EARTH
Moonlight | Chief | Earth | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Moonlight slipped out of her den and stretched, easing out every last bit of tension in her muscles, pausing by the den entrance to neatly groom her sleek black coat into a place and rid her pelt of a few scraps of mossy bedding. A Chief must look presentable at all times! She liked to think she was a respectable cat in general, and that meant looking the part.
Moonlight had to choose her Second, and soon. If something were to happen to her now, the role would go to her advisor, and while it was a backup, it still wasn’t ideal unless they were promoted directly. So it was time to choose a Second and properly appoint then. Well, Second and Leads, really, after the retirement of her old Lead Hunter, the slot was open, and then the untimely deaths of the Lead Guard and Second had left her with even more slots to fill. That meant keeping a sharp eye. Talking to everyone, watching them, seeing how they dealt with situations in order that her eye could pick out the cats most suited to the tasks.
Kassandra | Hunter | Earth | Tagging: Echo, Gale | Location: Camp Entrance
Kass had risen for some early morning hunting. The den was crowded, and it had been damaged by the recent rains. Kass was just the unlucky sap whose nest seemed to be right under one of the holes that dripped lingering water onto her. And it had meant no sleep for the past two days. That meant low energy for her work; And low patience for the stupidity of others. Or just for others in general. She was trying though.
Kass had managed to find a pair of mice, still surprisingly plump for this time of year. I supposed it’s valid, since it’s still only the beginning of the cold season. She reasoned, slipping into camp and heading for the Healers' den, pausing just outside, setting the mice down. "Gale? Echo? Lovelies? I brought in breakfast for our lovely Healers."
Winter | Den-Tender | Earth | Tagging: Ada | Location: Camp
Winter had been in the nursery since dawn, practically. The water droplets hadn’t bothered her much, with her thick, fluffy fur, but she’d been unable to fall asleep again regardless. She’d only gone outside once that day, to get a shrew and lay it at her companion's paws.
"Ada? I brought you some food. You need to keep up your strength." Winter took her job seriously. She was a Den-Tender. She was supposed to take care of the nursery inhabitants, and for now, that was Ada. She expected sooner rather than later though, there would be more she-cats in here for her to tend to. It was a heavy weight, being the only Den-Tender at current, but she wasn’t about to complain. She loved her work.
Kade | Captain | Earth | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Kade slipped from the Guard den and stretched. There was much to do today, despite their lack of Trainees. However, that would change in just a matter of months, once Ada's kits were born. It was exciting to see new birth in their Pride, as always. Kade had always hoped that one day he might have a family too, but he wasn’t holding out for it. It wasn’t his sole purpose in life, just a distant dream. Even so, he couldn’t help but think of how lucky Ada was.
The ginger cat's dark blue gaze swept over camp, slow and analytical. It was late in the morning, and already, folks were up and going for the day. Their Chief was out of her den, a couple Hunters returning from an early hunt. Guards gradually trailing from the den. Time to eat, relax for a few minutes, then get on with the day.
Hunter | Vice-Captain | Earth | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Hunter slowly followed Kade out of the den, trailing behind him and squinting against the harsh sunlight, having awaited his friend's rousing to get moving for the day. Lazy days were his favourite, and he wasn’t too eager to be out where it was still damp, but he couldn’t linger around here forever. Someone was bound to give him hell about it if he tried to shirk his duties, and it wouldn’t be being a team player.
Micah | Hunter | Earth | Tagging: Crystal | Location: Camp
Micah drew herself from the den and shook off her fur, fluffed up from the water's rain being shaken out, so she looked more like a dark brown puffball than anything else, but she was fine with that. The rains had been devastating the past week. Minimal prey, damage to the shelter from the wind, it was a mess in general, really. There was a lot of work to be done, and only one cat who had the rank in which to do it. That was hardly fair of them to put on Crustal'd shoulders alone, and Micah had nothing better to do for the time being.
