My bad ya'll it's hard to see whose interacting with Cosette there's so many horses lmao

☀C o s e t t e☀ 2yrs, tags; alone, Zinnia, Sphinx

Cosette noticed the young mare who now noticed her standing closer to the trees, her ears twitched for a mere second as a insect flew near her ear, moving them closer to the mare as she spoke, her body language looked welcoming enough. Cosette whinnied in response towards the question "Just a bit" she replied shortly. As the two mares stood there communicating with each other, Cosette had noticed the other mares body tense up, looking the direction she was looking, she noticed a young stallion had now started approaching the two. The mare moving closer to her, she didn't mind though, and quiet understood why, the young mare looked to the stallion as he spoke "I did too myself not too long ago, the water is refreshing" Cosette didn't get a dangerous feeling off the stallion and quiet liked him.

(No worries! And I'll post again for Zinnia once Sphinx responds c:)

Hvitur | 11 years | Lone Stallion | Tags: Dana

“It is, isn’t it? I have yet to meet anyone who shared it,” Hvitur bobbed in his head in agreement. His eyes remained on the mare the entire time as they spoke, studying her features. She was older, seemingly older than him even, but that was a good thing. The herd he planned on building would need a reliable lead mare, one who was experienced and knew the island well. Perhaps she would be a good fit for the position, that is if she was interested.

“This may be forward of me, but would you be interested in joining me?” he asked. “I lost my old herd late last year, and wish to start another. Seeing as you don’t have a herd either, I would love to have you join me.”

    Ezekiel | 2 years | Bachelor | Tags: Pharao

Ezekiel nodded in agreement. Band stallions had to be tough to protect their herds, and their bodies showed it. Well-defined muscles and bulk, along with scars from battling both stallions and predators. He knew that he would not stand a chance against them, and was not in the mood for a beating.

Even the other bachelors on the island were intimidating, with their confident demeanors and seeming little regard for getting into trouble. There was a small twinge of jealousy, that these other stallions had the courage to act to get what they wanted while Ezekiel found himself stuck.

“How do you...talk to mares?” he asked hesitantly, his eyes going to the other young bachelor. Like most young stallions, he had dreamed of being a band stallion once he was older. He didn’t have the strength or experience to hold a mare, but that didn’t mean he was entirely unwilling to try.

And yet he found it difficult to do so, not only intimidated by the other stallions that roamed all over the island but his lack of knowledge left him stumped on how to even begin. His father hadn’t taught him anything about creating or leading a herd, hadn’t spoken to him much in general in his two years of life. His father had been more of a background presence, protecting the herd but interacting little with his children. What little Ezekiel did know about how herds worked was purely from his own observations and what his mother taught him, and the lack of proper guidance made it difficult for him to gather the courage to act on his own.

Celeste | 5 years | Lone Mare | Tags: Voodoo, Poltergeist

Celeste’s heart swelled. It had been awhile since she had felt like this, to have a companion, even if she wasn’t sure if this was simply a fleeting moment or something more. Oh, how she had missed spring. No longer did she have to huddle for warmth or worry if she could find enough forage for the day. Now she could stretch her legs and go. Do whatever she wished with little care in the world. It wouldn’t last forever of course, but she wanted to relish what she could.

The two mares galloping side-by-side were a glorious sight. Their coats gleamed, the muscles underneath highlighted by the light of the sun. They were carried forth by a spirit that only wild horses knew.

Another horse caught Celeste's attention, a lone mare such as them, with a dark head and legs and roaned out coat. Celeste would not have even noticed if the mare’s whinny hadn’t happened to catch her ears. Her nostrils flaring for breath, Celeste allowed her pace to slow slightly. She lifted her head and neighed loudly to the roan mare in a friendly greeting.

Persephone | 9 years | Lone Mare | Tags: Dann

“It’s nice to meet you, Dann,” Persephone greeted, but her smile fell when the stallion continued. She listened intently and dipped her head slightly. To have one’s entire herd ripped from them in a single night...she could hardly imagine how awful that must have been. “I’m sorry that you lost your herd. That must be difficult, and I hope that you will be able to find them again.”

