Cypress narrowed her eyes as her tail gently slowed to a stop. "Not quite. But close. This was were rabbits used to have deep burrows, until they moved on and the pheasants began to make their nests." She raised an eyebrow, taking a careful step over a small twig. "I'm surprised you could smell that, with it being stale and all. Impressive!" she commented, keeping her voice low as the star-speckled birds came into view.

"Yeah, a couple hours or a day...that’s what I’m not sure of," he admitted.

Cypress's fluffy tail disturbed the starry grass as she silently snuck closer to the sprit-birds. She checked back quickly to make sure the Warrior was following, then flicked her tufted ear as her watchful gaze returned to the pheasants. "Four, no three, no yeah four.." she mumbled, narrowed her eyes as her shoulders twitched with anticipation. "Acero, would you like to try and hunt one down? Pheasants really aren't that smart even after they're dead."

"Clearly not, if they’re dead in the first place," he half joked, but nodded. He wasn’t small of super stealthy like a Hunter, but he was strong, and fast.

The Trainee let out a soft giggle as she flicked a celestial-furred ear in the direction of the birds, urging him to at least give it an attempt. "Go ahead and try! You never know if you'll be able to or not if you don't do it." Her eyes shifted to the squeaking pheasants. "Don't worry about trying to make the perfect kill. I'll come alongside you, but if we miss them there's always another chance." She narrowed her pale-colored eyes as her fur twitched.

He nodded. That made sense. Hunters had incredible patience, perhaps he could too. After all...there was hardly anything to do anyway. They had all the time in the world. He kept himself as low as he could, moving forward and making sure his long belly fur didn’t brush the dirt underneath him as he moved forward, eyes on the pheasant, and he leapt at the nearest one.

Cypress crept alongside Acero, carefully stepping over a small sprout. She waited a couple moments, then bolted forwards as the Warrior charged at the starry bird. It squawked in obvious fright and its wings flailed around. It rustled its celestial feathers everywhere, trying to look big, puffy and extremely daunting. Wasn't quite that amazing of a defense, if you could even call it that. The animal panicked, trying to wave off the wolf with its fluffy wings. Cypress squinted as she flinched towards it on instinct but held back her urge. Instead, she swiftly fell into position in case Acero missed the pheasant and it went sprawling to one of the clear exits.

The black Warrior lunged. It was...definitely not a graceful catch, but he managed to pin it and snap the creature's neck. He deduced, looking at the messy kill and the feathers that had fluttered here and there, that he had chosen the right path, and would NOT have made a great Hunter.

Cypress winced the slightest bit as she gave a nice, long look at the starry bird. "That was.. indeed a nice catch." she said slowly, fumbling for words. "I am absolutely and completely sure a few... tips and guides would improve your hunting skills." she wheezed, blinking furiously. She didn't know what to say, as she really didn't want to sound mean. The Trainee did mean it, it was a great kill for a new Starris wolf, and a Warrior nonetheless.

"Heh...like I said, I’m not a Hunter and have basically no experience," Acero pointed out, but he HAD made the kill, which was... a start. He nudged it towards her. "Wanna share?"
