Lily shied away from the hundreds of eyes upon her, looking to Grand in bewilderment and helplessness. She hated having people looking at her for presentations, let alone for no apparent reason at all. More of her human awareness had returned, the magic she possessed less dominant as she grew accustomed to it, a feat she had been born to do.
Grand took her arm, escorting her in the old-fashioned gentlemanly way, patting her arm to reassure her as he led her to one of the vender's carts, ordering her something vegan and another meal Lily was more used to eating, though she couldn't entirely concentrate with people's eyes still boring into her back. Grand tugged on a strand of his magic and the feeling of the many eyes' scrutiny ceased, to her complete relief. Grand had her carry her food, giving her something, however small, to distract herself with as they crossed the hall to an adjacent meeting room where conferences that had food were held. Once the door closed behind her, she felt far more comfortable, though she had no idea what would happen next in her previously completely mapped out life.

Ace stared at the unicorn that had entered the room, stunned by her beauty. For once, he was able to not only see her human form, but also her true form. She was a majestic white mare, her mane blowing around her like there was a strong breeze in the room. Her magnificent horn gave off a pure glow, just like the rest of her body. She appeared to walk with elegance, as if she wasn't actually walking but instead flying.
He could feel himself being drawn to her. All of his anxieties vanished, instead replaced with a warmth that traveled through his body. He felt the need to get closer to her, to let her aura surround him and take away all of his worries for the rest of eternity. He actually took a step towards the unicorn, but, after digging his nails into the palm of his hand, he quickly looked away. Ace took a deep breath to compose himself. His regular thoughts traveled through his brain once more, and he no longer felt the need to be by the unicorn's side.
"So that's your roommate," Ace mumbled to the girl still next to him, completely astonished. "She's almost like...like a drug. No wonder why unicorns were hunted down." he shivered at the thought of someone killing the unicorn and taking away her horn for their own pleasure. He quickly dispelled the thought. Muttering to himself, he said, "She might need protection."

"Well, she certainly puts other girls to shame, doesn't she?" Mairianne choked out, trying to crack a joke in the tense moment. It at least snapped her out of her own sadness at the absence of the unicorn's presence. Mairianne glanced around the room, glad to see that the magical prodding by Mr. Grand had snapped others out of the spell. She caught sight of Mr. Henry guarding the door the unicorn had walked down and shivered, "She's not lacking in any protection that could be afforded her," she nodded toward Henry, having heard his mutterings on the wind, and a half dozen magicals sitting together at the table closest the door, attempting to look entirely normal, to which Henry snubbed them to stand more obviously by the door. "Mr. Grand alone could likely take on a dragon, but with Henry there, it'd take at least a demigod to get through. Or another unicorn, but, you know, they'd probably just be let it." She smiled at her own words, her joyousness returning.