Brownie- mare- 8 y- 15.2 hands- lone mare- foals: may have had one- Tags: Cookie, Corpse and Morgue, Scylla and Charybdis

The all brown older mare watched the two stallions as both stopped to look at her and her sister. Though she saw the two other mares too...She shook her head back and forth a couple times. She then made a happy little sound. The older stallion focused his attentions all on her and her sister at the moment. She watched the other head to the other mares. She shook her head back and forth a couple times. She then whickered happily as the older stallion headed over. She noticed her sister seemed disappointed. It seemed her sister liked that younger stallion a bit more. Ignoring this, she focused fully on the stallion approaching. Nostrils flared, she took in a bit of his scent as he came over. He wasn't too old, but he wasn't young either. Definitely older than both her and her sister, though by how much she couldn't say. She made another happy sound. She made it towards the stallion this time. She said "Hello handsome," and made a little sound of amusement. She couldn't laugh, of course, but she made an equine sound. She glanced to her sister after a moment, finally paying her some mind. "Ah, yes, we are definitely angels. I think that one likes your brother more, though." She really outed her sister there, and heard the sound of slight annoyance. "Do you...two work together, do you both get the mares? Or is it just you?" she then asked the stallion, not that she minded either way.

Cookie- mare- 6 y- 15.2 hands- lone mare- no foals yet- Tags: Brownie, Corpse and Morgue, Scylla and Charybdis

The all brown younger mare hadn't been the one calling out. Not that other horses would really probably realize that. She watched the two stallions watching them, and two other mares. The two stallions then seemed to communicate. She made a small sound as she watched the younger one go off. She felt disappointment as she saw him going elsewhere. He looked to be closer in age to her. He was closer in age to her than his other brother. Shaking her head, she looked to her sister a moment. She then looked over as the older stallion let out a noise of greeting. She snorted, shaking her head again, then looking away. Her sister seemed to be ignoring her now, for the moment. She wanted to be a bit annoyed about that, but she couldn't. What she could be annoyed about was when her sister outed her. She made a noise of annoyance, then looked at the stallion finally. "What's your name, anyway?" she aske,d finally speaking.

Dana- mare- 16 y- 16.1 hands- lone mare- Dann and younger daughter Juni- Tags: Hvitur

The buckskin mare nodded her head up and down a couple times. "Well...I haven't met many horses with my name either. Maybe mine is pretty unique as well," she said to him. She made a happy seeming sort of sound as she said these words. "My son...he's ten now, and I named Dann with two D's. I wanted him to have a unique name," she said. She then shook her head a couple times. Before she moved her ears to the sides a bit as he continued to speak to her. She then made another happy sound. "Of course, I'd love to be one of your new herd members."

Dann- stallion- 10 y- 16.2 hands- lone stallion- has had two foals- Tags: Persephone

The stallion made a happy seeming sort of sound as she said it was nice to meet him. He solemnly nodded his head up and down again. "Yes...I wish I could find them again, but it's unlikely. My two foals are also grown up by now, four or five years of age, probably with families of their own. I'd like to build a new herd, though. Would you... maybe like to be my first mare?" he asked. That may seem a bit forward of him. However, she was beautiful, and kind, and he wanted to keep her at his side.

Jessaa- mare- 6 y- 16 hands- lone mare- Kael and wants more- Tags: Dee, Wraith and Gleam

The stripy marked red mare said "Oh, sorry. Do you not refer to mares as the mates of a stallion?" she asked, as she sensed confusion. "It was just us two back then, so I'm used to calling him my former mate. I'm sorry if that confused you at all." She shook her head, feeling bad she'd potentially confused her new stallion. That's what he was, now. He clearly wanted her, and she was willing to be with him. Never mind the fact his coat reminded her of those spots. He wasn't a spotted horse, just a darkly colored one. She shook those thoughts of Leopard away, quite quick like. She then nodded her head up and down a couple times. "Oh, yes, it could be tough...but we did all manage to survive, and I am glad too."

