Vesper let herself run faster than Cody was. As she passed him, she flicked her red tail under his chin, grazing it with the tip. "Hurry up!" she barked in elation as she skirted the bare trees. The wind howled in her ears. She thought she heard a wolf howl, but she couldn't tell for sure. Leaves crunched beneath her paws.

Upon hearing Hailstorm's howl, Sauver gleefully abandoned his round and started galloping back towards the den, his legs a blur and his tail flying behind him. He slowed considerably as he entered the clearing and sat by his own den, shuddering as the frosted ground chilled the sores on his pads.

Storm heard the sound of a running wolf near to the camp and immediately detected it as Sauver, his one and only scout. He was glad his call had been answered so quickly, and hoped that Bronte would come soon. He watched as Sauver appeared and trotted happily to meet him, tail high and wagging, a light expression in his eyes.

Dusk flicked his ears towards Goldpaw as her stomach growled. "There is a rabbit in your den, eat it." He said, then shrugged. "I'll have to send Cody and Vesper across to bring something down."

Goldpaw blinked. Why would there be a rabbit in my den? she wondered. "Ok," she shrugged, padding out and to her den.

Dusk watched her leave with a small sigh, realizing he was alone...again. The handsome brute shivered against the wind. I wonder where Vesper and Cody are... He thought, trying to catch a scent from the howling wind. "Ugh..." He groaned, picking up his paws one by one in a freezing cold dance, trying to ignore his icy pads. "Goldpaw! When your done, I'd like to talk with you." Dusk called into Gold's den, flicking his ears back. "I'll be in my den."

Cody growled and ran up to speed with Vesper. but his eyes were light and friendly. He flicked his ears toward the howl but thatt didnt slow him down. The forest went by in a blur, every now and then there was a rabbit darting away or a bird scared to death by the rnning wolves. Cody laughed, he didnt even realize that they were in an open field by a human house until he heard a gunshot. Cody got down, thankfully there was longgrass to hide him. " Vesper?" He called out.

Bronte was right behind Sauver. Her eyes sparkled and she slowed down to catch her breath when she saw Strom. She huffed a bit before her breathing was normal agan, " Storm." She said and bowed her head a little. She blinked and smiled after lifting her head up again. " Anything wrong?"

Vesper lost herself in the wind as she glided over the ground. She didn't realize how recklessly she had been running until she saw the river ahead. Skidding to a stop the red wolf nearly fell in the water. She peered back into the trees, her blood rushing, trying to spot Cody. He was sure to have been right beside her... right? A crack split the air and her eyes widened. "Cody?" she cried, stumbling back the way she had come. Another gunshot, and then another one. "Cody! CODY!" Vesper was screaming now. Her mind was aware of the danger but she ran straight towards the gunshots.

Cody saw vesper running toward the gunshots. " Vesper!" He howled, but it was to late. The human pointed the gun and shot at Vesper. Cody snarled and ran to her, " Vesper." He whispered. The human pointed it again, Cody grabbed Vesper by he neck and pulled her out of the path of the bullet.

[growl]

Vesper yelped and let herself be dragged to the side. Her front left paw was on fire. She squirmed, trying to shake off the flame. "Stop the fire," she groaned, looking up at Cody. The pain worsened. "Stop the fire!"

Cody looked at her, there was nothing he could do. Cody threw her on his back and ran, he didnt slow down until he was far into the woods. He slowed down and set Vesper down. He saw the bullet in her paw and did his best to get it out.