---------------------------------
| Lily
| Age: 18
| Mythical Creature: Unicorn
----------------------------------
Here she was, finally, the college of her dreams. And now she had no idea what to do now that she was here. Now that she knew she was a unicorn. Eating had made her feel a million times better; she had been so hungry, she'd eaten both meals, Grand explaining that unicorns were herbivores and that she may not have been able to stand meat any more now that her true form had been unlocked, but Lily had eaten it just fine, to her own pleasure. Now that her stomach was full and she had almost completely stopped absorbing lifeforce, now... she got down to the real problems: what her existence meant, what her exposure meant, and what she wanted to do about it. She laid her head on the table, all of her much too overwhelmed to do much else other than listen as Grand explained about the general social structure of the mythical community, about magic mail, and special enchanted encryptions in computers, about blending it, the college's history of teaching intelligent creatures how to advance themselves in the human world, about the two magic dorms, the magic teachers, that he and Henry helped make sure nothing went wrong, their emergency plans, then that humans couldn't see magic anymore, ever since all magic had shifted itself in the later medieval times, almost as though evolving or as though it had a mind of its own, instead humans saw something else that the magic concocted up to make the thing seem normal; if a creature appeared in its true form, it would be seen, but look like a costume or everyday creature. Most magic scientists (because there were such things) believed that this shift was the reason why so few mythicals could use magic anymore, how it had degraded over the centuries, since the magic had to work extra hard to keep its family, all mythicals, hidden. The whole 'magic is alive' thing was creepy, but... since Lily's magic seemed to come from living things, she supposed it could possibly make some sense. And to think that just yesterday she hadn't even known magic was real.
"Magic's doing a good job," she muttered onto the table's wooden finish, her breath making the wood, once alive, light up, then the light flicker and dim to return to its original state. She blinked in question at the table before looking up at Grand.
Grand paused in the midst of launching into his next subject, "What's that?" He asked, excitement still marking his voice, passion at a sharing knowledge of a subject he loved.
Lily took the moment to ask a question that had been bothering her, "So, if the entire world knows who I am now, and to be a unicorn, my parents must have been unicorns, what's keeping them safe right now from unicorn hunters the way I'm safe here?" She was tired, and her tiredness was still in her voice, but she asked with earnest.
"Oh," Grand looked confused, "didn't I already tell you?"
"No," she sighed out. Not even Grand's incubus allure could perk her up at the moment. She just wanted to sleep, but first she needed to be sure her family was safe.
"We sent a griffin to warn them as soon as you changed, before you'd even left my office, but when we arrived at your house, there was a note saying they knew what had happened and went into hiding," Grand was grinning, the only thought occupying his mind was that there were more of her race out there, but she was alarmed.
"They knew I found out I was a unicorn and they abandoned me to cope on my own? How did they find out? Did they know this was going to happen?" She stood suddenly, leaving her seat to pace in agitation, a habit she attributed to her newly equilian side.
"Are you all right dear?" Grand asked with a concerned frown, finally picking up on her upset.
Lily thought it out in her mind, explaining for herself with the little knowledge she knew of this new magical world, and of her parents, speaking aloud, going between a mutter to a full conversation with herself intermittently. "They probably didn't know this was going to happen, they probably freaked out when I changed. I guess they could have a sensor thing on me; they're the ones who likely set the concealment, and although they wanted to help, probably didn't want to risk drawing even more attention by adding two more unicorns to the situation here, drawing far more hunters. Instead, they likely used their magic to so out and warn the other unicorns, since there's likely a whole society of them, all helping and protecting and hiding each other. All unicorns are probably trying to send their children as defended as possible against discovery into the real world, to live normal lives and keep their race alive, quietly growing stronger and more in number, undiscovered and unknowing, so that no one will find out there are still unicorns and then begin the hunt for them, but now they've been undone by my exposure, after 800 years of hiding." She stopped pacing a moment, amazed by how horribly she had screwed up everything for her entire race. "I just wanted to go to college." She whispered, collapsing into tears like she had earlier that day, crying for her exposure, crying for an entire race, crying for those that would be hunted down because of her stupid application being sensed as magical, crying because her parents had left her alone to deal with this, crying at the eyes that had greedily followed her in the cafeteria, crying because she wasn't normal, crying because she had been raised normal, crying because her race was coveted as objects and not feeling beings, crying because magic had abandoned her to live this life in fear, hunted by all, and not enjoying the company of her family, as magic considered all mythicals. And she cried because before, she really had believed there was a God, but if all these myths were true and magic was real, what did that say about God?
Grand tried to comfort her, but after he got too close, a single live tree in the corner of the room grew with amazing speed long branches that stretched across the room and blocked him from coming any closer to her, as well as broke his magic touch with her, although she was unaware of how she had affected her surroundings by being upset, crying into her knees and hands, not really bothering with looking around her in her present unhappy state of mind, her wish and need to just be alone and cry prompting her friends magic and nature into action.

