Abi's mind was blank. She didn't think of anything. Her legs were numb as was her entire body. She felt like she was floating on a cloud; perhaps from exhaustion, or maybe from lack of oxygen. Either way, Abi was just beginning to accept her death. It wasn't so bad. She felt guilty of dragging Punk down with her, but it would be okay in a few minutes...
Gradually the waves seemed to stop. Abi wasn't struggling anymore. She was eased into an emerald-green garden, filled with playful birds and the old neighborhood cats. Her siblings appeared from behind a bush, chasing each other and playfully attacking Abi. She happily ran around with them. She didn't even remember her life-or-death struggle from moments ago.
A human approached. Abi heard the steady footfalls. The ever-so-familiar scent of her master wafted in with a slight, peaceful breeze. Ears perked up and tongue lolling out of her mouth, the shepherd jumped with joy when he came into view, stepping out of the white mist that surrounded she and her sibling's garden.
Her master knelt down, scratching behind her ears and kissing her nose. Then she heard a clasp of her leesh attaching to her collar. When did that get there? Abi turned her head to see her siblings, but they were gone; vanished. The green garden was now a vast desert, stretching for miles and miles. Confused, she looked back to her master, only to find him in full military uniform.
"Let's go," he yelled to Abi and the troops that had suddenly appeared behind them. "What's going on?" Abi yelled as she ran with her master; but of course, they couldn't understand her. It seemed like they had run for miles before arriving at a strange, abandoned town, covered with the sand. A man ran through an alleyway, away from Abi and the rest.
"We have visual! Go, Abi! Now!" her master yelled, unhooking her leash. Without knowing even what she was doing here, the shepherd took off after him. She was quickly catching up on him, and a few seconds before she could tackle the stranger, he turned around, gun pointed straight at her head.
As the loud gunshot rang out, Abi cried out and her eyes shot open. She was back on the island. The dreaded, desolate island. Looking around, she found she was on the beach, ocean still raging, and Punk lying next to—
"The beach?!" Abi exclaimed, picking her head up and looking around. "Punk, you did it!" Abi forced herself to stand, every inch of her protesting. "My god Punk, we're alive!" she cried happily. "Wow, you saved us both! I thought I was gonna die! Well actually I think I did die, but... Not anymore!" Abi noticed Punk's poor shape. She wasn't feeling the best either but he must've took most of the heat. "We need to get to a safe place to rest, somewhere out of this rain and away from the ocean... Before we both freeze!"
