Shadow | Alpha | L-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
When Shadow stepped out of her den, the first thing she noticed was how the wind, light as it was, penetrated her thick fur. It wasn’t a promising sign. That wind meant that the day was cool with the first chill of winter setting in. She had long since expected that fall would be coming to a close soon, but she had hoped for a couple more weeks of decent hunting, but such was not to be. Hopefully they’d have the chance to stock up on prey before all the critters fled or went underground to hibernate. They had the right idea.
Not many others were around from the looks of it. She spotted a few scattered wolves, but not many early risers today. She couldn’t blame them. With the chill, most wolves would likely prefer to stay in their dens, where it was nice and warm, and relatively sheltered from the harsh wind. She herself might have done the same had she not been an Alpha who had to assign duties to the wolves who had for whatever reason roused themselves already.
Leo | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Leo did NOT want to leave the relative safety of his nest. Normally he was up with the sun, an early bird, but on days like this…well, he was only seeing his second winter now, born late in the season a year and a half ago. He wasn’t used to this kind of cold. His nest was warm and when he lifted his head and peered out the den entrance, he could feel the wind stinging his eyes, a sharp, piercing sting. He didn’t want to be out in that. Not yet anyway.
Leo knew he couldn’t just hide forever though. Eventually someone would yell at him to get up and ready for the day, so he reluctantly sat up, spending a drawn-out period of time grooming his fur, a ritual he didn’t generally engage in, not particularly caring what he looked like, but that would buy him just a little extra time to spend in the warmth of the Warriors' den. Patrol by the border today…that was going to be a nightmare, but maybe getting moving would help him warm up.
Smoke | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
"Good moooorning! Time to get up everyone! The sun's up, the day's started!" Smoke cheered, racing out of the den and into the main clearing to wake up the rest of the pack as she did every morning of her life so far without fail. Okay, so maybe she found it vaguely amusing to try and annoy the other wolves, see what kinds of reactions she could draw out of them.
Smoke knew that some of the others were annoyed with her. After all, her shenanigans would wear someone's patience thin after a while. She knew the glares she got from various wolves, and how Shadow rolled her eyes at her former Trainee. She always found it a great source of entertainment, and a good way to start the day. For her, at least.
Fish | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: River | Location: Camp
"Goooood morning, friend o' mine!" Fish chirped, skidding to a halt next to River, shortly after falling out of her tree, startled yet again— and honestly! It had been almost two years, so she figured she really shouldn’t be anymore— by Smoke's shouting. "I’m gonna head down to the river for a swim, the water's pretty low for this late in the season. Wanna come with?"
The river was Fish's safe place. She was aptly named. While a wolf COULD swim, most wolves didn’t WANT to. Fish didn’t care about how the water made her thick, long fur cling to her body, or how her muscles ached after a good swim. It was a good kind of ache, she'd decided. Swimming was underrated, and she would gladly take a swim, or teach someone else to swim if they wished.
Karter | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Karter's gaze shifted towards Smoke as she screamed at their Packmates. He’d been awake and sitting in the corner of camp for some time now, and was glad he’d already wakened, or else he would’ve been grumpy enough to have sunk his claws into her fur. He suspected there may be some grumpy, groggy wolves who may have similar thoughts. Personally, Karter couldn’t care less. He was already awake, so it didn’t bother him aside from the sound being so high pitched and shrill, disturbing the air.
Karter rolled his eyes, a low growl rumbling in his throat. Noise. Lovely. That was just what he needed as soon as the sun was up. He rose to his feet and shook out his fur, slowly breathing out. Why was it that the wolves closest to his own age were always the most annoying ones? He glanced around camp to see who else was up, taking note of the fact wolves were slowly emerging from their dens and into the cold winter air.
Blizzard | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: Louve | Location: Camp
Blizzard glared at Smoke as he pushed his way out of the Warriors' den. He wasn’t surprised by the announcement in the least, this was normal. Good lord though, he’d been much happier before that accursed she-wolf had been born. That made him feel old, thinking about it. He’d been her age at the time she had been born. No. He had been older. He scanned the camp, but could find no trace of the wolves he usually spoke with. So he padded over towards the nursery, poking his head in, eyes falling on the form of his sister.
The white Warrior was quiet for a while, eyes settled on the form of his sister's white pelt. Was this real? It couldn’t be. She was here, a den mother, laying in the nursery with pups curled close to her. He certainly didn’t want to disturb her so early, but she needed to be up and have some food before it was gone and they would have to wait for the Hunters to return. "Louve? Do you want me to grab you something to eat?" Blizzard asked.
It was still so unbelievable to him. He had never been sure how to feel about Denzell taking Louve as his mate and vice versa, much less the fact that his little sister— who he had practically raised— now had pups of her own to raise. He knew about the tension between her and Denzell, and it wounded him to see her unhappy. He himself had no mate, and he had watched his little sister fall head over heels, turn aside the flaws of the wolf she called her mate. On one hand, he hoped they could fix it and grow together. On the other hand, if they split at some point, aside from the pups, he would’ve assumed it was a good thing.
