Storm listened as the older brother spoke. She nodded her head once they introduced themselves. “It’s nice to meet you.” She replied lightly, ears perked forward as she relaxed her stance abit. She lightly chuckled when he referred to his brother. It seemed they weren’t abit different than her and her sister. “No we’re alone.” She replied with a flick of her tail. “We left our pack some time ago.” She stopped there without fully giving the reason why.

Kiya rolled her eyes at Curse. “Nice to meet you.” She said lightly before narrowing her eyes at Curse. “I don’t.” She replied, with a flick of her tail. “But do you?” She added with a raised brow. She giggled quietly when Nightmare spoke about Curse. Course she couldn’t really speak on anything as it was the same with her and Storm.

Nightmare didn’t return the sentiment when Storm politely replied. She did seem right about being alone with her sister, since neither he nor Curse have noticed any other life aside from birds or squirrels. He then narrowed his eyes, “And why did you leave your pack?” He asked, pressing for an answer.

Curse rolled his eyes at Kiya, “Yeah.. whatever..” He mumbled, shuffling his paws, “No.” He replied bluntly. Kiya’s giggle when Nightmare spoke about him certainly didn’t go unnoticed by him, “I’m not a fool.” He grumbled, swaying his tail, although it was less directed at Nightmare and more towards Kiya. As if he felt the need to prove himself.

Storm pinned her ears back as Nightmare pushed the question. She looked back with narrowed eyes before replying. “Rogues attacked our pack, killed our alphas and took over.” She said in a snipped tone. Her tail lashed as she kept the memories away with the quiet anger that boiled in her chest. “And why are you both not with your pack?” She countered back at Nightmare.

Kiya went quiet when Nightmare asked the question that they hated answering. She quietly growled at the memory then pushed it away with a quick head shake. She rolled her eyes when Curse got defensive by Nightmare speaking about him. “I didn’t say you were, Curse.” She snapped with a lash of her tail. She could see that he was touchy feely about his older brother picking on him and being a bit exaggerate. That’s what older siblings do as she knew from her sister doing the same thing to her sometimes.

Nightmare bared his fangs a bit at Storm's snippy response. She wasn't going to be a push-over, he could sense she wasn't just all bark. There was some respect to be had there, but Nightmare also didn't like when his position of strength seemed challenged. He contemplated for a brief moment on whether or not to tell her, "We left. I didn't like the boundaries, and Curse tagged along like a lost puppy," He answered, a half-truth, "I prefer when I am in charge."

Curse twitched his ear, listening to Storm explain their situation. His eyes glanced over at his brother, then back at Kiya when he noticed her headshake. Perhaps they had something in common with having lost their pack, although Nightmare wouldn't admit that they were actually kicked out, and he shifted his paws uncomfortably. Nightmare didn't get it nearly as bad in their family pack compared to him, "Loss is a part of life." He spoke coldly.

A brow raised as Storm looked at Nightmare as he spoke. In a way they had common ground, but both didn’t like being challenged by any means. The side of her mouth raised in a small smile, and she had to agree there was some respect there. “Some boundaries are fine, but to much and it becomes over exaggerated.” She said with a flick of her tail. “He’s your brother, of course he would follow you. That bond is stronger than a pack bond.” She looked to Kiya before looking back to the brother pair. “I wouldn’t leave my sister anywhere, no matter how much she might get on my nerves.”

Her ears perked as she listened to Storm and Nightmare, rolling in her head how much those two were alike and yet somewhat different that it didn’t really shock her as much as she thought it would. Then hearing Curse speak about loss, she shrugged when she had to agree with him. “Life isn’t always fair either.” She replied looking to the ground for a moment then back to the others, shifting her paws some and shifting her weight.

Nightmare let out a scoff, "That is an.. agreeable point." He responded slowly. He then let out a mocking laugh at her next comments about family. He was far from a good brother, and he knew that, he was harsh, and words that came from him were rarely compliments. But if he truly meant what he said, and he likes to believe it, then he would've left Curse behind. And yet, he didn't. "Easy for you to say. You don't know him like I do," He bared his teeth, "The fool is a mess. We spent hours tracking a herd and he slipped up and sent it running. Now, we start all over again." He let out a sigh, "Considering how close by you are, I'm sure you noticed a stampeding elk herd."

Curse had to acknowledge what Kiya said as well, life wasn't fair, "It's not." He responded, simply. He knew it firsthand. He wasn't the promising, strong wolf like his brother was. Speaking of which, he rolled his eyes at his brothers remarks, and proceeded to walk forwards, shoving his way past Kiya, "Let's just leave them and go find that herd again if you wanna mope about it so much," He growled.

