[Veins Of Opal]

Lucien frowned as she didn't tell him what was wrong, just the inadvertent, 'I'm fine'. "I'll get some for you. And I took a contract," Lucien replied, getting to his feet and walking to his room. He opened his drawer with a bloodied hand, grabbing the bottle of painkillers and walking back down the hall to the girl on the floor. His hair was a mess in its' pulled back fashion, and he had blood splatters on practically every article of clothing and visible skin. At least the fabric was dark, and it should wash out... He knelt down to Tessa, holding the bottle out. "Now, mind telling me what's wrong?" he spoke calmly as he knelt at the ground, his syrup-brown eyes watching her as she clutched her stomach.

[Soooo I've had a rough day at work. I'm avoiding everything. Imma come over here and hide in this little corner and play happy music for a while...]

When Lucien left to grab her some pain killers, Tessa heaved a sigh of relief and leaned her head back against the wall with her eyes closed. Ah, to not move is bliss at a time like this. Lucien returned in his silent manner, his presence unapparent to Tessa until the bottle of pills rattled near her. She cracked open an eyelid and eyed the bottle for a moment, lifting her gaze to Lucien's face when he pushed for specifics. "Actually, I do mind," she replied grumpily. "But if you're gonna prod like that, I suppose I don't have a choice. I'm on my period." She gave a scowl and took the bottle from Lucien, fumbling with the tight lid for a moment before giving up and dropping her hands to her lap.

Tessa continued to glare glumly at Lucien for a moment, her shoulders sagging as she wallowed in a generous helping of misery and self-pity. She studied his face in the brief period of silence, huffing at his messy appearance. "Look at this," she mumbled with a sigh as she lifted a hand to his hair. "You're a mess." Her fingers ran through the flyaway strands in an effort to push them back before she pulled the band out entirely. "If I remember correctly, not a strand fell out of place the night you tried to kill me. What's up with that? Turn around, let me fix this," she finished, one hand holding Lucien's hair band while the other made a twirling gesture.

Lucien frowned as she replied, giving a mental sigh of 'Oh, this will be so pleasant...' Not. "Because, I didn't kill you. I'll just say I enjoy my job," and as she reached back and pulled the band from his hair, he gave a sigh. "There's no point in putting it back in until I shower, I've got blood in my hair," he chuckled in that velvety smooth voice of his, shaking his head. His dark brunette hair framed his face, and it was a bit different, seeing as he didn't often have his hair down. With the crimson splattered on his skin, and a glint of insanity in his dark eyes, he had a dangerous beauty about him. "It's odd; you actually don't seem to mind my profession. Why is that?" he inquired, staying in his place.

Lucien's answer satisfy Tessa. She doubted that his hair would've magically gone askew like this if his blade had made it into her heart that night. She still remembered his deadly smooth attitude he presented to her as she frantically escaped. It was like trying to escape the hooded Death himself. Blegh, bad memories...

Lucien refused to turn around, so Tessa put the band around her slender wrist and took to trying to open the bottle again. With a grunt and a final effort, she finally got the lid to open with a pop of protest. "I dunno," she answered with a shrug. "Maybe I just have no moral center. Maybe I would mind if I actually thought long and hard about what you actually do. But I don't." Her eyes wandered about the hallway as she spoke. "Someone's gotta do it. There'll always be hackers and assassins and outlaws, so it might as well be us, ya know?" She looked down at her hands to find that she'd accidentally dumped more than just a couple pills into her hand. Rather than putting them back and trying again, Tessa actually eyed the pile as if considering downing the whole bit. Yeah, she wasn't thinking straight...

Lucien gave a nod to her response, his eyes gravitating to the pill bottle as she dumped more than plenty of the white capsules into her hand. He frowned, reaching out and picking a good few out of her hand, until she had two. "That's enough for now. I don't want you seizing on my floor from an overdose," Lucien chuckled dryly, taking the pill bottle from her and placing the extra pills back in the bottle. "So, do I need to make a run to the store for you? Or do you want to come along? Because I've never needed to buy those products," he asked of her, giving an exasperated sigh as he leaned back, sitting on his rump.

Tessa blankly watched the number of pills decrease in her hand before popping the remaining two into her mouth and swallowing them dry. Lucien suggested a store run and she nodded in agreement. "I wouldn't be surprised if I sent you to get tampons and you came back with popsicle sticks," she teased half-heartedly. "Yeah, I should come with you." Despite having made the decision to accompany Lucien, Tessa made no move to stand. In fact, she did quite the opposite. She flopped. Down she went, dropping lazily to the ground and curling back up into a ball. "What if the pain killers aren't working? Maybe I should have more," she mumbled as she closed her eyes.

Lucien scowled at her light-hearted jest, though gave a small chuckle. "It hasn't even been five minutes since you took the pills. Calm down," he grumbled, getting to his feet. "I'm going to shower before we go. I assume I won't get the best reception in town if I'm covered with crimson," he spoke, turning and walking down the hall to the bathroom. He shut the door, quickly undressing and stepping into the shower to scrub off the blood and wash it out of his hair. He didn't take too long, and once he was finished, he stepped out and dried off. He wrapped a towel around his waist, stepping out into the hall with his damp hair down, passing Tessa as he went into his room and shut the door. He took a moment to get dressed, putting on some black slacks and a white button up shirt, as well as tying his hair back in its traditional ponytail. He slipped some shoes on, then stepped back out into the hall. Lucien looked to Tessa, giving a sigh. "Tell me when you're ready, and we'll go," he said with a sigh, leaning against the wall.

"Okay." Tessa's reply was quiet and sleepy, though she did not doze off while Lucien was away. His shower was surprisingly quick and Tessa's attention was pulled towards the quiet woosh of the opening door only a few minutes later. Her eyes followed Lucien's feet down the hallway, subconsciously gravitating towards his towel-clad butt just before he turned into his room and shut the door. Had she been in a clearer state of mind she probably would not have spent the remainder of her time thinking about Lucien's rump, but hey. Painkillers, period, sleep deprivation... she had a list of excuses.

She snapped out of her thoughts when Lucien returned and leaned against the wall, fully dressed and ready to go. Well darn. Now she had to get up. With a groan that was probably not wholly necessary, Tessa pushed herself up to her feet and padded barefoot down the hallway to the door that led to the garage. Meh, she was too lazy to locate her shoes.

Lucien watched her as she got up, and he gave an exasperated sigh. "Oh, come on," he started, "it can't be that bad. Quit over-reacting," he told her grumpily, frowning as she ignored putting shoes on, and continued for the door. He went to his room, grabbing his keys off of his dresser, then turning and following Tessa to the door. He'd just use Vicente's car. Surely the man wouldn't mind... He was keeping the vehicle at Lucien's Fort, so he had a right to use it! He moved in front of Tessa, opening the door and stepping out, first. He went to the car, opening the driver's side door and unlocking the passenger door, before sliding into the seat and slipping the key into the ignition.

Tessa shot a glare towards Lucien upon hearing his remark, silently mulling over that comment until she got in the car. She buckled her seatbelt and settled in, taking her time in crossing her legs CCA before whipping her head about to eye Lucien. Okay, maybe her punches weren't that great from Lucien's perspective, but maybe she'd get the point across when she landed a slug on his arm. POW! "Ever had a mix of the flu, west nile virus and bipolar disorder? Because I pretty much have. Periods are that bad!" Once she'd finished chewing him out for his comment, she crossed her arms with a "hmph" and looked straight out the windshield.