"Hey, Crystal! Sorry there'll be so much work today with all the wind and rain this week. I know it’s not much, but if you’ll let me, I’d be glad to help." Micah may not be a very BIG wolf overall, but she was more than happy to pitch in where she could, even if she wasn’t going to be very good at it.
Whisper | Guard | Earth | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Whisper was a late sleeper, and only woke at the sound of voices in camp, then slid out of the den, not bothering to slick back his ruffled pale grey fur. Whisper wasn’t as worried with his appearance as his mother was. He tended to try not to draw attention to the fact that he was related to the Chief. Not that he was ashamed, he loved Moonlight, really, but he simply didn’t want anyone bowing down or treating him different because of his lineage.
Echo | Healer | Earth | Tagging: Kass, Gale | Location: Camp
Hearing the Huntress' call from just outside the den, Echo turned from her herb collection. Her knowledge— as every Healer's— was limited, but present, and she was running low on the herbs she would need this time of year. However…there was surely time for breakfast first. She gently nudged her young Trainee's shoulder.
"Gale, food time. Kass has been nice enough to bring us breakfast." They’d have plenty of work to do that day, while they were still in early fall and could still salvage and replenish their herb store, but it wouldn’t hurt them to take a couple minutes to eat first. Especially when Kass had been considerate enough to go hunting early in the morning just for them.
STORM
Móraín | Advisor (and Guard) | Storm | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Móraín had been up for a surprisingly long time by the time the others had begun to rise and prepare for the day, having risen with the sun, as she tried to do every day. She had to be present and alert should her Chief need her upon first waking. It had happened before. Soon it would be time to choose the Second and Leads, and if he required guidance, then as Advisor, it was exactly her job to take care of that.
Karter | Guard | Storm | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Karter poked at the dwindling prey pile, frowning. It was almost DANGEROUSLY low after the prey had hidden from the rain the majority of that week. The Hunters had minimal luck when the weather decided to be cruel. It was not so harsh today though. He finally picked out a robin, one of his favourites, which cheered him up just a little, he decided. Then he took it off to a corner of camp to eat where he wouldn’t be underfoot of the other cats.
Shade | Guard | Storm | Tagging: Kesteral | Location: Camp
"Kesteral, Katherine, I know it’s a bit to ask before the day's even begun and duties have been officially assigned, but since nobody seems to have done it already, I’m taking out a patrol by the border, check for activity, and not all the Guards are awake yet. Would the two of you mind accompanying me as the other members?" Shade requested, smoothing smoky grey fur back and approaching her Pridemates, curtly, briefly dipping her head in greeting to the two.
Ryder | Guard | Storm | Tagging: Wilted | Location: Camp
Having risen a bit later than he usually did, Ryder groomed back his fur and headed to the prey pile, snatching up a pair of rabbits, scrawny as they may be with the season— and he knew it would only get worse with time the next few months— and dragged it over towards the familiar figure that was Wilted. Considered to have once been a beautiful she-cat, now following her namesake, wilting with her age. And yet…she was still beautiful in Ryder's eyes. Even if she didn’t have the luxurious pelt or shining eyes of a youngster, even if she didn’t have the energy of a two year old, he never failed to look at her and think of her as anything shy of stunning.
"Wilted? I…uh…I brought you some breakfast, in case you haven’t eaten yet," Ryder noted, nudging one of the rabbits towards his fellow Guard. He knew it was just the obvious, but he had zero idea how to initiate a conversation to get her attention, aside from a simple greeting and an offering.
Kazill | Guard | Storm | Tagging: Open | Location: Camp
Kaz had much risen later than…well, most of his Pridemates, but did he care? Not in the least. The only downside of taking a bit of a lazy day was that it meant he was late to get to the prey pile, and others would likely have taken advantage of it to get the plumpest, biggest prey. Pity too. Kaz was hardly a small cat, he needed the fuel, but he figured he couldn’t really complain. After all, it was his own fault, was it not?
