Not at all bracing for the impact, Kaycee let out a surprised shriek and dropped the book, and she nearly toppled over like the hardback had. But she threw out her arms and was able to balance herself. KC picked up the book from the pavement and shot whoever had bumped into her an annoyed glare . Kaycee recognized him as the cashier from earlier and a sneer crept onto Kaycee's face. He wore the same sharp glare, almost testing her to see how she'd react. She immediately knew that if anything like this happened to another girl, they'd immediately fawn and start blushing crazily. Kaycee wouldn't give this no-good teen the satisfaction. "Watch it, pretty boy." She snapped, throwing the book into her book bag carelessly and then walking past him, frustration still boiling within. How had someone so careless possibly bump into her? She was practically against the wall, yet someone had managed to ruin her five minutes of peace before the next kid.

Kaycee trekked to the library and returned to the familiar wooden table. She sat down and unpacked for the last time that day, reminding her that in an hour she'd be free and have the evening to herself. When the young woman saw the blonde-haired boy arrive, she plastered on a fake smile and greeted him. They worked together on some of his history, some beginning work with states. It was a grueling experience. Henry had to recite the fifty states and their capitals, until he could at least do half of them. In the last fifteen minutes of their session together, Kaycee let him doddle in her notepad as they had gotten everything done. Henry had tried to draw theUS, complete with states and capitals. Kaycee checked the drawing over and gave him a satisfied smile, to which Henry lit up. The two of them worked together, KC helping Henry as there began to be a fondness between them. His mother arrived and handed her thirty-dollars and then the small family left the library. Kaycee watched them walk out before she followed shortly after, book bag in hand. It was almost 7:00 now, and Kaycee decided it would probably be a good time to do something fun. Perhaps call up her friends? Kaycee called them up, and they all decided to go to the beach. She would be appearing with her friends Terry and Gina. They decided to meet at 7:30, each of them bringing something to contribute. Kaycee returned to her home to change into her blue and black bikini, and slipped a dress over her head. KC left the house with her beach bag and a fruit plate, and went down to the beach. She laid out her towel an waited for her friends, who arrived a few minutes later.

Jack was slightly surprised at her remark , but he gave her an annoyed glare , simply yelling after her , " right back at ya . " rolling his eyes , he then resumed what he was doing , checking his messages on his phone . Vincent hadn't texted obviously , he wasn't much of a person who texted , but Michael had . it read , " dude let's head down the beach and catch some babes . meet me there . " Jack shook his head and smirked , texting back , " fine . i'll be there in a couple of minutes . " he slipped his phone in his pocket and headed back to his house .
after throwing on his swim trunks and a t-shirt , he grabbed a towel and headed out . he didn't bother putting shoes on since people would automatically assume he was heading to the beach . that , and his house wasn't very far from anything . he saw Michael waiting for him at the steps that led down to the beach . he picked up the pace and jogged after him , the concrete under his bare feet scorching hot . Michael being Michael , he was already shirtless , strutting his stuff . he had muscle , which was popular with the chicks . his jet black hair was in it's normal spike . he definitely went to the beach and danced in the sun far more than Jack did , judging by how tan he was . he approached him , flashing a smile , " hey man . ready to head down ? " Michael seemed really pumped , so he just ran down the steps in response . Jack ran after him , throwing his towel over his shoulder . he slowed down to a walk as Michael continued to sprint . his spunky friend kept running , as he dived right into the waves . Jack let out a laugh as he saw Michael's head pop out of the water's surface , shaking his head a bit . he ignored his friend yelling at him to come join him , and focused his attention on finding a spot to throw his stuff down .
he walked over to one of many palm trees that had been planted years ago , and plopped his stuff down . out of the corner of his eye , he recognized the face of the girl from the coffee shop , and bumping into her earlier . he mumbled under his breath , a bit annoyed he kept running into her . Michael came running over , drenched in water , " what are you waiting for ? come on ! " Jack shoved him a bit , " alright i'm coming . " he slipped his shirt off , revealing his well defined muscles , and devil tattoo . Michael had already began running back to the waters . he ran after his friend , a rather goofy grin on his face . he reached the cool salty waters , his legs kicking up and spraying water everywhere . he tackled Michael , jumping from behind him and wrapping his big arms around him . he laughed as Michael spun around in circles , finally crashing him and Jack down into the waters . Jack let him go , and came back up to the surface , shaking his head to get most of the water out of his hair . he ran a hand through his hair right before being soaked again by a huge splash from Michael . Jack protested playfully , " hey what was that for ? " Michael stuck his tongue out like the dog he was , and pointed to the beach at the group of girls in bikinis , " what do ya say we pick up some chicks ? " Jack shrugged , and looked in the direction his friend was pointing in . if he looked harder , he could see the brunette girl in the center . immediately changing his mind , he shook his head , " Nah man . you go ahead . " Michael began swimming back to the water's edge , " suit yourself ! more for me . " Jack swam back , and went to where his towel lay instead . he watched as Michael fixed his hair , and approached the group of girls with a grin . he simply waited for him to get rejected .

