Name:
Akari Seishen

Breed:
Leopard (Tail was ripped off during a fight)

Gender:
Female

Clan:
Cavallino

Rank:
Spy

Does your cat have the Sight?:
Yes

Sight bird:
- Kagu/Cagou: Rhynochetos jubatus
- Picture One
- Picture Two

Sight bird's name?
Kagu

Personality:
A bit of a hot-head, Akari is a bit rash and jumps into situations without thinking. This sometimes leads her to good fortune, but another time it left her dangling off a cliff. Another thing she does without thinking? Talking. This can get her into trouble, even though they always say to speak your mind. Sometimes, other cats take what she says as an insult, which is another reason why she was dangling off a cliff.
Even though she is a stubborn bull, Akari is very trustworthy, able to keep promises until her death bed. She may not agree with you at times, and she will proudly tell you that, but then again, she knows when to keep her mouth shut and just let you talk.
Another of her bad traits is her blood lust. Ever since her mother was captured and killed by the Velocia Clan, she went through a stage of depression where she ate nothing and spoke to no one. Soon after that state was her blood lust stage, and every time she went into the opposing territory, she came back with blood and fur between her claws and teeth. It was said that she even killed quite a few cats during that time, even though she never confirms nor denies this.
So, she has her ups and downs, but if you stay on her good side, you and Akari will get along just fine.

Skills:
- Quiet, has almost silent footsteps
- Without her tail she has lost balance, but at the same time she also doesn't have to worry about it dragging across the ground
- Sleek and thin, her mother once believed that she wasn't feeding her enough because of how small she was

Story:
“Are you seeing what I’m seeing?”
A stunned female leopard took a hesitant step backwards, extremely shocked by the scene laid out before her.
On each branch of the oak tree before them were dead cats, each one of them hung by a collar and chain attached to a branch. Each one of them stared into the distance with lifeless eyes, their essences having already left their bodies. Near the bottom was an adult female leopard that looked very similar to the shocked female.
“I see it.”
The source of the voice was a male black feline, his own mouth turned into a frown. He didn’t seem as affected by the sight as the fea, but it was clear in his eyes that he was still upset about the situation.
“Come on. Let’s go.” As the male turned to walk away the female remained in the same spot. Her tail had dropped to the ground and her eyes were pinned back against her head. Tear streaks led from her eyes down to her chin, and from the looks of it, she wouldn’t be moving anytime soon.
Finally, after a few hesitant moments, she opened her mouth to speak.
“Can’t we go check? I mean, maybe one of them is still alive-“
“Akari, you saw the exact same thing that I did. They’ve been here for days, and if they didn’t break their necks when they jumped then they either suffocated or starved to death. We just need to get back to camp before they find us.”
Even though it was not shown on his face, his voice quivered while he spoke, giving away the fact that he was mourning inside.
The leopard, Akari, felt the tiny sliver of hope she had flit away like a frightened butterfly, the life leaving her eyes as she dragged her paws and began to follow him back in the direction they came. Among those dead was her mother, and not only was it her mother, but it was the male’s as well.
After looking closer, you could see the faint rosette outlines on the male’s black pelt, noticing resemblance between the two siblings.
“We’ve failed.”
Those two words alone made each of the cats break down inside, their spirits shattered as they walked away from the dead.

Name: Bellatrix
Breed: Leopard [Mother was a Sudan Clouded Leopard, and Father was a pure black Javan Leopard.]
Lineage: Acamar was her father, Navi was her mother.
Clan: Cavallino
Rank: Lead Tracker (?)
Age: Young Adult, almost an adult.
Does your cat have the Sight?: Yes
Sight bird: Mintaka ♂ a Montane Solitary Eagle.
Personality: Bellatrix is not the most friendly cat you will ever meet, especially if it is the first time you meet her. She may is cocky, but she is only cocky when she can back up what she is saying, so most of the time. This cocky female is surprisingly quiet and would rather not open her mouth and listen to what you have to say. Bellatrix won't turn down a idea, even if she doesn't like you. She will say anything to you and honestly does not care what your rank is, unless you are her friend. As much as she hates when she if prove wrong when someone else pitches a idea better than her's but she'll consider it; you learn from your mistakes, right?

Unlike most females, who normally have tons of female friends, Bellatrix would rather have a few male and maybe one female friend. The reason why it that she connects better with males for friendship and females normally have more drama that males do not have; and when she was young she had come across one of the clans and the females had made fun of her for being blind in one eye and the males did not care because they had known how good she can fight. As a friend she will help you with anything you need or anything you need help doing. Bellatrix will risk her life to friends who will risk theirs for her. She hates seeing her friends upset or mad about anything and Bellatrix tries her best to make them feel better.