Storm pinned her ears back with a light growl as he countered her comment about family. “I don’t fully know you,” she started with a lash of her tail. “But if you were really that bad of a big brother you would’ve left Curse behind to fend for himself and not cared. The fact that you didn’t, shows there’s a tiny hint that you care and that you couldn’t leave him behind.” Before the rogues took over their pack, she has seen it happen a couple of times with other sibling pairs, very rarely only once did a pair seperate and go different paths. She perked her ears forward and the growl in her went silent when he mentioned the herd. “Kind of hard to miss when they come out of nowhere, almost running us over if we didn’t stop at the last second.” She shrugged as she looked to where the herd went then back to them. “Maybe we can help you. We’re due to hunt anyways. And 4 wolves against a bull is stronger than 2.”

Kiya gave a small nod before rolling her eyes as she listened to their older siblings. She sighed lightly, given some credit to the brother pair, and then huffed when Nightmare brought the herd up. “Not something that needs to happen with a stampeding herd.” She said lightly and her eyes snapped to her sister when she suggested they could help take down a bull with the other pair. She has never known Storm to suggest anything like that before, even to most strangers. Her ears pinned as a growl rumbled in her chest when Curse shoved past her. She turned and snapped her fangs inches from his tail. “Excuse you, Curse.” She snapped. Her blue eyes narrowed at the male. “You don’t have to be rude and shove past just because your brother, who and in my apologies, can be a jerk from the sound of it, but that’s what older siblings do.” She chuffed moving to shove past Curse and stand in front of him, her eyes looking at him with some stubbornness that she got from Storm.

"Exactly," Nightmare growled as he approached her closer, attempting to intimidate Storm, "You don't know me. Having him around is more for the sake of convenience than brotherly love." His tone was defensive as he stared her down. The dark wolf swerved his ears back, "You best be careful. Relying on anyone too much will end badly."

Just as he was about to walk past her, the request to help them hunt was brought up. Additionally, the mention that they were in the line of sight during the herds chase, "We don't need anymore help, and I am not inclined to share what food I get."

The idea of help taking down the herd gave Curse mixed feelings. On one hand, he was a lot more agreeable about it than Nightmare was, on the other hand it did make him feel... odd. Asking for help was uncomfortable. Curse looked over at Kiya with his eyes narrowed, "Whatever you say..." He dismissed her with an attitude.

"I think we should accept their help," Curse slowly spoke out, awkwardly, "We need a way to guarantee food and we can't just skip an opportunity because it isn't... ideal." He looked off into the forest, with all of them together, finding the herd again would also be much easier, "Help us find it."

Storm lifted her head to look up at Nightmare with pinned ears. One thing about her, she hated when others tried to intimidate others, or just push their weight away. “Back off, Nightmare.” She said in a non caring tone. Her golden eyes stared directly into his, as she wasn’t even afraid of the challenge.
“I’m not afraid of you. I’ve dealt with more condescending males worse than you that try to throw their weight around and intimidate others. It’s irritating.” She didn’t earn the name heartless for any easy reason.
“Relying on someone is better than being alone, or dead.” She stood to her full height, with only being a couple inches shorter than him, she still wasn’t afraid. “We’ll help you and Curse catch your prey, and then Kiya and I will go off somewhere else to hunt.”

Kiya narrowed her eyes at Curse, then stood and looked back towards the forest where in the direction where the herd went before looking back at Storm and Nightmare. She pinned her ears when the older brother tried to intimidate her sister.
No one who ever did that to Storm got away without any wounds, even she knew better than to try that on Storm. “Stor-“ Kiya started but was then silenced with a look from her older sister. She snarled softly before looking away. She sighed before turning the the direction of the forest. “I agree.” She added in a clipped voice. Agreeing with both Storm and Curse, and more heavily on leaving the male sibling lie once they helped them get their prey and then she and Storm would move on to hunt elsewhere. She looked away from Curse and the others, trying to catch the scent of the elk herd that ran by earlier, anything distracted her from the squabbling behind her.

"Then let's get this hunt over with quickly, so we don't have to deal with each other's presence for much longer." Nightmare grunted, lifting his head arrogantly as he walked past her and continued to observe for the missing herd. Hopefully, they shouldn't be too far, "I suggest we split up until we find something. When we do, we'll howl to let everyone know." He recommended, eyeing Storm, "You'll come with me. Kiya will go with Curse." He ordered, his tone leaving little room for debate, "Would do me good to be away from him for a moment," He let out an annoyed sigh, "And I could keep a closer eye on you." It was clear he still had suspicions about the female.

Curse had already joined the group in sniffing around before Nightmare's separation idea came up, causing him to immediaetely pause in place, "What?" Curse's voice was audibly baffled by the suggestion, his eyes glanced over at Kiya, he had always been around either his former pack or, well, his brother. His ears went flat at the idea. His brother was far better at small group interactions than he was, uh, in his own way. Curse on the otherhand.. well, he was relatively awkward, "This is ridiculous." He complained, his voice a whisper.