Kaycee and her friends lounged out on the sand, finally feeling at peace. She didn't have to rush around for the rest of the day and only had two kids to tutor tomorrow. Besides, Kaycee always enjoyed Terry and Gina's company. They were both brunette's like her and had the same quick mouthed personality as KC. Terry had a lighter brown hair that hung down to her bottom, but today it was done in a high ponytail. She wore dark sunglasses and a grim expression, but Kaycee knew Terry's real personality. Terry was the wilder one of the group, often liking to break the rules and do very reckless things. More often then not, Terry ended up in jail for a night or too. Gina on the other hand, was more quiet, in a way. She had a loud mouth, but only used it when it was absolutely necessary. She had a sharp jawline and her mouth always had a confident smirk. Gina had short chocolate brown hair, very much like Kaycee herself. Together, the three were all very attractive from a far, but the trio didn't like to be bothered by some foolish boy who thought he was slicker than he actually was. And besides, Terry was gay and Gina was straight and not very much with the dating life. And Kaycee didn't have time for people like that. "So how's your tutoring job going, Kace?" Gina asked curiously, stealing a piece of watermelon and humming along to the background music that came from Terry's small speaker. "Eh, it's going. I make money and most of the kids aren't horrible." Kaycee shrugged, and thought of little Finn. She couldn't help but smile at the thought of the energetic little redhead. "You make some decent money and you're doing that throughout summer. It should build up. Maybe we can throw some crazy party." Terry said with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. Gina rolled her eyes but didn't say anything, even though it was pretty clear she disapproved. "I don't really think that's a good idea, considering how much trouble you've gotten into lately." Kaycee responded with a light chuckle and Terry waved her off.

Kaycee was the first one to notice the guy walking towards them. As he came closer, Kaycee was able to make out some attractive features. A well built body, jet black hair that was being fidgeted with and an all too-confident smile. He walked with somewhat of a confident swagger, which bothered her. The two other girls noticed the guy too and the three of them looked to each other with an understanding- time to play this guy. None of them exactly enjoyed doing this, but sometimes it was fun to watch their reactions. There had never been a guy that really understood what was going on until it was too late. This situation had arose many times and it happened more often than not. At this point, they were trained professionals. The guy came up to their group and Kaycee was the first to speak, as if by script. "Well hello there. Do you need anything?" KC's voice suddenly went from cold and bland to flirty and seductive in a matter of seconds and she gave him a flirty smile, and her two friends did the same , Terry shifting to lay in front of him and Gina laying her head on one hand.

Jack watched his friend approach the girl with a truck load of confidence . by observing their body language , Jack had a slight suspicion they were up to something . they were indeed decently attractive , but they simply didn't interest him . Jack wondered if he should help his friend by simply pulling him away , but he just felt like watching the show . he watched Michael , but got comfortable , letting his friend learn his lesson .
Michael had a goofy yet flirty smirk spread across his face . clearly he thought he had this down , since this worked on many other girls , and had worked quite well , " hello ladies , i'm Michael . can i get your names ? " this was his first step to getting a girl's number , or something more . Michael's eyes ran up and down the girls layed out before him , his chocolate eyes dancing . Jack crossed his sun kissed arms as the sun began to set , casting an orange glow across the beach , and reflecting off the waters . the air smelt like the salty waves , and a bit like testosterone . Jack had a sly smirk on his face as Michael tried to act slick around the girls . he knew that if the brunette girl he kept running into was sharp , that her friends were probably the same way . glancing around the beach , more teenagers had came into view , as the sun set . a large group of college guys with high school girls were further down the beach , chatting it up . a couple were swimming , and some were even making out on the sand . Jack's eyes wandered around the beach as he waited for his friend to come back to him defeated . this was Jack's favorite time of day . when the sun was setting to introduce the night , when everyone in the town just simply kicked back and relaxed , and had some fun .

