ALPHA & ALPHESS
They're the top of the Pack Hierarchy. Normally, they will lead the Pack until their deaths, but in the past, some have chosen to retire. If one of the Alphas dies, the surviving one can still continue leadership, with the option of ruling alone or taking another mate. The two work together to set the rules of the Pack and make all decisions that will affect the Pack. Each time new Alphas come to power, they have the option of choosing new Council members, Head Fighters and Hunters, as well as a new Beta.

HEIR
The Heir is the chosen pup of the Alphas who will rule after the current Alphas die. If the Alphess does not provide the Alpha will offspring, an Heir may be selected from the Alpha's nieces and nephews, or the Alpha can have a Maiden bare his pups. An Heir is selected as the pups become Apprentices, but the Heir is still expected to train as a Warrior, while also being taught the ways of leadership.

BETA
The Beta is the consultant to the Alphas. He or she may be given minor tasks, such as passing on messages or choosing mentors for the Apprentices, so that the leaders can focus on other (more important) things. The Beta is the second-in-command, and if an Heir is not chosen by the Alphas before their death, then the Beta is the one to take over. The the Alphas die before their Heir completes his or her Apprenticeship, then the Beta will become a temporary Alpha.

BONE READER
The Bone Reader is the fortune teller and healer of the Pack. They "read" the bones of both prey and sacrificed wolves to see what the future holds. The Bone Reader is in close communications with the dead and would be the one to receive prophecies. The Bone Reader can use medicinal herbs to treat the sick and wounded as well.

SANGUINIST
The Sanguinist the Pack's assassin, and is the one to kill sacrifices as well. He or she is very skilled in the art of murder. The Sanguinist will kill traitors, prisoners, or even their Pack-mates upon the Alphas' orders. In times of battle, the Sanguinist may be ordered onto the battlefield to cull the enemies, or even sneak into the enemy camp and do damage there as well.

GUARDIANS
The Guardians of the Pack have trained as Warriors and have showed great fighting skills. They are suggested by the council, and the alphas select them to then train to become Guardians. Guardians are the wolves that protect the Alphas and the Heir. They serve as bodyguards, but also patrol the territory for intruders. Guardians are highly respected by the rest of the Pack.

WARRIORS
Warriors make up the bulk of the Pack. They are the ones to hunt, fight, and go on patrols. They are expected to give up their lives to save their Pack, and must always serve their Alphas. Warriors will be given Apprentices that they will mentor and teach to hunt and fight to protect future generations.

APPRENTICES
Half-yearlings that begin training to become Warriors, unless selected to train for another rank (Sanguinist, Bone Reader, etc.). They are given a Mentor to train them in the ways of their rank, and when they have proven themselves worthy, they will graduate.

PUPS
Pups are young wolves, under six months old, that are not ready to begin their Apprenticeship. They are to always remain in camp to keep them out of trouble.

MAIDENS
She-wolves whose sole job is to populate the Pack. Maidens do not take mates. Instead, they are "paired" with a he-wolf who wishes to have pups with her. It is like a temporary mateship, that only lasts until the pups are weaned. Maidens are seen as worthless to the Pack, because they do not have a job as important as the rest. They often are mistreated by the others because of their status. Maidens cannot pair with Servants or Prisoners though.

SERVANTS
These are prisoners who have yet to prove their worth to the Pack, but have vowed on their life that they will remain loyal to the Pack. Until they prove themselves, they are servants, doing anything from cleaning out dens to fetching prey for other members of the Pack.

PRISONERS
These are loners, members of the rival pack, and traitors that have been caught in the Pack's territory and are captured, or traitors, that refuse to be loyal to the Pack or haven't been given the opportunity yet. They are prime candidates for sacrifices and Sanguinist Apprentice training.
