Apollyon nodded his head, it was tradition for lands to be passed on down, it was very uncommon for prides to move around- like his own. He liked tradition, he liked knowing which lands belonged to whom, it was like his old pride. Now, the lands seemed to change each year, prides moving and changing. Adapting. Astrona did not seem fond of the idea.

He laughed softly at her tone, "I see," he agreed, it seems she will survive yet. The heat took its toll, if you weren't used to it- even if you were. She was holding up well, but she was attached to her home. He didn't blame her, the rain-forest seemed to be rather ideal. At least in some parts. She continued to respond to his question, she changed slightly. If she wasn't afraid what was she? His golden eyes met her blue ones with sparkling curiosity. Apollyon would've called her out instantly, but he forced himself to remain polite. Friends, not enemies. "Apologies If I offend you, Guardian," he began, "you use that word often- honor." He pointed out gently, his gaze still locked firmly on the female, studying her. "It begins to sound like it's quite the opposite."

"You have a duty, everyone has a duty." Apollyon was now seemingly speaking to himself as his gaze finally left her to scan the oasis. "Some duties are more important than others- Duties are rather complicated aren't they? Duty to your head or you heart? Duty to this council you speak of." She sounded proud of this council, he wondered if there were any more to them. Anything that Astrona felt for them that she kept hidden. Perhaps he was reading into it too much, either way his gaze returned to her expectantly for her response.

The Elohim stretched, rolling his shoulders and shaking his mane as he leaned down to drink once more before standing up again. They didn't come just to stand around and chat, she was here to get to learn how his pride functioned, and as much as he'd love to talk more it would take all day to journey around if he kept this up. He suspected she was rather lonely, she did point out it was just her after all. "Shall we?" he beckoned her as he moved to exit the oasis.

[[ shrieks I'm so sorry I forgot to reply!!! ]]

Astrona fixes her tone immediately. "I'm sorry, Elohim. I must be tired from traveling. It is an honor." She says, tone firm. But when Apollyon starts talking about duties, she nods along.

"Yes, it is a duty. An honor to be chosen, but a duty nevertheless." Astrona looks to the horizon, to the east where she came. Both in reference to her home here in the valley and beyond. "I was not expecting the valley to be so... empty. I would say barren, but I realize it isn't. There is just so much space between prides that I can go days without seeing anyone."

She jumps eagerly to her paws when Apollyon talks of moving on. "Yes, of course." Astrona is quite interested in learning about another pride-- not that she has any reference to what is 'normal' in this valley.

Apollyon nodded his head, "It's quite alright," he responded, hesitating before adding as he beckoned her along. "You can call me Apollyon, much easier." His gaze traveled to where she gestured. He huffed lightly, a hint of a laugh. "Yes, most prides tend to space themselves off- to avoid trouble or preference of land and everything in between." he shrugged, he was used to it. Your paws got used to it, it was how things were. "I guess outside the valley is very different, no?"

The king nodded his head as they began to move, this time toward his pride. The savannah turned rocky as they made their way toward the giant rocks, forming a cave elevated from the ground. "This is what we call home," he began, pride hinted in his tone. "some sleep in the cave up there and the others prefer down here." As if on cue, a dark lion made it's figure known. "Apollyon," it was a feminine voice, Caine was not present today. good, he didn't need to explain their whole situation with poor Astrona. "Cordelia," he greeted her before turning slightly toward Astrona to introduce her. "This is my advisor Cordelia." The lioness stepped forward with kind eyes as she immediately examined the tigeress beside the Elohim. "You must be Guardian Astrona," she began, "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"It is fine, Elohim," Astrona replies easily, following him-- as always-- a half step behind of walking even with him. "We are not of the same status, although your offer of being on informal terms does please me." It would be bad form for her to refer to Apollyon as anything other than his rank in the presence of others. Especially in front of his pride. She does not want to appear too friendly, as a Guardian may be called on by individual members and not only the leader of the pride.

"It is different outside of the valley, but I'm starting to get the impression that there is much to see in the valley that is new to me."

"Advisor Cordelia, likewise. Thank you, to you both, for your hospitality."

Apollyon nodded his head, shrugging. "To each their own." he responded evenly. His gaze traveling the scenery, "Yes, I assume it is. I suppose one day I'll see what it's like outside of the valley, perhaps it'll be even more surprising than what lies inside." His eyes traveled to Cordelia, who smiled at the tiger. "Of course," she responded, dipping her head as she looked around. "Have you traveled far? We could get you something to eat.."

"The valley is... much larger than I thought it could possibly be. It's almost as if it defies logic," Astrona says. Although it only took her two days to descend the mountain-like side of the gorge, the expanse of the valley was beyond her comprehension. To Astrona, nothing could compare to the odd things she has already discovered within the valley, but she does wonder if things get even stranger further west.

"I've traveled a lot the past month, yes." Astrona admits with the barest hint of a rueful smile. "I think I've traveled more the past month than I have in my entire life. Rest is something I do need, but something to eat would be very much appreciated as well."

As eager as she is to find out Apollyon's reasons for inviting her, Astrona knows the formalities have to happen first.
