-------------------------------------------
Have you ever had a terrible feeling that followed you even to the dream world?
There in the treeline, a shadow bulged and throbbed. The sun set to her left, it sank quickly, sliced by a horizon miles away. Even in the cold snap of autumn, it was warm. The breeze washed her like the sun should have, yet the sun gave her no warmth here. She panted, her tail tucked anxiously beneath her, her haunches shrank her to the ground. Helpless, the shadow followed her everywhere. The snarls and echoes of battle and chase shot up her nerves, causing a very subtle shake in her joints. Eyes seemed to glisten just outside of the black hole before her, her eyes zeroed only on the breathing mass, and before she could jolt alert, fangs devoured her whole.
She must have been sleeping on her side, because whipping her head straight up gave her a frightful pain down into her shoulder blades. She'd let out a quick yelp and in her grog spotted Tide as her aggressor. Her chest and eyes swelled simultaneously. The fear was fleeting, though. The warm breeze was actually the still warmth at the den site. She pinned her ears and swung her head away, muttering a very quiet "Sorry" under her breath. As the waking world became more clear to her, she was soothed by the thought of once again being in a pack. It had been a year or so since she knew the comfort of having a family, of knowing a full belly.

==========================================
Kaija sat stoic, staring off into the distance. His eyes locked on for movement. Yet, there was nothing. Not even a breeze to shake the trees. He'd been so focused since being driven from his family's pack, he'd forgotten what it was to just sit and watch. He'd been so focused on his goal for so long, there were a lot of things he forgot. "On the wayside" He muttered.
He pointed his muzzle straight to the sky and let out a long drawn sign. Though wolves can't smile, you'd swear there was a hint of one there.
