldn't have to do so much work myself," he concluded lazily, inspecting some dirt lodged between his claws.

Aiko recoiled like she had been hit, slightly growling to the loner for his arrogance and his sarcasm, her fur rising with her oncoming anger. Aiko has a history of having a very short temper when someone who she was talking to didn't see her way, so it was quite often that she would have these little tantrums of pure rage. How dare he! she thought to herself. She quickly took a deep breath to calm her anger. "They are a family, though I suppose you don't know what it's like to live with a pride. Something must have happened to you to detest prides so much. I won't ask because it is not my place. But lets get one thing straight, if you have someone you want to protect, you would do so in any way possible. Even if it is to throw your own life away. The world doesn't revolve around you, it is there for everyone." she said flatly and started to turn her back to the male. "As far as I know, I do not know if there are anymore hunters. If there are, they might be at a camp somewhere. I sense that there are more to the east anyways." she said one last time before slipping away from him and went to go see Melody and the other loner.

"The Defiant"

The female muttered something under her breath at the male. His demeanor only further irritated her, causing her fur to bristle up on end. Phoenix huffed again, no longer looking up at him but watching the other AGD's from not far off. She took a couple more steps forward and then stopped, glancing up at the male in the tree. "Bummer." She said sarcastically. Her eyes flickering like fire.

Phoenix sighed, pushing off the thoughts of hunters and even the male. She was formulating where she was going to go next. She didn't want to stick around here for long. She had to hunt, get some nourishment- as it had been days since she had eaten. Her stomach growled at her and clawed for her attention. Reluctantly she looked back up at the male. "Any good food around these parts?" She called up, swishing her tail lazily back and forth.

Aiko's words hit Nanook worse than a human's bullet could of. His cool attitude was gone all too quickly, and he was on his feet and charging after the female in the blink of an eye. He whipped around, digging claws into the ground to force his body into a jarring stop in front of her, and stood tall with eyes blazing. "You say something must have happened to me," he growled, "and yes, it's true. But it's obvious nothing ever happened to you. And for the record, there's no need to throw your own life away if somebody else tries to do it for you!" he roared. Nanook paused, glowering down at the female, and in the back of his mind realized how foolish he was acting. But it didn't matter, he was too angry, too prideful to back down. "Love is an illusion," he growled quietly, so his words could just be heard by her. "And you'd better learn it." He sheathed his claws and whipped his tail around. Nanook's racing heartbeat slowed and the fire in his eyes burned down to a mere ember, and when he spoke again his words were much calmer. "I'll go, but if I find any humans on my territory I'm coming back here to take care of the problem myself," he said, eyes narrowed. He grew quiet, finally reflecting on how stupid and explosive he was, and laid his ears back before turning sharply and padding back to his own territory at a slow, plodding pace.

Omen pushed off a carcass of a deer that he had stored up in the tree earlier in the morning. "There you go, have at it." Omen said, uninterested. He slightly looked down at the female while his eyes were glowing, the emotions within his eyes said that he was irritated just as much as she was, along with something hidden, something strong within him. "Now, if you do not mind, I'd rather leave." he stated before he stood up on the branch and jumped onto another, doing this process until he was about ten feet away from the young female.

Aiko's temper grew as the male had yelled in her face. She tried to bring it under control as she ran towards the male and turned around in front of him. "You do not know anything about love, do you? If you love something, you want to protect it. And I just so happen to love my pride, so I will protect them with my life. Now, until you learn that feeling, you wouldn't understand anything about it. Because I know, I was once a loner, was saved by this pride. I respect them, I love them with all of my being and want to protect them. There is always a chance to open a heart and see what things could happen." She spoke with a soft tone, her anger dissipating altogether when she was explaining her love for the pride. "Love isn't an illusion, sometimes bad things happen but out of those bad things, there can be something good, something more." she looked into the loner's eyes as she slightly smiled, hoping to have some affect on him.

Nanook flattened his ears and his tail flicked in annoyance when the female came back to preach about her "love" again. He could tell not all her words were simply in anger, and struggled between hurt and rage - the best defence was a good offence, as he always told himself. Eventually he said, almost in a sigh, "I know about love. I loved my brother once - until he tried to murder me by throwing me off a waterfall!!" he finished off with a loud snarl. His eyes widened as he realized that he'd just so freely given out his deepest secret, and he hurriedly tried to cover it up - maybe she wouldn't remember it if he got over it quickly, like it was just a fly he'd swatted at. "Nothing good ever came of that!" he spat. He tried to tell his paws to take him away from this stupid female and her stupid mind tricks but it seemed like they were rooted to the ground, so he stood in angry silence, waiting to see if she'd reply or give up and walk away.

Aiko looked at the loner with sad understanding eyes. She may not know the feeling of a sibling trying to kill her, but she does know a thing about betrayal. She took a deep breath, "I may not know what went on in your past, or why your brother did that to you, but I do know a thing or two about betrayal. You are not alone in that department." she said slightly and lowered her head slightly. "But something inside me clicked and I hated everyone and everything when I was betrayed. But over time, I learned that no matter how much I hated everyone, there was always someone who would take the time to show me compassion and love. I always questioned it, always wondered why they would do that. Then I found out that they didn't want anything from me, that they just wanted to express that they, too, can love anyone or anything no matter what you feel like. You could hate the world but in the end, the world would always love you no matter what you do or did in the past. And sometimes you need to open your heart a little to feel that love again, to let it warm your inner being, to light a fire within you and to warm you to your very core." Aiko said to the loner. "And I'm sorry, I should have mentioned this sooner, but my name is Aiko." she said with a slight bow and straightened up again.