This time, Terry spoke up. This line was classic and for some reason, was the only statement in a guy's mind. "I'm Gay," she answered, letting her cleavage show as she smirked at the boy who had called himself Michael. He would most likely not even show much respect for himself by looking down to her chest. Terry knew enough about these types of guys to know what he wanted. A quickie and then a goodbye. He thought he was so cool but Terry thought he was annoying and frankly, quite embarrassing to the male race. Gina spoke next, saying, "I'm Uninterested." She winked at the boy, excited to see how this boy reacted and if he would really fall into their trap. It would be a beautiful sight if he did. Kaycee, who liked to play with he role the most, stood and dusted off some loose sand that had been blown onto her by the wind. "Save the best for last," Kaycee returned a charming smile before leaning close to Michael's ear. "Please take the stick out of your arse, Michael. I'm sure you'd be much prettier without it." Her tone of voice didn't change at all, and when Kaycee pulled away, she winked before sitting back down. The trio smiled up at him innocently, each with their own charm. They felt that this was a very successful 'mission.' Terry waved Michael off with a simple flick of her wrist, showing that they were done with his crappy act. But they didn't move their positions quite yet. The three brunette a wanted to see how this flirt would react and if he would continue his little charade. If he did want to, the girls wouldn't mind. But would Michael want to lose any more of his dignity was the real question.

One by one, each girl lost interest in Michael and turned back around and began chatting happily as if nothing had happened. None of them cared that Michael may still be there, but they were all pretty certain he would be walking away now. Or rather, stomping away like a kid who didn't get his ice cream. "Want to go down to the water?" Kaycee asked her friends, and the two nodded in response. Kaycee removed her beach dress and the three of them walked down on the hot sand. The water's coldness shocked KC for only a second. She saw the goosebumps forming on her legs and arms, as she brought up her arms to cover her frontal area. Kaycee knew that it probably didn't do much but the water was chill. Terry and Gina had been able to wade a bit further in the water, and KC made a few hesitated steps deeper into the water. Terry splashed Kaycee, and the cold hit her like a truck. Rearing up to splash Terryback, Gina splashed KC just before and the two girls broke out in laughter. Kaycee's cheeks burned as she became embarrassed and drenched with water. She splashed them with one swift motion of her arms, and the laughs abruptly went silent.

Michael's face turned from flirty , to a bit disappointed . but he quickly bounced back , walking away but looking over his shoulder , then winking , at the group of girls , " feisty . " Jack watched Michael turn around to face him , his face instantly turning into disappointment as he looked away from the girls . keeping a straight face only for a couple of seconds , Jack let out a laugh as Michael sat next to him . " wow Michael you should teach me how to do that . your such a chick magnet . " sarcasm coated his words as he continued laughing . Michael retorted , " hey man it's not like you could do any better . " Jack was too into teasing his friend to even care what he was saying . he mimicked a high pitched voice , " wow Michael your so hot . show me a good time Michael . " he then began making kissing noises until Michael punched him hard in the shoulder . Jack gave him a break , " look man , you walked right into that one . and to be honest , that's the funniest thing i've seen all day . " Michael was still bummed , " the one in the middle was the worst . she told me to take the stick out of my butt . worst thing a girl had ever said to me . " he continued pouting . Michael wasn't the best at just letting things go . Jack motioned to the girl's playing in the water , " i've been running into that girl all day . real annoying . she's been snappy , but at least she didn't tell me i had a ' stick up my butt . " he snickered at his friend , then patted his shoulder reassuringly , " sorry i didn't warn ya , but it's real funny . hey just let it go . they aren't worth it . maybe next time . but you should really work on what you say . " Michael shrugged , clearly still feeling rejected about it . Poor poor Michael .

Terry and Gina shared a glance and before Kaycee could do anything, they both simaltaneously splashed her. Kaycee was enveloped into a large wave of water, causing her to topple over. She sat in the water a moment, trying to get used to the coldness of it. She lunged forward and grabbed one of Terry and Gina's ankles and pulled them down with her. They let out a shriek and soon the infamous trio was all in the water. "If I'm going down, you all are coming with me." Kaycee growled menacingly, but it was all in good fun. Terry, Gina and Kaycee all sat in the water, letting the waves rush over their laps. The silence was nice; peaceful, even. Kaycee glanced back at Michael and couldn't help but smirk evilly. He had given up and it felt good. KC finally broke the silence by saying, "We owned that guy. He's probably pouting and whining about it right now." Terry crossed her arms, growing cold, but managed to smile through it. "Doofuse," was all she needed to say and the girls all burst into giggles again. Eventually, they all got cold and KC couldn't feel her legs, and decided to call it a day. They walked back to their towels and KC checked the time - I was almost 8:15. Terry and Gina left together and Kaycee took her time leaving, shaking off the sand from the blanket and then putting it back down, to watch the sea before she left.