Skills:
~The Sight- She has mastered it when she was a cub, when Bellatrix was young she almost depended on it to survive.
~Stealth- Bellatrix had learned at a very young age that if you are not quiet and fast, you will not live to see the moon again.
~Quick Thinking- You have to be quick to think a, smart, way out of, or around, your own death.
~Light Footed- Though Bellatrix may not be the lightest or smallest of cats, she sure sounds like one. She is one of the quietest cats because she had learned through trial and error, thankfully it wasn't a error that killed her. While tracking your enemy, you have to be quiet or your cover will be blown and you have the chance at getting killed.
~Instinct- Even when she was young, Bellatrix had learned to trust her instincts. Though she is blind in one eye, she can probably see better than any other cat because she has this unusual connection with the earth that her mother had. Bellatrix can see her enemies when they are coming closer, then she had time to either run and hide or attack unexpectedly, if she knew that she could win. This also helped her grow up without being captured from a clan.

Story:

So you want to know about my life huh? Well, I grew up in a loving clan where everybody is friends and family. My parents never fought and I had awesome friends. My life was perfect. Ha! Yeah right. No one's life is perfect and mine is far from it. My parents were loners. Why? I have no idea what those stupid cats were thinking. But, you have to love them.

I was born during the full moon, so both clans were at war, and my parents were far up in the mountains where we weren't in any trouble. My parents were from separate clans, my mother from Cavallino Clan and she was the lead tracker, and my father from Velocia Clan and was the lead scout, I don't think you want to know how they met or anything because it isn't that special. Anyway their love got the best of them and they ran away together to have me.

Yeah, like I said I was born under the Full Moon and, thankfully, I was an only cub. My parents were both black so of course I was black too, but I was different from them because I had white speckled paws and my signature silver eyes. I didn't have a normal childhood or anything because I had to grow up fast. My mom had The Sight so I did too and if I didn't have it when I was young I would probably be dead by now. I met Mintaka when I was a young cub, though I never realized it then but he was always there to protect me and not annoy the heck out of me, which I though. Soon I mastered The Sight by the guidance of my mother.

I was a tough cub and never took no for an answer, which took the life of my mother. I was such a fricken' idiot! I knew that I had to stay back but no. I was probably a year old and it was the fifth full moon of that year when someone had discovered us hiding.

The clouds cackled as the wind swept through the forest. My mother, Mintaka, and I were hidden in our den trying to avoid the fight while my father was out there defending us. Then I heard my father roar in pain as he was attacked and my mother jumped up and ran towards the entrance of the den but stopped and looked at me. "Don't fallow me. Stay here Bellatrix." She warned me, but I was fallowing her already.
"Why? I'm not going to stay her and just watch!" I protested.
"Yes you will, you hear me?" Her voice had grown stern.
"No."
"Yes!" Before I could say anything else, my mother had already disappeared. I growled in frustration and clawed at the floor.
"What am I suppose to do Mintaka?" I asked my black winged Sight bird. "I'm not going to let her go around telling me what I can and can't do! I am not a little cub anymore and I can fight if they would just let me!" I shouted angrily.
"Bellatrix," Mintaka said in a calm voice, "don't get angry at them, they are just trying to protect you."
"From what huh? They were one of the best trained felines in their clans and they taught me everything I would need to know to defend myself!" I stood up and glared at him as he talked.
"Bellatrix you are still young and they still have stuff to teach you yet, now get back her before you get hurt!" He warned. I quieted my voice and narrowed my eyes.
"I am old enough to leave them, I have been for a while, so I don't need them to tell me what to do or you. If you want to stay then stay Mintaka. I'm not going to stop you." Then seconds after that, I trotted out the cave door then started in a quiet run after the scent of my parents. Mintaka rolled his eyes but flew after Bellatrix, after all he is her Sight bird.

Name: Rigel
Breed: Amur Leopard
Clan: Velocia Clan
Rank: Scout
Does your cat have the Sight?: Yes
Sight bird: Saiph ♂ a Bald Eagle
Personality: Rigel is one male not to mess with, he is easily angered and will not hesitate to hurt you if you anger him. As a fighter, he will defend his clan, the Velocia Clan, until his dying breath. He won't hesitate to kill any one of the other clan, especially spies. With his clan, Rigel will be outspoken and say what he thinks about the subject if he thinks his idea would be helpful. With a mate, he will do everything he can to protect them and he can become jealous easily. Though, Rigel will be himself with her.
And then there is Bellatrix, his cousin. There is a strong hate between the two of them. Bellatrix's father was killed by his brother, Rigel's father, and her mother killed his father which Rigel's mother committed suicide because of that. Which left them both without a family, but Rigel had a clan that taught him the rest of the things that he needed to survive. But, Bellatrix had to survive on her own with her Sight bird, and teach herself things that would perfect her Tracking technique and survival skills that she already didn't know.
Skills:
~The Sight
~Fighting- Because of his large size, he is just as strong and won't hesitate to show it.
~Intimidation- He is a large leopard, and has eyes like daggers that could scare almost any feline.