She watched as his ears went back in concern, then, as she'd spoken of her son. She wondered if he'd met horses like that. Shaking the thoughts away, again, she just thought of her son. Not how he was different, not those stupid humans...just her son. Then Dee was nudging her and placing his head on her. She said "It's a please to meet you, as well." She made a little sound as he moved his muzzle. She didn't, however, kick out at him or anything, instead allowing him. (Fade) (unfade)

Afterward, he was grooming her, and she moved around a little so he'd get bits of hair that were loose. She made happy little sounds. "That feels so nice...thank you for the help. Oh...I'm sure he'd like being allowed to visit, or even stay with us permanently." She moved her head up and down a few times. "He definitely won't...I don't think he has an interest in mares," she said. She shook her head a couple times, then. She looked to her son, and the filly he seemed to speak with. "Companion...I guess, but I'd rather call that a friend." She stopped speaking as she heard a voice of fear squealing out. She looked around in alarm, expecting horses to be fighting. There were none, so she looked to Dee, then followed him.

As they got close enough, she too saw the same chestnut filly he was. The both of them looked to the paint mare at the same time, as well. She made a low sound of worry, seeing no other mare. This one didn't seem to be the mother. She squealed a bot when Dee bumped her, but she moved back as well. She then continued to look at the filly. "Yes, we...won't hurt you, little one, but it's safer if we stay, or you at least let that mare stay. What are your names?" she then asked, both the filly and mare.

Leopard- stallion- 8 y- 16 hands- lone stallion or bachelor- Kael, wants more- Tags: Memory

The black spotted white stallion didn't stop her or step back from her. Why would he do such a rude thing to such a pretty mare? He allowed her to take in his scent, while he also did the same. She had the gentle, soft smell of a mare. He could tell she'd been alone, as she'd said she'd been. He made a small sound of approval at this, then nosed gently at her a bit. "No need to be scared anymore," he muttered. He then shook his head a couple times as he did so. "I don't know if you'd actually count that as overprotective...The whole still-watching him thing, even though he's two now. She was much more cautious and protective when he was returned to us, though. Anyway, I'm sure he's doing fine, I saw him wandering around."

He thought on that group he'd seen forming. "I just hope that group of stallions and mares doesn't trample him, or anything...They were being pretty wild and crazy, and the one was really showing off." He snorted and shook his head again. He then seemed to notice a shift in her, as though she were thinking of something. "Are you okay?" he asked. "I'm sorry, did you...have a foal? Me calling Jessaa overprotective may have been insensitive, I'm sorry if that upset you..." he said. He'd realized this mare could have had a foal. He didn't see one with her now, but that didn't mean she'd never had one. He then nodded and said "It's nice to meet you, too." He then bumped at her hip a bit, as if wondering...something.

(I need to be careful what I post now...Hopefully you can understand what he's doing here)

Kael- gelding- 2 y- 16 hands- loner- homoromantic (I think the rules said its allowed for geldings, but if not then he is completely aromantic, and he's asexual anyway)- will adopt if allowed- Tags: Erebos

The bay blanket Appaloosa glanced to where the older mare was, a moment. He then turned his attention back to the filly. She would still be considered a filly until she actually had a foal. Shaking his head, shaking that thought away, he snorted. He then quickly nodded to the other horse. He said "It means slender, I think, but it's also a warrior's name. That's what my mom, Jessaa, told me anyway. Oh, no, we didn't come from that group...and I've been on my own for a bit now, though I think my mom's been watching over me."

A Flowery Beauty/ Laurel- mare- 4 y- 14 hands- lone mare- no foals yet- Tags: Hades

The red mare took in the scent of the red bay stallion as he stood there. He seemed kind of stunned she'd actually approached. She made an inquisitive sort of sound, then shook her head. She flared her nostrils a moment, then stopped doing that. She'd approached precisely because he was younger. He was around her age, that made her want to approach him. She didn't have too much experience herself, at only four. She also had had no foals yet. She should have probably had at least one, but she'd never had one yet. She hoped maybe this stallion would want foals with her. She noticed how he puffed out his chest as she approached him. She said 'Hello...handsome, what's your name?" and reached her own muzzle out.