Jack and Michael left the beach soon after the girls did . they both decided to head to the small diner on the corner . since there was a no shoes , no shirt , no service sign , they both headed home to change , and planned to meet back up at the diner . after towel drying his hair , then throwing on jeans and a fresh t-shirt , Jack soon headed out of his house again , hands shoved in his jacket pockets . he had a twenty in his pocket to pay for the meal knowing Michael wasn't one to remember important things . after waiting a couple minutes for Michael to arrive , he was just about to head inside the diner , but Michael came jogging around the corner , stopping in front of Jack , " sorry my mom wanted to know where i was going . " he seemed a bit out of breath , but he soon got it together as they both went inside and sat at one of the dark red crimson leather booths . Michael bounced in his seat , " man these things are comfy . " Jack bounced a little on his own seat , but he soon stopped as a waitress came by to take their order . she was a slender red head with cute nerd glasses , little freckles on her cheeks , her hair pulled up into a messy bun . Jack flashed a polite smile knowing jobs that served people were hard to put up with , " i'll just have a root beer float . " Michael wiggled his eyebrows at her , then he eventually ordered the same thing , asking for her number , but she politely declined . Jack smirked as she walked away with their order , " they don't seem to like you today . " Michael ignored the comment , pouting yet again . Jack reached over and slapped his beefy arm , " give it a rest . there are plenty of other fish in the sea . plus , there's more to life than just chicks . " Michael sighed , " yeah but the feisty ones at the beach are far better . they actually put up a fight . " Jack turned his head to gaze out the glass window to the left of him , " a fight you need to learn how to win . " after having said that , Michael said nothing as they waited for their order .

When Kaycee left the beach that evening, it was about 8:40. She didn't feel like putting on her dress over the wet bikini, so KC just wrapped the towel around her waist and then stuffed the dress into her beach bag. KC picked up the empty fruit plate and went on her way, departing the beach. She strode down the sidewalk and yawned , not aware of how tired she really was until then. Kaycee decided to have a fairly relaxing night. Stop at the store, pick up a tub of ice cream and then go home and watch Netflix. Kaycee walked on the sidewalk, making a beeline for the small market that was in her town. Kaycee passed the diner that Michael and Jack happened to be sitting in. She noticed Michael out of the corner of her eye and slowed only slightly. KC made it by the diner and went into the food market, picking out a tub of chocolate ice cream and then paid. She was actually kind of excited for a night like this, despite being alone. It was what Kaycee cherished the most. The brunette carried the cold pint in a plastic bag and let it bump against her leg as she passed the diner again, as her home was in that direction. The two boys were chatting up a storm, and Kaycee raised her head a little higher as she walked by. Kaycee made it home finally, and jumped into the shower. She threw off her bathingsuit and hung it up to dry after, then sat down with the ice cream in hand and a spoon in the other as she pulled up Netflix on her laptop.

Jack thanked the red haired girl as she brought back two root beer floats . the red head winked at Jack , ignoring Michael . Jack just smiled in return , knowing she must be a nice girl , but just not his type . he began to drink the float as his friend began chatting away about irrelevant things . he sucked on the straw as he watched people pass by . he drew his mouth away , a bit of icecream on his lip , as he saw the same brunette walk past the diner , flashing the two boys a quick glance . Jack raised a brow as she continued walking . after a couple of minutes , he saw her come back with a shopping bag . he tapped Michael , and nodded to the girl . Michael simply shrugged as if he'd never been rejected by her in the first place . he sure did loose his energy fast when getting rejected . Jack turned to Michael as she continued on her way , " this town is so damn small you can't go a day without seeing everyone at least three times a day . " he had a slight scowl on his face as he continued sipping his delicious treat .

after finishing their floats , and paying for it , him and Michael parted ways . it was dark outside , and as the hour ticked by , less people were walking down the streets . as Michael headed home , Jack continued down the sidewalk , enjoying the peace as the streetlights came on . after making his rounds past the neon signed shops , and other small businesses , he crossed over to the street where most of the neighborhoods lay . after looking down one street , Jack thought he saw a flash of the brunette , but he shook his head , figuring it was because he was tired .
after reaching his house , his parent's welcomed him home as he headed upstairs . he stripped down and took a quick hot shower , letting the water wash the day away , then brushing his teeth . after throwing on just his sweatpants , he plopped down onto his bed and flicked through the channels on his smaller TV until he felt too tired . after a while , his eyelids began to droop heavily , then fully closed , washing him into a deep sleep .
