Zorin saw all the mares and cocked his head. The paint stallion neighed, and his voice bounced oddly off the cave walls. He snorted in surprise and walked deeper inside to explore. The darkness surrounded him, and he seemed to be suffocating in it. He was entwined with it, unable to see light, as if he was being punished . . . Zorin whinnied for help. He'd never been in darkness so complete, so terrifyingly tangible.
