Miles smiled as he headed out of the office with the two of them. He watched the dogs go racing down the stairs. He was worried about the puppy tripping and hurting himself…However, whenever Riyu stumbled or looked like he’d tumble, Pess quickly grabbed him by the scruff. She’d let go immediately after. Just as soon as she was sure he was steady once more. Miles nodded as he looked at Trucy. He said “Maybe reading it out loud to Phoenix and I could help you get the reading done faster.”

She’d said it was a boring book though, so he wasn’t sure reading it out loud would help. If she didn’t like the book, she didn’t like it. Miles unlocked the car and opened the passenger door. The dogs jumped in and he said “No, back of the car!” They immediately jumped out of the seat and into the back. He sighed and shook his head, then opened the back door for Trucy. Before going to Phoenix and saying “Hey, we don’t talk about that.” He shook his head then, not being fond of that particular memory…

"i'm just kidding! Well, mainly. Trucy has a bit of a dark imagination." Phoenix rubbed his neck and shut the trunk. Growing up with murder mystery stories over classic bedtime stories did that to a kid. But to be fair Trucy liked hearing about that stuff since the beginning. "Daddy's old cases are always the coolest! I can't wait to actually see him in action."

Phoenix groaned. "Oh please, not you too bugging me about finding a client." He sighed, getting in the passenger seat while Trucy got in the back, petting the dogs as she sat there. She nodded at Edgeworth's advice, "That's a good idea actually, as long as it doesn't distract you guys from cooking."

Miles sighed, yet nodded at the other man. He said “Oh, I wonder why that is,” and rolled his eyes at the other man for a moment. He then glanced to the girl, as she mentioned the old cases. He winced a bit…but Phoenix didn’t exactly seem actually bothered by it. Though the man did give a sigh. Miles shook his head some.

He went back around to the driver’s side. He got in and closed the door, then buckled up his seatbelt and looked at Phoenix. Before looking into the back at Trucy and the dogs. Making sure she buckled up…and nodding as he said “I don’t think that will distract us, I’m pretty good at multi tasking anyway.”

He didn't necessarily know what to say, but he rested his hand on Miles' arm for comfort. "You guys would like it, or probably even read it before. It's about a lawyer. To Kill a Mockingbird? I like the characters but it's sooo hard to read." Trucy groaned. She was very intelligent but also very ADHD and had a hard time finishing more complicated books.

He glanced to the other man for a small moment. Then quickly looked away, focusing on the road and driving the car. Though he listened as the girl spoke of the book she was reading. He nodded and said “Oh, yes, I’ve definitely read that one.” He then tilted his head as he heard what she said about it being hard to read. He said “reading it out loud might help that then. Or…one of us could read it to you, if you think that would be better.” He then fell silent and continued to drive.

"Oh that's a classic! I had to read that one too." Phoenix exclaimed. "You know in your younger days you were very Scout like." He chuckled. Phoenix thought for a moment, and then, based on his expression, it wouldn't be surprising if a literal light bulb appeared over his head. He grinned and said, "Got it! An audiobook! We can all enjoy it while we cook. And then another day, we should all watch the movie, it's really good too." He loved watching movies with Miles. And Trucy too of course. But his couch was kinda small, it forced them to get all close and snuggly.

"In that case why don't I just watch the movie and write the report?" Trucy said with that scheming look she often had.

"Not how it works, Trucy-doll." Phoenix chuckled and shook his head. "Books and movies always have differences, you know that." She reminded him so much of himself honestly. That's what he would have tried to pull at that age.

Miles shook his head a bit at that comment. He then glanced back at the girl and the two dogs, since he had to stop at a light. It was safe to take his eyes off the road for now. He nodded and said “I agree, that book is definitely a classic.” He then smiled at Trucy, since he was looking at her despite talking to Phoenix. He nodded and said “Oh, that’s a good idea. I was just thinking maybe there’d be an audio version. Since it’s a classic, there has to be an audio version of it.” He smiled as he said this. He then looked at the road again.

He looked up at the light, and saw it was green again. He put the car back in gear, and began to drive once more.

He chuckled a bit as he listened to the two of them. Shaking his head as he continued to drive, and said “You’re so much like Phoenix was when he was younger.” He then focused on driving again. They were almost home, not his home but still.

"There's audiobooks of everything now, you old man." Phoenix playfully teased Miles with one of his classic grins. Phoenix took that as a compliment, to himself and his parenting, as well as Trucy's character. So he couldn't help but to blush, feeling very flattered.

"Huh, I guess he just rubbed off on me?" Trucy shrugged. Though it was interesting to think about being so similar to someone who was not blood related to you at all. But it did make her happy hearing Edgeworth say that. She was fully a Wright, no doubt about it in her own mind, and she was glad others could see it too.

The silver haired man rolled his eyes, but couldn’t really be annoyed. He nodded at the other man, and said “Okay.” He then blushed and looked away, as he saw that grin…That grin could be the death of him, with how easily it could now cause him to blush like this.

He nodded as Trucy then spoke, more a question than anything. He smiled and said “It’s not bad if he rubbed off on you.” He thought of children…adopting his own child one day. For now, he had his dog and his pup and they made him perfectly happy.

"Just means she's awesome." Phoenix smugly replied, and now it was Trucy's turn to roll her eyes. Finally they were at Phoenix's apartment building. Trucy got out with her backpack and Phoenix went to go transfer his bike from Edegeworth's trunk to the bike rack. He waited for the car to get locked, swinging his own keys. "You ready? I swear, it's a pretty easy recipe. But if we can tackle the most complicated cases together, something from 'Cookbook for Dummies' shouldn't be too hard." He grinned again, with his hands determinedly on his hips.

Trucy gave him a dead pan look, her brows furrowed. "Geez Dad, if it's that hard we can get a pizza." She groaned in a very teenagery way. But she knew how her dad got when he was determined.
