"Either we go our separate ways or we stay together," Vallerie said quietly, not quite meeting Aerie's eyes.
Fuir lay immobile on his back, watching the thick cloud cover passing overhead. Waving gold grass fringed the edge of his vision.
Sauver quickly darted away, grabbing the female goose and hauling her out of his den. He put her down, panting. Geese are so heavy... "Can we eat over here?" he called to Mekah.
Vesper scowled at the ground, plodding with a heavy air towards nowhere in particular. Orange eyes burning with a feverish light, she lifted her head. She had somehow exited camp and was standing in the same clearing she had been in earlier that day. Shafts of sunlight brushed past the resolutely white blanket that was the sky and pooled on the dry pine nettles covering the frosted ground. She threw herself on this ground and - glancing around to make sure no one was in the immediate area - she began to dance and jump around the clearing, scattering nettles that drifted silently back onto the ground. The tension that had been building inside of her all week trickled out so that when she finally stopped she was feeling lighter, giddy even.
Aerie looked away, "We can't let the pack die out like this.."
Mekah nodded and called out, "Sure." Mekah padded over to him and sitting down opposite.

Vallerie suddenly snapped her head up, her frosty eyes blazing. "Well we're the only ones left, aren't we?" she snarled, glaring at the sky. "Are you suggesting we somehow build up another pack? Because if you are, we'll have to pick carefully if we want wolves as good as those from Bandit Hollow. Like that dark-furred idiot won't be allowed in." She began pacing. It was almost possible to see the gears working in her mind.
Fuir lay immobile on his back, watching the creamy sky passing overhead. Waving gold grass fringed the edge of his vision. The scene reflected in his gray eyes looked like they had been filtered into a black and white movie.
Gazing around thoughtfully, Sauver took the first bite of the goose. It was getting late; the sun was starting to sink. The sky flared light orange and palest pink. Bands of clouds swirling around the sun reminded him vaguely of a flower he had seen once. "It's pretty, isn't it?" he said as he chewed, flicking his tail at the horizon.
Vesper wished she could spend some more time in the peaceful clearing, with her bed of pine needles and her blanket of clouds. But as the hour got late the shadows of the trees grew taller she knew she couldn't linger as delta of a pack surrounded by other packs. As she prepared to leave, she made a final decision and left a scent marker at the edge of the clearing before beginning the short journey back to the dens.

Dusk picked up his pace near the border, his ears erect and tail flowing behind the brute. His sharp eyes darted here and there, occasionally walking over to where a startled pheasant batted his face with it's wings before taking off.