Ell- mare- 18 y- 15.2 hands- lone mare- had some foals- Tags: Tornado

The grayed out mare moved her head up and down a couple times. "Well, it's not just those two, there's that younger stallion there too. It looks like those two actually moved away from the group. There's other stallions in there, though. Also...stallions usually don't agree with each other. They wouldn't be civil enough to have a conversation about wanting certain mares." She shook her head a couple times. "No, I don't have anyone anymore, though my former mate should be out here somewhere."

Codi- stallion- 20 y- 15.3 hands- lone stallion- had some foals- Tags: Hurricane and Twister

The grayed out stallion lifted his head up and down a couple times. "Well, half sisters are still sisters, since you share a parent. I did...have only one mare ever, which probably seems strange. We've had four to six foals, maybe more. It's easy to lose count when you get as old as I am." He then made an amused sound at Twister, saying "Well...I'm twenty already." He then looked towards the group again. "I wouldn't worry about them, most of them seem young and inexperienced...which means they'd be the ones losing."

Bouncanier - lone stallion - 6 years - Tags: open

He got to the large group of many horses, gathering around there. He blinked in amusement as he had not seen this many stallions and lone mares in the same place too often. There was even a mare with a young foal there, which stayed away from others, maybe that was for the best, who knows how aggressive those stallions may get to have this many mares near them.

Madeira - lone mare - 3½ years - heat: 0 - tags: Eclipse
She walked for a while more, following the faint, yet growing scents of other horses. She was alone so much that she kind of missed being around the other horses, and the protection they gave her. Though the scent of stallions made her a little unsure, she was still pretty young and hoped they were not too pushy. She noticed another mare not so far away and walked to her "Oh good morning, are you going to the groups there too?" she asked her then shook her head "Oh sorry I am Madeira, who are you?" she asked her rather gently, but pretty shyly.

Ouroboros - lone mare - 5 years - heat: 2 - Tags: Erebos, Kael, open
She eyed the leopard horse there for a while, he looked interesting stallion, but then again she felt like there was something going around there, which made her turn her gaze elsewhere. She was not sure if doing anything like that to a large group like this one was a good decision as it could start a war between all the stallions. Her ears perked to the Kael once again "Well this is not a safe ground for a young bachelor than you are, those stallions way even try to kill you if you sneak too close" she spoke up to her kind of cold tune.

Erebos - lone mare - 2 years - heat: 1 - Tags: Ouroboros, Kael
She shook her head in surprise "A warrior name, a horse warriors? Oh cool...never hear of those" she spoke up. Her ears perked to her mother for a moment "Oh don't mind her, she is kind of a grumpy one" she laughed with a shake of her head. She looked at the group there in the distance "So your mother indeed is somewhere there now, I guess it dosne't really feels nice to see your mother and can go even say hi, without being likely watched wrong by those stallions or other mares too...oh wait, you were...ah sorry nothing" she said to him embarrassed.

Pharao - Bachelor - 3 years - Tags: Ezekiel
He looked at the other bachelor student and the way he was acting when he looked at the stallions in the group. He then sook his head when he asked him a question "Well, how could I know, maybe it's more like you need to wait for them to come to you, like on those stallions, I noticed that those mares did walk to them instead than other way around..." he spoke up to him. He flicked his tail a little bit "I think it's the age, the body, and the showing aggression to protect is the one who charms the ladies, I don't think we skinny bachelors have much of a chance in here" he spoke up with another sight. His eyes looked toward the few younger-looking mares there "You could try with the younger mares instead" he said to him.

Sphinx - Bachelor - 3 years - Tags: Cosette, Zinnia
He looked to the two mares the one being rather nervous around him, but the other didn't seem to be so nervous. This could be his chance to steal those loner mares, but then again he felt like if he did he could likely lose them to the older lone stallions, who could see this as a good opportunity. He nodded to the Cosette "That's good fresh water is all that I needed, the thing here is going...out of control" he spoke up as he walked a few steps to the water and took a gulp. He looked to them once again "Who are you two? I've not seen you before, I am Sphinx" he spoke up to them.