Cat's Name: Kavé (pronounced Kah-vay)

Clan: Velocia

Gender: female

Age: Young Adult

Species: Mountain Lion

Rank: Tracker

Does your cat have the Sight?: yes

What is your cat's Sight Bird?: Chickadee, male
Pic

Sight Bird's Name: Niko

Personality: Extremely quiet and mysterious, Kavé is a bit like a book in a foreign language stored on the topmost bookshelf; unreachable and unreadable to most. She keeps her thoughts to herself, and hides her emotions deep within. She feels that others must earn her trust and respect, and will not show any to those who she feels do not deserve it. She is untrusted by most, and many doubt her loyalty due to her inverted nature and because she was not born in the clan, though she doesn't have any recollection of life outside the clan due to the fact that she was brought into the clan when she was only about 4 days old. However, Kavé herself is very sure of where her loyalties lie, and that is with her clan, the Velocia, and it's leader. She would do almost anything to serve them, including dying, though she would prefer not to have to go that far. Her two goals in life are to 1) Help bring back the other half of the gem for her clan and 2) survive. Kavé loves the dark and the shadows, and hiding in them (her favorite part of it is that she can see things in the light but they can't see her), and is a keen observer of details, making her excellently suited for her rank as a tracker. Her secret dream is to one day be promoted the the rank of spy.

Skills: Steath, Instinct, Vision, camouflage and the Sight.

Story:
Summary: Her mother was a loner, who had left the clan after becoming pregnant to a male from the opposite clan and hadn't been able to face the humiliation and shame. Kavé's mother was killed a few days after giving birth, when a male leopard found her hiding spot on the night of the new moon, though luckily he didn't discover the cubs. Three days after this, Kavé and her sister, who had died of starvation, were found by a Velocia scout, and Kavé was brought into the clan and placed with an adoptive mother and siblings, with whom she enjoyed a pretty normal cubhood, with the exception of finding out that she, unlike the rest of her family, had the sight, which is how she found out that she was adopted. She discovered her Sight Bird, Niko the chickadee, soon after. A while after, on her third or fourth assignement, she was attacked by another leopard, thus giving her the scars on her ear and face. She managed to kill him, and kept a tooth from him as an earing as a token of her first solo kill. She has worn it ever since. And that is the summary of Kavé's life thus far.

Edit: eh, so what if it's long. Here's the full story. I'll try to make it smaller when I get off this iPod and into a real computer.
Full Story wrote:The night was darker than usual, even for a night of the new moon. The heavy cloud cover obscured even the faint light of the stars, leaving the valley shrouded in an impenatrable shroud of black. A scream wrenched the night air, echoing off of the towering mountains and reverberating through the souls of cats who moved stealthily through the night like spirits, on the watch for a kill. High up on one of the mountains, a female mountain lion shook in fear, huddling two tiny kits to her belly. In the dead silence, she could hear pawsteps creeping closer, ever closer to the cave in which she hid. She hoped, prayed to the stars that they would not be discovered. She pawsteps passed by the mouth of the cave and began to recede back into the darkness. She let out the breath that she had been holding as quietly as she dared. It seemed like she and her family might survive this night of death.

One of her kits sqeaked. The mother could only stare at it, listening with utter terror as the pawsteps stopped. Once again they began to pad slowly, delibratly, back in the direction of the cave. The mother cougar was frozen with dread. She could do nothing to stop the advance of whatever cat the pawsteps belonged to, nothing to save her family. She should never have left her clan on that fateful day, should have accepted the humiliation and shame. At least then her cubs might have stood a chance. She should never have tried to raise her cubs to the life of a loner.

She raised her head. Her time was up, the paws were derectly outside now. She might die tonight, but at the very least she was going to go out with a fight, and she was going to protect her precious kits for as long as she could. She stodd up silently, pushing her kits into the back corner, hiding them in the darkness behind her. And just in time.

"Well well well, what do we have here." Droned a male voice from the entrance. "What do we have here?"
A huge leopard, his coat the colour of the night, padded up, his lithe mouvements showing his deadly intentions. This was a night of death. He breathed into the cougar's face.
"Hello Karim." He said with mock happiness on his face. "How nice to see you again. But I did excpect that you at least would have found a much better hiding spot." He shook his head. "Tisk Tisk. We are going to have to show you a lesson."

The mountain lion, Karim, bared her teeth at him. "You can try." she snarled.

"My dear, I always try." He responded. And then he pounced.

