A twig cracked under her soft paw and Asternose froze. The she-cat held her breath, ears flicking back and forth as she listened for something - anything. The muscles under her short fur relaxed after a period of time and she rose out of the crouch she had instinctively dropped into. The forest around her was silent and not a creature stirred. Not even the leaves rustled, having no wind to whisper to.
Continuing on her way, the young she-cat was careful not to step on anything else that might startle her. She was not used to being alone and, having been separated from her Clan after the fire swept through the plains and destroyed their home, the forest was foreign to her too. Though Asternose had been born in a forest, the Twolegs had invaded it before she even had a chance to step foot in it and the first home she remembered was the plains.
Her nose was constantly moving, taking in all of the new scents that were just now becoming known to her. Having a keen sense of smell, the light she-cat delighted in scenting new things. The smell of the forest earth was her favourite so far, rising from under her paws and surrounding her with its rich and aromatic scent. With it came a memory, a memory of the forest she was born in, but she had been too young to remember much then and the memory stayed tucked away in the back of her mind. Nevertheless, it was there, just as all the other memories linked to scents were. It only took a sniff for her to have a flashback of some sort sometimes.
The next scent Asternose picked up was that of prey. Though she was not sure exactly what kind of prey it was, as she had never smelled it before, she spotted it moments later, its grey pelt almost blending in with the beech it was sitting in front of. Dropping into a hunting crouch, the she-cat observed its fluffy tail and wrinkled her nose, wondering what the creature would taste like. It was busy chewing on a nut of some sort and, by the time it realized she was there, it was just a limp body hanging from her jaws.
Proud of her catch, the grey and beige warrior settled down to eat it. Just as she was about to take her first bite, she heard a noise coming from somewhere off to her side. Fur suddenly bristling, Asternose froze once more, using her keenest sense to discover what had made the sound. The smell that came to her was not one known to her either, but under the strong personal scent was a smell she knew well - the smell of another cat.
{{Who could it be? D: You decide!

Shouldering his way through the thick canopy as his eyes wandered and his mind pondered. Up-turning his snout to face the wind, a gentle breeze flew into his fur as his nostrils flexed with the smell of a cat in the forest. Turning his head back down, he twitched an ear forward as his eyes and face turned slightly to the right, his eyes calculating as his tail flicked. Turning back, he continued on as he felt himself brush against un-born and shriveled ferns as he felt their useless seeds fall to the ground. His flank fell with each breath as the forest was silent besides the occasional sound of the river near by. Shaking out his paws, he glanced around wearily once more, knowing someone was close by. Soon, the infamous smell of a cat drifted by.
Shaking his fur, he sped up his pace, struggling to get away from the cat. Not wanting to get into a scrap with them, he withdrew into a small hedge that bordered a covered stream. He could hear small minnows splashing in the surface of the stream, their water rippling as their small frail bodies continued to work upstream. The water was crystal clear; it was the only sound. He turned his body, letting his head take a full view of the hedge he was in. A dark tunnel led throughout the hedges, connected by frail skinny branches. Shaking his fur, he army-crawled along the tunnel, flattening his ears so they wouldn't get caught or pricked on the spiny branches. His tail barely stirred as he felt a deep breath overtake his body.
As he continued on, he pricked his ears as the cat was unwarily coming closer. Hissing slightly, he turned and positioned his body to attack if need, his paws kneading the ground as he watched the cat. Unable to tell who it was, he figured they were either a loner or they weren't from his former clan. Though he was exiled over a season ago, he still knew the smells of the forest; he would never forget that. Even though his owner called him 'Jasper' he continued silently with the name Beechstar. He wanted to prove to his clan that he could survive; but unfortunately the two-legs had destroyed half his forest. This half was also where his former clan was. He guessed they had moved on now; but he would be determined to find them. Growling, he alerted the cat to his presence, and his eyes glowed eerily from the hedge as he watched the cat waver.

{Sorry, its sort. Last few days of school and i got lots of homework today. so yeah,........ cant wait till school is over} ┏ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ┓
HAZELSPOTS
{Grassclan} → {23 moons } → {She-cat}
Tᴀɢɢᴇᴅ;; { Unknown cats }

Hazelspots opened both of her eyes as the sun burned onto her pelt, There were no clouds to be seen for about a mile and it was blazing hot. She got up giving her pelt a quick lick before she went hunting. At first being alone in the forest seemed scary to her, but as the time passed her fear had gotten better. It felt just like yesterday that the huge dog attacked her, if it had not been for that one animal. She would still be in her cozy nest in Grassclan camp. she always wondered if she would die in this forest. alone and sad. At that very second she heard a twig crack, she turned around quickly to face the two cats that lay in her way.