Hurricane - lone mare - 16 years - heat: 2 - Tags: Twister, Codi
She looked up at him "One mare, well that's not so strange, but pretty risky to protect foals with only two horses, as long you didn't let those foals stay around when they grew up, but likely they didn't stay around, that's horses nature to look for an adventure and see other horses, instead than stay on family" she said to him. She shook her head "I've had few foals in my life too, though that is being rather silent for the last year when my youngest left to do his own things" she responded with sight.

Twister - lone mare - 13 years - heat: 2 - Tags: Hurricane, Codi
She looked at them both and then sighed, her eyes narrowed a little bit when the stallion mentioned being more powerful than the much younger stallions there, because of his old age. She was not so sure about that, a young horse is weaker than an older horse, but the much older horse is weakened during the time than medium old stallion may bet the older one. Not so young, yet not so old stallions are the strongest ones. She shook her head "I had only one foal...I am not so lucky with nice stallions to be found" she said her eyes looking elsewhere.

Tornado - lone gelding - 16 years - Tags: Ell
He looked at her "A former mate? Why are you not with the stallion at the very moment? A rightful stallion could try to keep their mares for more than just one night...So what happened?" he questioned the mare. He found the thing weird, but then again what does a gelding like he know about stallions' way of doing things? Thought if the stallion was still there then could he need to be alert, even as a gelding some of the stallions didn't tolerate them even if they were not a threat to them.

in death's grip
corpse || stallion || eleven || herd: n/a || tags: morgue, cookie, brownie || location: island center

The dappled stallion stood before the mares, poised, calm, gaze entirely fixated on Brownie; the one bold enough to speak directly to him, the one who dared to answer his call in the first place. She'd already impressed him by response alone. Her body language was everything to him-- flirty, receptive, and a little cutthroat, it seemed. That one likes your brother more... The words resonated with him, echoing in his head as he nodded slowly, shooting a sideways glare towards Cookie, before turning his full attention back to the mare before him. So long as he could ensnare one of them in his trap, the rest would be a breeze. It didn't matter if the other thought she was allowed to have a preference, or had a say in the matter, he would allow his favorite of the two to make all the necessary decisions. And of course, Brownie had fully piqued his interest. "My dear, don't worry your pretty little head about him. I can assure you, my brother couldn't measure up--" Corpse pauses to chuckle, before taking a step closer to the pretty mare before him, raising his muzzle to her ear. "After meeting me, you wouldn't think to look twice in his direction. And if your partner in crime can't see that herself, I'm sure you're more than capable of talking some sense into her, no?" With that, the stallion offers Brownie a flirtatious nip on the shoulder, before shooting her a wink and trotting off to the side. He takes this opportunity to flaunt his muscular build, shiny coat rippling with every movement he made. Corpse circled the two once, twice, carefully looking them over with each pass, before stopping abruptly before his favorite again. "My name is Corpse, by the way. I do apologize for not opening with that, but I'm sure you understand... not everyone finds it to be so endearing." The stallion murmurs with a shrug, before sighing. "Might I ask how I may address the two of you?"

graveyard shift
morgue || stallion || eight || herd: n/a || tags: corpse, scylla, charybdis || location: island center

While Morgue probably wouldn't win any points in the "Prince Charming" department, he was determined to at least make some type of impression with the two ladies. Didn't particularly matter if it were good or bad, considering he was supposed to be acting as some sort of placeholder for his brother in the meantime. The idea made him cringe internally, but he forced a grin and bumped muzzles ever so tenderly with the first mare, the one of fewer words and apparently less interested in the interaction than he seemed to be. Just as soon as they'd exchanged breaths, however, Scylla had darted off in favor of an extra savory patch of grass. He couldn't blame her, truly, Morgue knew he wasn't exactly the strong picture-perfect stallion that mares dreamed of from a young age. Handsome yes, but in terms of build and stature? He missed the mark for most. This fact didn't seem to phase the partner to the first mare, as she seemed all too eager to touch him, inspect him like he were on display for her critqiue-- and by all means, he didn't mind it. The blood bay stood stark still, minus his gaze which followed Chary as she made her way around his figure, muscles twitching inadvertently as she nosed him. As much as he wanted to revel in her touch and find some enjoyment in it, he knew he'd have to maintain composure if he truly wanted to stall on Corpse's behalf.