Karim met him head on, and they grappled together, fighting for their lives. Karim was determined to live, to save her kits. The fight went on for what seemd like an eternity. But Karim was weaker, having had no clan to rely on during her pregnacy and birth, and even though she fought as hard as she could, she was tiring. Finally the leopard threw her off, and she hit the stone wall of the cavern with a dull thud, blood dripping form her wounds. She could not move, even as the male walked up to her.

"And now, you are going to DIE!" He spat in her face.

"So be it." She said, eyes full of loathing. "But you are nothing but a coward." She would say nothing more.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
3 days after the night of the new moon, a scout, scouring the mountains, came upon the cave. There was a strong scent of blood within it, and as he entered a gruesome scene met his eyes. The carcass of a mountain lion lay strew accross the floor, a pool of dried blood surrounding her. He shook his head. The days after the new moon brought many such things. The scout turned to leave, but a tiny sound emenating from the back corner of the cave stopped him. He turned around, and padded back, stepping gingerly over the remains of the cougar. There was another squeak, and the scout looked about. His eyes came to rest on a tiny heap of fur, a cub, huddled in the corner and mewling. Beside it there was another cub, but this one was dead. He looked back at the live one. It's eyes were still closed. If it did not find milk soon, it would meet the same fate as its sibbling.
The scout watched it, frowning. He would prably get in a lot of trouble if he brought it back to the clan, but he couldn't just leave it there to starve to death, could he? Maybe he should just kill it outright. It would be a mercy for the tiny kit. He bent down, setting his jaw in determination. But before he could bite down to deliver the killing blow, it looked up at him and wailed. He gazed at its tiny face. This kit was innocent, and try as he might he could not kill it. So he gently took its scruff, loose from near starvation, and carried it back down the slope. As he went, a breeze sewpt down from the mountain. He almost dropped the cub in surprise as the wind, in a voice faint but familiar wispered. Take care of Kavé He put the cub down gently at his feet. "K-Kavé?" He repeated, bewildered. Kavé it said again, and the wind faded away. The scout shook his head, picked up the cub, "Kavé", and began again to take the kit to his clan, the Velocia and it's new life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kavé glanced up at the sky, her eyes following Niko, her bonded bird as he flitted through the air. She had discovered that she had the sight when she had been very young, and had found Niko shortly after. She remembered that day; It had been bitterly cold, with a biting north wind coming down from the mountains. Dark, purplish clouds threatened snow at the edges of the valley, and Kavé's adopted mother had been eager to get Kavé and her other cubs, as well as herself, into shelter before the storm broke. But Kavé had wandered off to explore, absorbed in studying the patterns on a fallen maple leaf, totaly oblivious to the cold and wind until it began to snow.

Kavé remembered how frightened she had been as the wind picked up the flakes, which used to be fluffy and fun, and had turned them into sharp daggers of cold and thrown into her face. Confused and scared, she'd tried to remember which direction she had come from, but the whiteness was disorienting and she soon became lost. Shivering, she began to hawl her little cold body through the deepinging snow. Just as she was about to give up she bumped smack into a tree trunk. She huddled up to it, close to despair, but then she heard a small noise from above her. She looked up. A tiny little grey bird with a black cap and chestnut breast looked down at her. It chirped at her, a delightful little noise. Chicka-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee. She had blinked at it, wondering how it kept up such a cheerful attitude in a storm like this.

The bird fluttered down from its branch. It landed in front of Kavé and chirped again. Chicka-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee It said, but this time more like a question. Kavé stared at it. Then it flew off a little ways, and stopped. Chicka-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee. It seemed to Kavé like the little bird wanted her to follow it, and so she did. Again it moved off a bit, and again it chirped. Chicka-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee And Kavé followed. They did this fro some time, ignoring the storm, until Kave bumped her nose on something hard. She'd looked up, and she'd realized that the bird had led her back to the den. With the last of her energy she had bounded inside. Her adoptive mother had greeted her with licks and cuddles, glad that she was back safely. Kavé had looked back to the entrance, and standing there was the little bird. She had beconed at the bird with her tail, and he had come over. And they had remained inseperable since.

Kavé broke from her reverie, and glanced back up to the sky where Niko flew around in circles. She closed her eyes, willing herself to connect with him. When she opened them again, she was high in the air, looking down on the mountains from a true bird's eye view. She asked Niko to turn, and they sped away accross the sky. Niko landed higher up on the mountain face, where Kavé could see most of the valley. She looked down. She could see her own body laying almost out of sight farther down on the mountain. She should have hidden a bit more. Oh well, she would go back momentairly. She scanned the mountain face and the forest below, looking for any signs of the enemy. She was none. Still, she wasn't satisfied, and she scanned the sky. No other birds in sight.