Uciel | Healer Trainee | L-Pack | Tagging: Lucas | Location: Camp
"Hey, Lucas?" Uciel emerged from the Healer's den when he had noticed his stomach starting to complain. Breakfast time. The Hunters would surely go out later, so he didn’t have to feel guilty about taking food so early on in the day. The black wolf slicked back his coat, eyes settling on his friend when he straightened and faced forward again.
"Uh…do you wanna maybe…like…eat together or something? I mean, if you haven’t already or something. I’m just hungry and miss talking to you." Sky-dogs. How long had it been since they’d had the time to actually sit down and talk? With winter right around the corner, Uciel had been busy stocking up on as many herbs as he possibly could before they all died out for the season.
Lex | Pup | L-Pack | Tagging: Snarl, Denzell | Location: Camp
"Hey aunt Snarl!" Lex called, slipping out of the nursery and past Blizzard, nodding to his uncle as he passed. They didn’t speak much. That was normal, Blizzard didn’t talk to many wolves in general, very much the introverted type. Snarl was the relative he had connected most with aside from his own littermate. The black furred pup stopped in front of Snarl. "What’re you up to?"
As a brown and white wolf came up next to him, Lex flattened his ears against his head, smiling sheepishly. He wasn’t technically supposed to be out of the nursery before Louve was awake, but she’d slept in and he’d gotten restless. "Hi dad…" he had an odd dynamic with his father, simultaneously clinging to him when he wasn’t fighting with Louve, and pushing him away for fear the wolf would separate from their little family.
Night | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: Chronos | Location: Camp
Night growled deep in her throat at the sound of Smoke's calling, and marched out of the den. "Hey! Quit your yapping already, will ya?" She brushed past the younger she-wolf pointedly, examining the prey pile, small. Nothing particularly appealed. Nothing fresh, and nothing big, and nothing plump enough to be as juicy as she liked best. Fine. She would just eat later.
Night scanned the camp. "Hey! Chronos, come spar with me. Gotta keep our skills fresh, eh? I’m outta practice." Her brother had stopped training with her daily, so she hadn’t trained in a few days, and it felt like she was sorely out of practice. She wasn’t suitable trainer material either, so she didn’t have a Trainee she could train to test her skill and memory.
Denzell | Warrior | L-Pack | Tagging: Lex, Snarl | Location: Camp
"Hey there, kiddo." Denzell gently nudged his son's shoulder. He knew the pup wasn’t supposed to leave the nursery yet, but Louve would wake soon, and Blizzard had seen the pup leave, he’d explain if she freaked out. Besides, a month and a half or so and they’d be Trainee age! They weren’t infants anymore. He turned his gaze on Snarl. Having been adopted, he’d grown up alongside her as his sister, and had come to love her more than anyone. She was the one who threw hands if someone pushed him to the point where he couldn’t manage it.
"Hey Snarl. Morning." Denzell stepped forward and gently licked his sister's cheek. He couldn’t help but be thankful for his family, small as it was. Snarl, his sister. Lex and Delilah, his precious, darling pups, even if he wasn’t the best father in the world, his adoptive mother, the wolf who had raised him from near infancy, and of course, Louve, his beautiful mate. They’d been fighting recently, but he didn’t love her any less for it. It was idle frustration. Hard to move past after the fact, but the fact remained that he had never intended to hurt her…and had no idea what was even wrong.
"You up to anything interesting today?" Denzell asked. Usually things in camp were always just same old, same old, but there was never a day that he DIDN'T ask, just in case something changed there that he could get in on. A chance to escape the usual would be more than welcome at this point, really.

Max | Alpha | F-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Max emerged from his den. The prey pile was low and the day was disturbingly cold for fall. Winter would set in soon. He growled in frustration. He’d anticipated they’d have more time than this. Alas, that hope appeared to have been thwarted. The Hunters would have to go out, and he would set the Warriors to spar, keep their skills fresh as possible. Then there was the matter of appointing the Beta, having lost his second Beta to illness a week ago. He had ruled for four years, and had two Betas pass in that time. He was frankly tired of seeing them go.
At least this time he knew who he wanted to appoint. He was sure it would come as no surprise to anywhere when he appointed her as his second in command. One of the few wolves he would call a friend, and one of their most capable wolves. Someone who would be able to rule with a firm hand after he had gone, as he approached his old age. He scanned the camp in hopes of finding her.
Móraín | Warrior | F-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Móraín had been up for much longer than she would have liked. However, it was better early than late, she reasoned. She was able to watch as wolves emerged from their dens, as they reacted to the ever shrinking prey pile or the cold that now filled the air. She wasn’t a fan of it either, but at least she had her winter coat already growing in. She wasn't exactly READY for winter, but as her gaze settled on Sira, pelt still thin, not yet grown, the she-wolf couldn’t help but feel just a little bit better about herself.