"Take out a dragon?" Ace raised an eyebrow, slightly smirking. He looked across the room at Mr. Henry and shivered. He didn't like the dean, mainly because he had an attitude and gave Ace a bad vibe. He much rather talk to Grand than the fishy-looking Henry.
Ace suddenly frowned, thinking about the girl's last comment. "'Another unicorn?' If there is one here, do you think there might be more out there? Maybe the unicorns are living together in safety somewhere, away from civilization to protect themselves?" A grin spread on his face as he talked, getting excited about the possibility of an extinct species actually being alive. "Maybe we should search for them and try to protect them-although, they haven't been seen in years so maybe it's better if they were just left alone." His shoulders slumped. It would be amazing to come across a group of hundreds of unicorns and to help them grow and repopulate, but they would most likely get hunted down yet again.

Kyle heard the word "unicorn" being spoken behind him, so he turned around and saw two strangers talking to each other-a boy and a girl. He could feel magic coming off of both of them, but he was only able to see the boy's true form. He was a large dragon, his shining scales a dark blue. Two black horns protruded from the top of his head, sharp enough to penetrate through metal. His wings were outstretched like he was about to take flight. He was a magnificent creature, but was nothing compared to the unicorn that had been in the cafeteria previously.
His mind going back to unicorns, he remembered the two students were talking about the beautiful equines. His heart raced from fear and anticipation as he opened his mouth to say something, but quickly closed it. He always said the wrong thing. He would either accidentally offend someone or confuse them, which caused an awkward situation he would rather avoid. But then again, they did seem like nice people and would probably be understanding if he said something weird. He took a deep breath and, speaking very softly, said, "I-I think it would be better to leave the unicorns alone." He looked down, unable to meet their eyes. Even though he looked sort of calm on the outside, he was freaking out in the inside.

Mairianne thought it over carefully, "I think you're both right," she sent an encouraging smile over at the newcomer, just her way, "I think the unicorns should be left alone as much as possible, but, at the same time, I think that if they are threatened, other mythical creatures like us should step up and help protect them..." Mairianne lapsed into a moment of quiet before continuing her thoughts aloud, chewing on her words as she spoke, "Since she's going to be my roommate, maybe I can convince her that some mythicals aren't out to hurt her and that if she finds herself in trouble, she can always call on us." She slowly nodded at her thoughts, soon after smiling with pleasure that she had thought up such a wonderful idea.

Ace thought about what she said for a few seconds before nodding, saying, "Sounds good. Oh, I'm Ace, by the way," he told her, realizing he had yet to give her his name. He glanced at the dark-haired boy who had just walked into their conversation, raising an eyebrow at him. "I have no clue what his name is." Before the boy could reply, he rambled on, "It might be better if we talked to her in person though. Just so we can meet face-to-face and she can determine whether we are trustworthy or not."

Ace? Wasn't his roommate supposed to be named Ace? Once Ace finished talking, Kyle quickly said, "I'm-uh-Kyle." He glanced at Ace and noticed he was frowning as he thought, as if the name was familiar, which probably meant this Ace was his roommate. Well, at least he wouldn't have to worry about introducing himself to his roommate later. "And I agree with Ace...I-I would like to meet the unicorn." He slightly smiled, although it was a little lop-sided, with the right side of his mouth raised higher than the left.

Mairianne smiled at their eagerness. Who wouldn't want to meet her? She thoughtfully studied the doors her roommate had disappeared behind. She whispered quietly, as though she had only just remembered (to remember) it, "Her name's Lily..." then turned back to her new friends. "I'm Mairianne, and she's Lily. I wouldn't get too excited though guys," she giggled a bit, "she won't feel that addictive," to quote Ace, "the next time we meet her. If he wants to have any peace whatsoever, Mr. Grand will have to either mostly conceal her true form, or lock her power away, as well as teach her how to do it herself. It's impossible for Mr. Grand ro hide all her presence, of course..." Mairianne sighed mentally. As long as she and her roommate were together, Mairianne would never be considered pretty or altogether interesting compared to Lily. Maybe it was a good thing, as she happened to have a bad case of pride, kind of typical for her race, and having people fawning over her all the time would have likely made her insufferably conceded. Still. That was going to suck. How would she ever get a boyfriend?