Clouds, however, were a different story. It was an overcast day, the sky turned a dull grey from the thick covering of clouds who didn't yet want to let loose the rain they held in their bellies. To the east and the north, the clouds darkened to an almost black. Tonight would be exremely dangerous, even for a night of the new moon. With the clouds, there wouldn't even be any stars to give their feeble light. Kavé dropped her sight back into her own body and frowned. Her job as a tracker would get difficult tonight. She looked back at the clouds. She could only hope that the rain, at least, held off.

Night fell, and the darkness was deeper even than Kavé had thought it would be. She watched for mouvement from her hidden vantage point high in the mountains, and seeing none. She felt a drop of rain on her head. She shook it off, wanting to growl but knowing that it could give her away. She sighed as the rain drops began to fall faster and with increasing frequency, until it was pouring down in sheets. She resisted the urge to scream her frustration to the heavens. How was she supposed to be reporting on enemies when she could barely see in front of her face, let alone other cats sneaking through the darkness far below her.

Suddenly she froze, intinct telling her that she had a visitor. She crouched down on the rocks, and watched as a jaguar padded in front of her hiding spot. She breathed a sigh of relief as she realized that he was from her own clan. But she couldn't shake a certain feeling of unease, like someone watching her. She sat up straight. Like someone watching her? She spun around just in time to meet the attacking leopard head on. He was large for his species, and she was small for hers. With a sinking feeling she realized that he was much larger than her. He took advantage of this and swiped at her face. She ducked, but not fast enough. His claws tore through her ear and forhead, leaving behing them 2 bloody scratch marks on her face and two tears in her ears. She wanted to yowl in pain, but her training made her hold back. She merely gasped, realizing that this would probably scar. With renewed fury she dove on him lashing out with claws and teeth, using her smaller, lithe shape to dodge his blows.

He backed off for a momment, getting ready to charge. Kavé saw her oppertunity. He ran at her, gaining momentum and ready to use the full bulk of his body to crush her against the wall. Just as he was about to leap at her, she dodged to the side. As he tried to stop, Kavé lept, landing square on his back. He tried to roll her off, but she stayed on even as he rolled overtop of her. She pinned him on his side, and as he tried to get up she smashed his head back to the floor. She heard a crack, and he spat blood, and a tooth, out onto the rocks. He growled and threw Kavé off, getting to his feet. She landed hard on her side, knockinging the breath from her lungs. It came back quickly, but instead of getting back up, Kavé merely looked up at him, feigning fear and submission. Her opponant grinned cruely, showing that one of his upper canines was missing. It looked rediculous, and despite the situation Kavé had to smile. Then he charged her once more.

Kavé readied herself, gathering her legs beneath her. He carreened towards her, and once again leapt in for the kill. But it would be Kavé's kill, not his, for she lept and clamped her jaws around the throat of the leopard, and used his own momentum to tear into the flesh. He fell, landing on top of Kavé, who immediatly sqirmed her way out from under him. The leopard tried to get up, but his legs failed him and he fell, taking one last breath before his eyes glazed over and his chest stilled.

Kavé stood there, panting, fur plastered to her skin from the rain, which was still coming down in sheets. It seemed to her that she stood there for an hour, though it was really a matter of moments. Had she really killed him? She had. It was her first real kill. She turned away, and as soon as she broke from her trancelike state, her ear began to hurt. A lot. She became aware that what she had taken for warmer rain on her neck was actualy blood, seeping both from her ear and the twin gashes on her face. Gingerly she padded away, minful of other hurts. He had also clawed her leg, and though it wasn't very deep or large it still stung.

She padded silently away from the scene, keeping to the shadows, alert and watchful. The she stepped on something sharp, which dug into her paw pad. She held in a cry of pain, and looked down to find the offending object. It was a tooth, the same tooth she realized, that she had knowked out of the leopard's mouth. She looked at it curiously, then an idea came to her. She picked it up gingerly in her mouth and set it, pointy side up, on the stones. She knelt down, using her paw to position an intact part of her mangled ear over the tooth. Then she pushed down. It hurt more for a little bit, but it soon blended with the rest of the pain, and Kavé ignored it and her other wounds. Then she slipped back into the shadows and resumed her vigil, watching the enemy from the shadows until dawn should break over the horizon and the killing, for the most part, cease.

