Serene immediately dropped the plank the moment she heard the word shallow. She couldn't help smiling a little, despite the fact that she felt the most terrible she ever had in her life, not to mention she probably had splinters from the wooden board. At Roland's offer, her eyes widened. "Really?" she asked, voice sweet. "That would be nice, thank you. I'm probably going to be heavy though." She picked at her waterlogged skirts by way of explanation, giving a slight grimace at how much water they'd absorbed; all that expensive material, ruined for sure. As he approached, it was as if she suddenly noticed he was shirtless, and she felt her face flush. Admiring shirtless ship workers, this was what she had come to.
Serene forced her eyes to travel past Roland and to the not-so-distant shore, taking in the beauty of the gleaming golden beach and the looming jungle behind it. It looked utterly untouched by any human, which frightened her a little. She refrained from saying anything though, knowing her words wouldn't be appreciated, and she didn't fancy being left out here to die if she offended any of these people.

"Yes, Lady Aurora," Jonathan mimicked in a servile tone that he knew would annoy her to no end. "Maybe we should find some fresh water too before we all die of thirst." He leaped into the water, pleased to find it only came up to his waist, and put his hand out to help Aurora off the raft. He grinned at her blissful expression and flicked a few droplets of water at her when she closed her eyes. "Come on, do you need a strong man to carry you too?" he asked insolently, watching as Roland acted the chivalrous male as always to that spoilt ninny.
With a sigh of delight, he fell backward into the water, closing his eyes as some of the water spalshed around him. When he reopened them, he was staring up at the sky, bobbing slightly on the gentle waves. Whoever thought he would be so happy to feel solid ground under his feet, when he'd spent most of his growing years on a ship?