"Charybdis and Scylla, hmm? Seems rather fitting..." The words were mumbled, mostly to himself, before he proceeded, "I'm still rather new to uh, all of this if that's what you're asking. Eight years old versus that meathead's eleven." He absentmindedly referred to Corpse, knowing that his big idiot of a brother was probably droning on and on with his little charade to the other two mares. "But uh, no. No herd between us. We travel together for safety, mostly. Companionship isn't possible when the companions barely get along with one another." Morgue chuckles lowly, before turning his head to meet Chary's gaze, her tail having swept over his body as he spoke. And he offered a knowing grin in her direction, his gaze trailing over her lithe body. "Which begs the question, what's your deal? Sisters, best friends, lady lovers?" He teases lightly, their scents telling him all he needed to know. "Whatever this dynamic is, I'm just shocked the two of you aren't being hounded and fought over tooth and nail. Unless Scylla there managed to scare all those youngsters off, of course." Morgue chuckles again, now maneuvering to sidle up to Charybdis, his hip gently brushing against hers. Hell, he already reeked of her scent, why not douse himself in it further?

six feet under
hades || stallion || three || herd: n/a || tags: laurel || location: island center

He nickered lowly, before bumping his own velvety muzzle to her own. This singular touch had his heart swooning, his blood pumping with excitement. Forcing himself to think with his brain, the stallion reeled himself in, and stepped back after exchanging scents with the mare. "You can call me Hades, my dear." The golden stallion offers a shallow bow of his head, wanting to prove himself sincere and fully invested in their banter. "And what is your name?" Hades had to bite his tongue to avoid spewing out word vomit and potentially spooking her off. He knew that his bachelor friends weren't too far off, and he didn't want to make a fool of himself so early in the season. Of course, this didn't stop him from stepping closer to the pretty chestnut and bumping shoulders with her, wanting to feel her pulse against his own. And oh, he relished in the sensation. He closed his eyes tight, silently praying this moment would last a lifetime.

ghost of you
wraith || mare || ten || herd: n/a || tags: gleam || location: island center

The gray mare kept some distance between herself and the wee foal, not wanting to risk Gleam darting off into danger. After the filly's outburst, Wraith smiled knowingly, and clacked her teeth together to show she meant no harm. To further prove this, the mare folded her knees and plopped onto the grassy floor, making herself appear smaller in hopes to calm the distrustful foal. "Oh yes, I'm certain you could beat me up. Don't worry about that, though, I'll stay right over here." The mare spoke calmly and softly, her warm brown eyes maintaining contact with Gleam's. "My name is Wraith, by the way. Is it okay if I ask what your name is?" Wraith could tell from the filly's flattened ears and standoffish demeanor that she was frightened, and hoped she could find some commonality with the foal.

voices in my head
poltergeist || mare || five || herd: n/a || tags: eclipse, celeste [mentions madeira, voodoo]|| location: island center

Poltergeist was on edge, tossing her head up in nervous excitement when the first horse approached. Another mare, deep brown in color, almost black. She had kind eyes and spoke gently, but the blue roan's stance remained tense. Poltergeist had always been an easily overwhelmed mare, her flight response always wanting to kick into overdrive. But she forced herself to respond, extending her muzzle in greeting with gentle huffs through her nostrils. "Hi, uh. Yeah, it's definitely hectic this spring." Her head was on a swivel as she turned towards the sound of thundering hooves, and two more horses came into view. A pretty dappled mare and a sleek bay running side by side. The blue roan nickered low in greeting to the pair, but remained in place beside Eclipse. She turned her attention back to her newfound companion, forcing a small smile, "My apologies for being so on edge. It was a long winter and I haven't seen a friendly face in many months... my name is Poltergeist, by the way."