Personality:
Alder is a very haunted creature. He's extremely quiet, and only speaks if spoken to. This makes him a very professional spy. His heart had been torn out of him, but he's been convinced that he shouldn't be sad about the loss of his love. Alder believes that he should be happy and blessed that he'd met and loved such a lovely girl. He is capable of moving on, but only when he is ready to do so. He is very kind and takes into consideration the feelings of others. He is gracious, romantic and very sweet as well. All in all, he is a good friend to have.
Story:
Cub:
When I emerged out of the numb blackness that is known as sightlessness, I opened my eyes widely and took everything in. I was too young to stand, but I tried anyway. After wobbling, falling over, and letting out a cry of distress, Mother pushed me towards her warmth and I was calm again.
I will never forget my first memory of opening my eyes for the first time, it was breathtaking and I couldn’t have wished for a better moment. The view from our den wasn’t much, but from my tiny viewpoint those trees looked as if they were touching the vibrant night sky. In these short few months of my life, I began growing and exploring more of the world around me.
At almost a year, I met my to-be love, Layla. At the time though, she was quickly becoming my best friend. We did everything together and had many adventures. The one that stands out most was when we trekked into the forest after nightfall.

It was a sharp fall night and very, very dark. Though with Layla at my side, I was not scared. We had planned this moment for weeks..the day when we finally got to explore the forest, secretly of course. Our parents wouldn’t let us into the forests until we were at least 8 months old. At the time, I was six months and Layla was five months. We couldn’t wait, and just had to do it. Those big old trees were practically beckoning us with their waving boughs. I pounced into the forest first, closely followed by Layla. After getting used to all the new smells and sounds, we wandered a little. Eventually getting tired, we sat down and just looked at each other “Now what?” Layla asked me, and I merely shrugged “Dunno..where are we?” I asked her, she looked around once and frowned. An expression of worry came over our faces and I stood up, leaning up on a rock and trying to look around. Nothing familiar..I slipped off of the rock, tumbling down and wrenching my paw. I let out a yowl and we heard a bush rustle, followed by a growl. I wasn’t going anywhere, due to the wrenched paw. Layla was about to run for her life, but she thought about it and bounded to my side while we both awaited our fate. To my surprise, my mother padded out of the bushes with a look fit to kill. That quickly ended our adventure. But after that, we both agreed to never leave one another if either one of us was in need.

Adult:

As we grew up, we grew forever closer. Once we were becoming of age, we began seeing each other in the romantic sense. At this point in our lives, I had chosen to fulfill the life of a Spy, and she had taken on the Baiter rank. Baiters would be given to the other Clan, deceiving them. Most likely, Baiters would be killed or taken captive. Up until the time the Leader called her in to send her on a mission, I hadn’t thought about her rank. I couldn’t believe I’d been so ignorant! I was going to lose my love forever..the thought itself was crushing.

Layla came out of the Leader’s den minutes later, half in tears. She bounded up to me and pressed her face against my chest, and I purred sympathetically and sadly, nuzzling her and murmuring loving things in her ears. I knew that she’d been assigned to a mission that was practically suicide..And I planned to follow her.

The day it happened, I was numb. I could barely feel myself disregarding the Leader’s rule, everyone staying in camp except for the Baiters. But I followed her anyway..I couldn’t let her think that I didn’t care and that I would move on..because that isn’t the way I am. As I crouched there in the bushes, I began to think about what our life would be like if this stone hadn’t existed. I’d have my Layla, and we’d be a happy family by now. My attention soon snapped back to reality when the battle cries of the other Clan began to ring around the valley, and I knew her time was up. As soon as they began pouring into the clearing, I almost had to look away..They all came upon her at once. The moment before they took my Layla away from me, she sent me a look..it said everything that she ever needed to say, and then I knew, wherever she was going she would still love me and I would love her.

Story:
:: My parents died before I could remember. I was sent to be with another mother. Most of the mothers nursed their little ones near the base of the mountain on high cliffs difficult to get to to keep them safe and hidden. That's where I spent my life as an early cub. All I remember was playing with my litter mates, whom I was very close to. We always were playing though but it wasn't much fun because they were no good. I could always knocked them away easily.
:: As soon as I was old enough to wonder outside the den I was taken away and put right into the training program. This was extremely uncommon for any young cub. I suppose I showed true promise, but I didn't want to be separated from my step mother. She was so kind to me and I wanted to spend as much time with her as I had. Normally for young cubs they would go into basic survival training which involved learning to hunt and what to do if you were found alone in danger. I didn't feel special about getting the privilege to skip a level. I wanted to play with my friends.
:: My mentor was extremely strict. If i didn't master a skill right the first time I was punished. My punishment involved running up and down the side of the mountain until my paw pads bled and I collapsed from exhaustion. Over and over I would have to do this. Every morning I would get up just as the first rays of dawn peaked over the mountains across the valley from where I had fallen on the rocks the day before and repeat my running until moon high.
:: Amazingly enough in a few months of my training running up and down the mountain my paw pads toughened and I could run for hours without a stumble. It was time to put those skills to the test. My mentor watched me with his ferocious gleaming eyes on a cliff edge that looked similar to that of my nursing den. "Begin!!!" he yowled harshly
:: I started at the very top of the mountain. Everything looked so beautiful from up here. I heard my mentor's voice echo up the mountain and ring in my ears. I took in the moment then bolted down the mountain with great speed. I had never sprinted so fast in my life. It felt like I was flying! It was like I was one of the stars falling on the Day of Creation.
:: My feet were flying but I had run up this mountain a bunch of times before that I felt like I could do it with my eyes closed, so I did. I didn't have to see where I was going my feet just knew what to do. Screeee! My eyes flew open, but not at my feet. I looked up and saw a falcon soaring over me crying in celebration. I felt energetic and when I ran past my Mentor I gave him a slight smile. I didn't look back to see what his reaction was, but I heard a whoop of joy behind me and I knew it was him.
:: The bottom of the mountain was within a bound and I finished it was a great leap and the falcon fluttered down to land by my side. A Sight bird. It was the best day I'd had in a very long time. From the mountain side nearby my mentor lept down and congratulated me. I was ready to graduate. This truly was the best day ever.

