Circus

The fox finished his meal and got up. He stretched and yawned. Circus noticed a cave which seemed like very good shelter. As he got closer, a strange scent radiated off of it. Something he had never scented before. Curious, the fox squeezed through a small hole in the back. The sight of the lions made him stop in his tracks. The was one of the rare times Circus was afraid. Trying to make as little noise as possible, he trying squeezing back through the gap, but his big head didn't fit! He turned slowly to try and discover another way out.

Agni

The she-cat woke up with a sigh. She currently resided in her favorite tree. She was on a sturdy branch when she usually slept. She got up and stretched. Agni gracefully jumped down form branch to branch until reaching the ground. She landed with a soft pad, her toes touching the cool grass. Looking around, she tried to locate any prey.

Haze snarled in his sleep, he dreamed of his older brother. In fact, his death being played over and over in his torturing nightmare. The same alligator who snapped his brother's neck over and over. His pained cries rang out once again as Haze felt his brother's hollowed eyes raked over his ruffled pelt. "Please stop!" Haze cried out collapsing to the ground. He was constantly twitching in his sleep and hissing from time to time. A strange scent drifted in his nose as he rolled onto his back, his eyelids twitched as he tried to wake up but failing.

She slipped into the cave with Haze, glancing around once more. It looked all right to her. Copying Haze, she used her claws to rake down the moss and make a nest for herself. Once satisfied, she settled down on the moss, curling into a ball and making herself comfy. "Good night." She yawned, then shut her eyes. She laid quietly in the moss. The only movements she made were her chest going up and down as she breathed and the occasional flick of her tail. After a few minutes, she drifted into a light sleep.

Her sleep was short-lived. Please stop! She heard Haze cry out, making her wake with a start. Thinking that they were being attacked she was up in an instant, whirling around to face Haze and fend off his attacker. However, no one was attacking Haze. He was twitching and hissing, but his eyes were closed. He must be having a nightmare. Concerned, she stepped towards Haze in order to wake him up, but the scent of a foreign animal entered her nose. She froze, ears flicking back at the sound of scrabbling behind her. She turned her head to look, seeing a fox standing in the back of the cave, watching the two big lions anxiously. Unsure of what to do about the intruder, she hurried to Haze's side. "Hey! Haze! Haze, wake up!" She said, jabbing at him with her paw, trying to snap him out of his nightmare. When that didn't work, she put her paw on his flank and tried to shake him awake.

He stayed silent as they cantered down the street, listening intently to Maserati. He, too, wished that he could be in an open area, a place where he could truly stretch his legs and run. "It's not easy being a horse in these areas." He sighs. "Too many predators and not enough to eat. I wish to live in an open place with few predators, but I don't even know where to start looking for a place like that."

Haze twitched as he felt a paw jabbing his side, he groaned and tried to swat the paw away but it kept jabbing him. It eventually woke him up from his nightmare and slowly drawn him back into the awake world. He narrowed his closed eyes as he tried to open them. Haze lazily opened one eye as he saw Iris and then he saw the concern on her face. He shifted as he tried to get away from her and fall back asleep when the unfamiliar scent lingered in the air, that scent snapped him awake. He scrabbled to his paws as he faced the intruder. The lion looked around and tried to locate where the scent came from before he detected a shape of a fox hovering at the back of the cave. Haze immediately snapped into attention as he snarled at the fox, "What are you doing here?" If it was planning to kill him and Iris during their sleep... No. It might be a trap. The male lion glared at the fox as he waited for the next move that it might make.

Circus

The male fox crouched low to the ground. He got into the most defensive position possible. "I was just looking for shelter...", he explained. He looked at the two lions. They didn't seem aggressive so he relaxed a bit. He flattened his ears.

She growled a bit when Haze tried falling back asleep, but fortunately he finally realized what was going on and was up in an instant, facing their intruder. She stood next to her friend, muscles tense and her amber eyes watching the fox carefully. The fox didn't seem to be lying, at least that's what Iris thought. He was obviously afraid, backed up in the corner with his ears flat against his head. He was so...small compared to them. "What should we do?" She said, looking at Haze uncertainly. Haze was the older of the two, and Iris trusted his judgement.

Haze stared at the fox, "I don't see any danger so why not let him stay." He kept glancing at the nervous fox, how his ears were flattened and his stance doesn't seem to show any aggression. The male lion shrugged, "It's just a fox, if we have to get into a fight, it wouldn't be that bad." He yawned as sleep was invading his mind once again, as he kept glancing down at his sleeping spot. Haze noticed that Iris didn't look like she slept very well before the fox came waking everyone up. "You should go back to sleep." He pointed out, "You look very tired. I'm sorry if I disturbed you, I just had a terrible nightmare of my brother."

Iris looked back to the fox, but kept an ear facing Haze as he spoke. She nodded in agreement. The fox didn't look like he was going to attack, if anything he just wanted to get out of here. He was tiny compared to the lions, he shouldn't be a threat. Relaxing, Iris sat down, curling her tail around her. "Mm...it's okay. I'm not that tired." She said, trying to stifle a yawn, but failing. In truth, Haze was right, she was tired. "Do you...have nightmares often?" She asked, looking to Haze.

Haze shot one last glance at the fox before sitting down next to Iris, "I barely had them before, but I have nightmares more often. I don't know what to do... I don't always want to wake you up if I keep yowling like that." He shook his head trying to forget the image of his brother's last breath. The lion sighed, perhaps he missed his brother too much.

She listened to Haze intently, a bit unsure of what to say to him. His nightmares must be getting bad if they woke up Iris, she's never been woken up by him in the past. "What are your nightmares about? Are they always about your brother?" She asked, then quickly added, "Uh, i-if you're okay with me asking of course! You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." She didn't want to pry, but was willing to listen if Haze wanted to talk.
