Blackmere Academy~Year 1

Misty sank down lower in her seat when she saw Drew. She wasn't afraid of Drew ratting her out, she just didn't want to be seen by the girl. Misty hasn't spoken a word to her roommate since she moved in, for no reason in particular, she just didn't feel comfortable around anyone who she has to share such close quarters with. Weird, but it was normal Misty. She watched as Drew batted her lashes and smiled while talking to Riley and giggled to herself. It was such an odd display of affection, something she'd never do herself. Maybe guys went for that. That must be the reason why guys didn't seem interested in her. Did it matter? Why would someone like her? No one even knew her. Misty stroked Jonas' head and sighed through her nose.

"Hey look it's Medusa! The girl who's only friend is a stupid snake!" The teases barely phased her, if anything, the boys were just too loud. Misty sat on the ground with a much smaller Jonas drawing on the sidewalk with a stick of green chalk. If only they would just talk quieter, they were hurting your ears. Why wouldn't they shut up? They keep talking and talking and talking... she could make them shut up. She looked down at Jonas and he flicked his slender tongue, making her smile. There was no going back. Her mind was set on making these three boys stop talking. She picked up her snake and without hesitation he bit her hand, but quickly let go. Blood dripped from the two puncture marks in her hand. Dark red, nearly black... poison. With her free hand she tossed the snake at the boy closest to her and screams followed. As the second boy tried to kick Jonas away she quickly slapped him across the face, making sure her blood splattered into his eyes and mouth...

"Hurry up Riley!" She yelled from the car, and reached forward to honk the horn for good measure. She was ready to go home.

((sorry, I was busy with the end of the school year. Plus now I'm going to be gone for 2 and a half weeks. I don't know whether or not I will have internet. If I don't, just ignore Danny I guess, and later we can pretend he was with everyone all along but just kept to himself.))

Danny Fonzarelli
Danny flicked on the light and closed Dorm 2's door behind him. He yawned so wide he though his jaw would break. Or unhinge, like he once heard about pythons doing from his ancient Biology teacher, Mr. Krepsy. It made his jaw feel funny just thinking about how freaking weird that must feel.
I must really be tired, thinking about stupid Mr. Krepsy. Groggily taking off his tennis shoes and switching his jeans for basketball shorts, he glanced at the clock. 1:40 AM the red numbers glowed back at him loudly. Eh, so it wasn't that late. Jacob and the others weren't even back yet.
Before coming to Blackmere, Danny would have laughed at the thought of a full night's sleep. He felt vulnerable when he slept at night after an incident with a would-be robber in Baltimore. So he usually just slept in snatches and grew accustomed to never being fully rested. But Danny knew he tended to make careless mistakes when he was tired, and that was the last thing he wanted to happen right now.
His bruised shins protested as he flopped into bed. Whoops, too late to prevent any careless mistakes. He thought dryly, burrowing under the covers. As usual, he was freezing cold.
Danny lay there, thinking about how strange and new everything was. A school, just for kids like himself. Who knew such a thing existed? What would his papa say? What if he and Toni had found out about it when she was still alive? Would she be here with him now, safe, making friends, playing with the light and flashing her trademark happy-go-lucky smile at everyone?
Oh, Toni. His heart ached. Here I was, wishing I was anywhere but here, when you would have given anything to be here.
The teenager closed his eyes tightly and drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

(It's okay, Solo. Busy week for everyone)
Riley smiled, unamused. "Pretty boy? Eh, if you say so," and then he nodded in agreement. "You're right." He was about to stroll into the building when he heard the honk. He turned around quickly, his eyes narrowed slightly. Nobody touches the car. He rubbed his face and waved at her, to show he was hurrying and he jogged into the bar. "Jake?" He yelled. He turned a corner, his eyes going over all of the people and faces. He met Nicholas and Katerina on their way out. "Nicholas," he said. "Do you know where Jake is?"
"I saw him head out the back, probably to puke his guts up."
Jake groaned and nodded. "All right," and he headed towards the back door. Riley opened it up, not wanting to drag a nauseous Jake into his car when he froze.
A man, wearing a ripped up leather jacket, black pants and black combat boots, held Jake by his throat. Holding him against a wall a couple feet off the ground. Jake’s legs kicked uselessly as he tried to breathe, his tan face pale.
“Jake!” Riley shouted, already hating the fact that he left his bow in the car. The only thing he had left was an arrow, but what use would that do? The shadowkai whipped it’s head towards him. He looked like a regular man, except that his eyes were completely black, and Riley could see his veins were black instead of red. This is what happened when you were killed by a shadowkai. You became one.
It hissed and drop Jake, who landed hard on the ground, gasping and holding his throat.

:Drew Blackwell:

Drew just gave him a smile and laughed a little and then was on her way. She heard her roommate honk and smirked, I must meet this girl if she really just touched Riley's baby. she thought, laughing to herself. She was about to head out back to the alley behind the bar to strip so she can shift and head on back when she smelt the air smelling Riley, Jake, and something not normal yet not human. It made he skin crawl uncomfortable and her conscious was warning her that there was danger, but she still kept going if Riley and Jake were back there. When she turned the corner she saw the boys, Jake was on the floor holding his throat and the shadowkai was having a stare down with Riley. She hid behind a garbage can just inside of the alley close to the street, watching and waiting to see what would happen next.

