stifling a small yawn, the rust-furred brute's eyes fluttered open. the canine had just awoken from his nap, burrs tangled in his soft fur. he lifted a kind paw to his ear, giving it a few good scratches before he clambered to his feet. he wrinkled his nose, swinging his head back and forth as he scanned the area. everything seemed to be in check.

only a blur against the surrounding forest, a lithe figure raced through the woods. her fur whipped in the wind, pink tongue lolled out. she wasn't doing anything in particular; just enjoying herself. she took a sharp turn, coming to a halt at the river. her breath was shallow, struggling to catch it. soon she was better, and she was lapping at the clear water.

.....Jona looked over, mildly surprised, as her name was called. She saw her alpha step through the trees, white coat gleaming, and lowered her head respectfully. "Starfall," she greeted her. "You're out late." she commented, cocking her head slightly as she sat, tail flicking idly.

Atticus looked around her as she heard Sniper's voice. "Sniper?" She whispered as she looked towards the shadows. Her eyes narrowing as she watched for movement. She padded towards it slowly.

Starfall smiled a little, "I'm not very tired, what are you still doing up?" She spoke softly, her eyes gleaming. She looked into the Nefarious territory. "Soon will be the meeting" She barked quietly. The two packs meet once every two years, they are often at peace and discuss problems they are facing.

The brute padded out into clear view of the female, he was happy that he got to see Atticus again but he was also slightly worried "are you sure your okay here? I saw you getting mad at the brute?"He asked his eyes flickering in concern but also passion for the fea as he looked at her.

.....Jona smiled, shrugging her broad shoulders. "I wasn't tired, either. I thought I'd check the border one last time before turning in for the night." she replied. She followed her alpha's gaze as Starfall mentioned the meeting.
"Do you think we'll ever make peace with them?" she asked softly.

Starfall threw her head to the side, "Honestly? I doubt it." She was speaking clearly but it sounded raspy. Starfall had been slightly sick for a month or so now, she didn't take it seriously. She had almost completely ignored it, she hadn't told anyone either. "We should be going" With that Starfall dipped her ead and padded off silently towards her den.

Atticus shook her head, tears now falling down her cheeks. "No, I- I don't know what happened." She whispered softly. Her ears were constantly moving, in search of Nefarious waking from his sleep. She was nervous the whole time they were talking. Atticus leaned onto Sniper.

The brute looked at her with his gentle hazel eyes, "You don't have to stay here, you can run away, I will protect you."He said gently wiping away her tears, "They won't harm you or do anything you to you again."He said softly as she leaned on him.

Atticus was surprised by Sniper's words, "I-I can't just leave. What if Nefarious finds out?" She whispered. Her voice was timid and nervous. She looked into his eyes and waited, she couldn't just leave, could she?

The brute continued his warm smile before he replied "If he does, then I would fight, listen, you deserve so much more than to be in that cruel, harsh and outright aggressive pack, I would do anything."Said the Belgian malnois, his voice was confident as he spoke.