Story:
:: I wasn't the son of the leader, but it felt like I could be. He payed a lot of special attention to me, but my mother wouldn't tell me why. I was a little uncomfortable about it but my mother would tell me it's nothing to worry about, but maybe this is why I became so adventurous. My first paw steps outside the den, I met someone--a jaguar like me. He was about the same age, but I assumed a few months older because he seemed to know his way around. His dangerous and adventurous spirit, I think, was part of the reason why we became such great friends because I was always looking to get out of the eyes of the elders.
:: My friend's name was Monty. and he taught me about the clans. Most I already knew, like wandering around alone was dangerous because of a war between us and another clan, and the cats of our clan were out to protect us. Some day I knew I would too. But it was Monty who first told me about the stone. He told of its power, which awed us both. It was then we made a pact that we would become Seekers together.
:: Training didn't come soon enough so we tried to train ourselves. Days which we wouldn't be missed we would go out hunting (a basic survival skill taught at a very young age) and practice by catching our targets without killing them and catching them over and over again with new tactics until the prey died of exhaustion or we got bored. Sometimes, well a lot of times, it would end up being accidentally killed. The prey would be brought back to the clan in a rather tattered state, but the kill mark would be perfect and clean. After that we would turn to wrestling as a way to have fun as well as getting a good practice.
:: It was a real treat when we both went into training together. The clan even allowed us to have the same mentor because we were nearly inseparable. But our practicing really payed off. We advanced through training techniques and mastered skills faster than any newbies before. We had gotten moved up to train with the older cubs and eventually we were sent to train personally with the Leader. We showed true promise
:: When I first heard we were going to be sent to train with the leader I had a mix of feelings. I thought it might be a little strange because I saw him enough already but we weren't really bonded, and what if he didn't like what he saw in me? What if all that training I went through was for nothing and I was weak in his eyes. I guess it didn't really matter because Monty was overjoyed. He was better than me anyways so he should be, so I was excited to train because he was.
:: Our training became more challenging but the leader seemed pleased with us. Plenty of times I had wanted to give up but when I saw Monty's determination in his eyes when he looked at the leader I promised to myself I wouldn't let him down. Somehow he was always able to find the strength to get back up.

:: When Monty and me graduated, it was a real honorable moment. We looked at each other and both of our minds went instantly back to our days as cubs and our determination to train and succeed. Now was the moment we were waiting for and we ran off into the forest together across the border for the first time...