Móraín had already made a point of eating and being done with her meal before most of the other wolves had roused themselves. There was no need to crowd the prey pile when there were hungry wolves who were grumpy about the cold, harsh wind around. She had laid down on the grass, cool to the touch, but not entirely unpleasantly so, to relax before the day's work would start.
Catania | Hunter | F-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Catania had been staring down at the prey pile for a while, scowling at it. She’d tugged a small rabbit out, sighing. The Hunters were trying, they really were. As one of them, she knew that, but so often these days, they would come back ashamed and empty handed. When had their last big haul been? She couldn't even remember. That must’ve been right after she had resumed her delayed training after her illness.
"Soon these things are gonna get gross and old and start rotting if we don’t use them. Eat up while you guys can!" She called to the wolves who had already awakened and drawn themselves from their dens. She herself started into the rabbit she had dragged out, settling herself in a corner of camp.
Sira | Warrior | F-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Sira could feel the chill of the wind through the tiny holes in the Warrior den, and it brought a quiet growl to her throat. Unlike her elder siblings, her litter had not been blessed with their father's thick fur, so the cold went straight through her, chilling her to the bone, even in the relative warmth of her nest. She definitely didn’t want to get up yet, but what choice did she have if she wanted to be a productive Packmate and earn her keep?
So the red and white she-wolf dragged herself reluctantly from the den and stepped into the clearing, shuddering at the touch of cold grass under her paws. "Any Warriors available for a patrol with me by the West border?" She asked, noticing several wolves— and plenty of them Warriors— were already out and simply milling around.
Acero | Warrior | F-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Acero had woken early, and the day had warmed considerably since he had first emerged from the Warrior den. That said, there was still an uncomfortable chill in the air. Ah, yes, the cold season was beginning to set in. He heaved a sigh, he didn’t mind the cold, what he minded was the eventual snow that would slow patrols down and freeze the stream they drank from, and the lack of food they would suffer through. Winter also more often than not brought weakness and illness to their Pack, and such things could rob an unlucky wolf of their very life if there wasn’t the proper care given.
Sometimes, Acero wondered. He’d left his birth Pack quite some time ago. His sister still dwelled there, and as their Alpha, no less. His nephew that he had never had the honour of meeting too. He hoped one day that would change. He had never regretted changing Packs though. Fire Pack was his home. This was where he had been meant to be.
Kazill | Warrior | F-Pack | Tagging: Blaze | Location: Camp
Kaz caught sight of Blaze almost immediately upon emerging from the Warriors' den. He sidled up to his companion and gently bumped against his shoulder. Okay. So his crush on Blaze was no secret, and he tried to hint at it with idle touches, to the shoulder, or brushing against his side when they walked, but he was never sure if he brought the point across.
"Hey Blaze. Been up long?" He asked. The brown furred Warrior paused for a moment. He was always a little TOO worried about coming off wrong, or sounding awkward around the other wolf. "If you haven’t already, feel like grabbing some breakfast or something?" He suggested.
Ryder | Warrior | F-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Ryder had intended to come out and see if he could catch up with the much earlier riser Kaz, but by the time he emerged from the den, Kaz had already gone off to find Blaze. Ryder wasn’t at all surprised by this. The Warrior's crush on Blaze was quite obvious, and he was sure Kaz wasn’t even making an effort to hide it anymore at this point. If so, mission accomplished.
So, with that out of the way, Ryder nodded towards them in greeting, unsure if they would even see it, and instead changed direction to head for the prey pile, staring down at it listlessly. All the prey would be cold and small at this late in the season, and it left him with an uneasy feeling. There was nothing he as a Warrior could do about it though.
Jasmin | Healer | F-Pack | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Jasmin swept her gaze over the collection of herbs. So small, dismayingly so. There was very little time to grow the collection too. She sighed quietly. It wasn’t quiet in the Healer's den in Fire Pack, a Pack renowned for their aggressive temperaments and fighting abilities. Jasmin herself was stubborn and willing to stand up to someone if need be, but she generally tried not to cause more drama than she absolutely had to.
The grey and white she-wolf slipped out of the Healer den. No food to speak of that caught her attention. Her stomach almost seemed to shrink at the sight of their meagre rations. She would save it for the wolves who would go out hunting and bring back more much needed food. Maybe she could send someone or go herself to look for any last herbs of the season.
Mattias | Warrior | F-Pack | Tagging: Chaos | Location: Camp
Mattias had no sooner emerged from his den than caught sight of a friend. Well that was a good way to start the day. Mattias was a rather social wolf in general, and always happy to sit down and have a chat. Maybe grab some breakfast together before all the food was gone. So he approached Chaos, dipping his head to his companion.
"Good morning. Hope you slept well," He greeted. "Want to grab some breakfast with me before we get assigned to patrols or sparring?" He suggested. He didn’t at all mind their work, and in fact, he quite enjoyed it, but it always relieved him to have a little free time first to chat up a friend.