Riley wanted to run to Jake's side, but he knew that the shadowkai had to be taken care of. The creature smiled and looked up towards the top of the building and Riley followed his gaze. His blood went cold. He could see three shadowy figures, all crouched in the darkness, but illuminated faintly by the moon. They all stood up as one, their coats billowing in the wind and whipping around their bodies. They leaped down, completely surrounding Riley and Jake. Riley ran to Jake and grabbed his friend, yanking him to his feet.

Misty waited impatiently for Riley to return, he was starting to make her mad. She just wanted to be home. If you want something done you have to do it yourself. She opened the car door and sighed as Jonas quickly circled around inside of her hoodie. He was antsy. She walked back into the bar, but what she saw stunned her. What was going on? Everyhting was fine when she left? How could things just go to hell like this. She knew that they were Shadowkai, even though she'd never seen one in person. This was the main reason why leaving Blackmere was such a bad idea. They could die. She reached into the pocket of her hoodie and fiddled with her thumbs, watching. What could she do? Her power was useless if she couldn't get close. She didn't want to get close. The urge to kill was pulsing within her, but her face betrayed nothing. The urge to kill... what a dirty thing. Her hand slipped under her hoodie and Jonas sank in his fangs. She winced as he pierced a major vein in her wrist. Blood would flow...her blood. Would they be able to defeat the Shadowkai before she bled out? It didn't matter. "Leave my friends alone you big idiots!" She yelled from the doorway.

Jake nodded at his friend and stood up, holding out his hands. Flame danced from finger to finger, and he flexed his muscles, feeling the warmth spread from his fingers across his body. He shuddered and narrowed his eyes. He focused the energy inside of him, glared at the shadowkai and pointed his palms at one. Fire shot out of his hand like a ray, searing towards the shadowkai. It engulfed it in flames, but they were quickly extinguised. A nearby shadowkai had flicked his hand and a gust of wind blew the flames away. The shadowkai smiled and then froze and turned towards Misty. It hisseed and sprung at her.

:Drew Blackwell:

Drew watched in silence behind the dumpster and decided maybe it was time for her to step in. So Drew shifted right there destroying the clothes she wore, Well it wasn't like I was gonna keep them anyway., she thought to herself. She sat there as a full grown tiger and shook her fur getting used to the feeling. She stalked out from behind the dumpster and stood watching with slit eyes in the middle of the alley ready to attack if needed too.

Misty almost grinned when the shadowkai lept at her. She was staring down the face of death. Was this what she wanted? To die? Jonas lunged from under her hoodie, jaws wide. His fangs sank deep into the creatures face, and his body coiled tightly around it's neck and chest. Misty's eyes grew wide. How easily could a shadowkai rip apart a snake? Even a snake like Jonas... he was still just flesh and bone. Misty glanced down at her wrist, which was still bleeding heavily and pooling on the ground. She moved without thinking, leaping forward and yanking her snake away from the creature. She smeared her blood into the open wounds on it's face, and it's howled in pain. "Does it burn, shadowkai?" She whispered maliciously, and cringed slighty when it bit down on her arm. "Jonas has more bite than you!" She challenged, hitting it sharply in the throat making it release her. The creature writhed on the ground, coughing and sputtering... and dying. It was dying from her poison.

Riley turned his head for just a second to stare at Misty in shock, horror and awe. He watched as the Shadowkai leaped at her, sinking it's fangs into her flesh. He watched her laugh and the shadowkai suddenly spring away, twitching and jerking, foam forming around it's lips until it was still. A second was all the shadowkai needed. It's fist connected with the side of Riley's head and Riley flew into the alley wall, cracking against the brick. He felt blood explode on the side of his head, his vision blurry. He groaned, a hand flying up to his head and when he pulled away, his fingertips were red with blood. He knew this wouldn't kill him, but it was definitely a concussion. The shadowkai put ti's hand up to his throat and Riley's eyes widened slightly. "Mark?!" he whispered, and the shadowkai snarled as if it hadn't heard him. Riley gasped in pain as the shadowkai's cold hand gripped tightly around his throat. He gasped for breath, his lips moving like that of a fish above water.
The shadowkai's head suddenly exploded in blood.
Riley was released and he looked up to see a hole in the shadowkai's head. It slumped down and a voice rang out.
"Come on, b*tches! Show me what you've got!" A figure emerged from the darkness, a black teenager, with a buzz cut, dirty leather pants, a black shirt underneath and a leather jacket. He waved his gun threateningly and the shadowkai looked at him and hissed.
One of them lifted their head slightly, to catch a breeze and it hissed. "There is one hiding," he whispered, a trace of his regular voice could be heard, but it was shadowed by a raspy hiss.