Story:
:: My father always put a tremendous amount of pressure on me, but I think it's because he cares. If there was a way he could, I think he would try to make me leader, but I wouldn't really care for the position. I don't care much for fighting and training in general, but if I'm attacked I will attack back. Hard.
:: When I was young my father encouraged me to be myself but he was always worried when I would go out to play. My adventurous spirit could not be contained. I think I get it from him because he's very outgoing. My father trained me personally during my time in the den, he knew lots of tricks and gave me tons of encouragement. He won't tell me about his scars though. They must hold dark memories like the claws of the cat who gave them to him, but I could only expect that from the war.
:: Soon enough it was time for me to decide what I wanted to do to serve the clan. I thought I should become a Seeker like my father so I went into their training looking to please my father. Behind his eyes I saw a mix of emotions though, of great joy and of partial sadness of an old memory.
:: My mentor was a female lynx and because I was a cub in training we were about the same height. She would have us train by doing a hide and seek exercise. One day it would be us seeking out a hidden blue object or the next would be a specific stone. We were taught to focus on our task (which proved to be a challenge for me) because though we may not be able to see them, the Trackers were out there and had our backs.
:: One day we took a field trip to test our skills. It was my mentor, two other cubs, and I and we were preparing for an adventure over the border. The clan has strict rules about not sending anyone out over the border if they are not ready, so us students assumes we were, but we were extremely nervous and out mentor did little to comfort us.
:: My first paw steps over the border made my heart race and I began to panic but I relaxed as we ventured a little more. No matter how hard I tried to relax however the hair on the back of my neck stayed uncomfortably raised. I closed my eyes remembering a part of my father's training. I could feel a cat's presence around but I couldn't tell where from. Just as I was about to speak up, out of the trees dropped a leopard right onto our mentor. She yowled for us to scram and the other cubs took flight back toward our clan concealing themselves in the shadows, but I was frozen in place.
:: My mentor looked at me with fear in her eyes as she saw me and the leopard's eyes lock. Crap. It was in that moment of steady, silent tension that the lynx wriggled partially free. The leopard however was not afraid of her escape, just dug his claws deeper into her flesh. She yowled out that sent the trees around us vibrating.
:: When it just seemed all hope was lost a Blue Magpie-jay flew down out of no where and slashed at the leopard's eyes surprising him into letting go. Her mentor dashed out from under him with great speed. I had never before seen her move so quickly in training. She snatched my scruff and began to pull me away.
:: "This is my chance!!" I tried to yowl at her and forced my head to look back to try and see the Magpie-Jay even in my mentor's vice grip. The little bird had flittered out of harm's way into a tree and we locked eyes. My heart fluttered a bit and I knew a bond between us was being made, but my mentor had ripped my eyes away from it and nearly dragged me over the boarder, but I knew that even here we weren't safe. The border meant nothing if we were allowed to cross it.
:: As my mentor let me go I slumped down and began to cry. She had ruined it, I almost had gotten my Sight bird but the chance was now gone. I don't even know if she's safe or not. The leopard was still out there. My mentor tried to sympathize but I wouldn't hear it. She didn't have the Sight nor would she understand so she tromped away, offended.
:: I felt awful about what I had done but our bond was never the same and I had lost interest in becoming a Seeker that night. I asked my father instead if I could switch and become a Tracker, but when I asked his eyes turned cold and he told me no. He told me quietly at first but then he got gradually louder repeating himself til he was nearly shouting at me. Only when my mother came to calm him down did he, but she didn't understand either. It stung.
:: I ran away into the forest that night and didn't come back for a few days, but when I did my father apologized for his inappropriate action. I hugged him for comfort but it wasn't the same like when I was little with warm love. This was with hardened sorrow, but I knew he was sorry. After that I said, "I love you."
:: And he said, "I know sweetie. I know."

:: a k a r i ::

-----
Mood: | tense | exhausted |
Weather: | clear | few clouds | slight raise in temperature |
Time: | early morning | sunrise |
-----

Beams of sunlight beat down on the forest creatures as slowly but surely the sun began to rise. The birds were not even out to began their morning songs yet, but the sound of running paw steps could be heard throughout the trees. Directed towards the sound, one would notice the sight of a large tailless leopard hard at work in a small clearing, running and leaping at multiple trees and bushes, but not before slinking across the ground like a snake, snarling and batting her paws against the branches in expertise moves.
The sheen of sweat the dripped from the female's pelt could easily be seen under the bright sunrise, her long claws glinting menacingly as they slashed off leaves from the foliage surrounding her. Shredded flowers also lay in multiple clumps around the clearing, and there was quite a few fallen bushes that had been piled up into a mound in the center of the clearing.
The female never stopped her training, despite when she slammed into a tree too hard, leaving a small cut on her shoulder. It was obvious that she had been training like this for hours, even before the sun had begun to rise. It was only when the screech of a bird echoed through the clearing that the female stopped, pricking up her darker brown ears and tilting her head to the side, as if listening to what the bird was saying. Swooping down into the clearing, a small white bird with a crested head landed gently on the shoulder of the feline, squawking into her ear for a few moments, flying away as the female began to move north, her paws wearily dragging across the forest floor as she pulled herself away from the training spot.
A bandage that was wrapped around the leopard's front left paw was covered in blood, practically soaked until you could no longer see the original cream color of the bandage. There was blood matted into her fur around her paw, her paw pads stained with the red of her life-force. If you studied the bandage closely, you would realize that although this blood was fresh, the blood that it had been soaked on was very old, to the point that the blood was now stained brown. She also had a large fang hanging around her neck by a chain, the white tooth similar to that of a wolverine's, this object also tainted with blood.
It wasn't an uncommon sight in Cavallino though, to see this young female out and about for training in the early morning, as she was always up before the sun, ready to prove herself to her leader without hesitation. And now, as like every other day, she dragged herself back to camp for criticism and rude snarks from the jealous cats of her clan. And just like every other day, she would drag herself out of camp for more training and sneaking into other territories.
Just like every other day.

((We have six Cavallino and three Velocia if I counted right. Cavalino rules! *cough cough*))
