Tidal had been gone for well over a day. He had been scouting around the territory and had left his two mares hidden safely in a clearing. He had come across a small but growing pack of wolves and had been given the challenge of chasing them all out. Three adults and five puppies in total had been kicked out. They hadn't left without a fight however and Tidal now had several bites around his leg and a rather large one on his chest. Luckily Tidal was intelligent and had bathed in a river. They weren't infected and were healing quickly. None would leave scars.
Cantering through the forest now, he was paranoid and worried. He could only hope his herd was okay. It was small but he couldn't ask for any better. With another step, he broke into a gallop, all too eager to return to his herd. When the tree line finally broke away, he instantly spotted his family. The only thing separating them was the wide stream. It had only a soft current but the side he was on was very deep. Tidal let his ears flicker back and forth but he did not falter in his swift strides. Calculating how to get across, he realized he would have to leap and try to get past the deep side as quick as possible. A light layer of sweat on his coat, he shone brightly while his crimson and white fur rippled with muscle.
It must have looked like some scene from a movie. A huge, bulking stallion charging at a river. Tidal had to rely heavily on his genetics since he had never really jumped before and could only hope he had it in him. With three final leaping steps, he tucked his haunches in behind him and lifted off the ground, his flanks bulked with the muscle he had developed in the wild. His front legs tucked neatly under him, mirroring each other perfectly. Tidal pricked his ears and waited expectantly for the water to hit him. He could only pray to a greater being that the water wasn't cold. As his body prepared to land, he was surprised to see that he had jumped entirely over the deep end and had landed on the sandy and slightly rocky shallow end. The water splashed quite largely as he landed neatly in the water. Regaining his composure, he looked curiously back to see he had jumped over two meters of water. Tidal breathed out relief, half of his red fur darkened because of water, the other half still shining lightly.
Looking back to his family, he noticed Sebastian, Mew and Eevee had all come close to the river, looking like they were just going to go for a swim. They had sweat on their fur so he suspected they had played some sort of game. Lifting his head proudly, he whinnied to them, including Faith before prancing over and leaping up the small bank to be with them. Mew and Sebastian had grown magnificently and he gazed at them with adoration. "How fine you two have grown!" He gushed out praise to them.