[i waited a day or almost a day and no one else has posted aside from you two. So I'm just going to post again

Also, juice, we tagged Gleam and Wraith with Dee and Jessaa]

Brownie- mare- 8 y- 15.2 hands- lone mare- foals: may have had one- Tags: Cookie, Corpse and Morgue, Scylla and Charybdis

The all brown older mare sighed as she looked at the older of the two stallions. "Oh, I for sure could deal with her. I'd rather not have it turn into a fight, though...She will fight if she doesn't like something, just to let you know. Also...what if your brother wants some of us mares?" she asked, in all seriousness. "I'd of course rather stay with you. If he decides he wants some of us, though, would it become a fight? Would you...be able to fight your own brother?" she asked him. She'd noticed his younger brother hadn't seemed all too happy being sent off. Maybe the two didn't actually get along. She wondered why they traveled together, then. Shaking her head, she eyed her sister a moment. "Cookie is also faster than me...which I find ridiculous. The fact we have the same parents but she's faster than me...but whatever. If she ran away, I'm not sure we could catch her. I don't know, though, I just met you, so...maybe your a fast runner." She'd jerked a bit when he'd put his muzzle by her ear. It hadn't been nerves or disgust, though. It was more like a thrill had gone through her. Then she'd told him all those things about whether she'd be able to deal with Cookie. She'd also asked about his brother. About if it could turn into a fight, whether he'd really fight him. She had no doubts he probably would, given the way Morgue had acted. Well, she couldn't say for sure. Corpse seemed like he was wanting all the mares, though. As he was saying she'd be able to deal with her sister, likely. She squealed when he nipped her, but didn't move. She didn't kick at him or anything, either. She made another delighted sound, as he showed off. She then looked to her sister, snorting as she saw... She nipped at the younger mare, and was rewarded by a squeal and a well aimed hoof. She quickly dodged, and that was sarcasm...That hadn't been a reward at all. She made a sound of irritation at her younger sister, then looked to Corpse. She said "My name is Brownie, and she's....Cookie." Maybe she should just let Cookie go to the other stallion...as she didn't want Corpse getting hurt by her.

Well, he was a stallion, but getting kicked was no fun for anyone.

If Cookie really didn't like him, she'd kick him and refuse him, and Brownie didn't want him hurt.

The all brown younger mare kept her eyes purposely off the other two, now. Her ears pinned back as her sister just kept talking...She watched the stallion with the other two mares. She heard the arrogance, or seemingly so, of Corpse. She wondered why his brother didn't just try and fight him. When Brownie asked about a potential fight, Cookie nodded to herself. She continued to look at the mares and stallion. He was handsome, but she wondered if he thought he wasn't. Maybe his brother made him feel bad...Maybe Corpse convinced mares he was so great, and his brother wasn't. She didn't even know the name of his brother. Since his brother was talking to the other two mares. No doubt talking them up for Corpse's benefit...She snorted at this fact, and rolled her eyes over it. She squealed and kicked at her sister when nipped at. She heard her sister making a noise of irritation, and wondered how one stallion could cause them to now be annoyed with each other...

The bay blanket Appaloosa snorted at the mare, as she stood nearby. "Why would I try and sneak in there, when they're all acting like fools? Besides, I have no interest in mares...A stallion wouldn't attack a gelding anyway, we aren't any threat...They wouldn't have done that at a stable, anyway...I heard those...humans talking about it, about the horses they had at stables. They sounded like they wanted to keep me, take me to one. They didn't though, luckily, they sent me back here." He then looked to Erebos again. "No, just a warrior in general, but we are horses so...I guess. She must have heard it from some human. I mean...they come around here once in awhile, and humans like to talk." He shook his head at this fact. He then nodded and said "Yeah...but maybe she found a nice stallion. Maybe I would be able to go visit her there. I can only hope she found a nice stallion, that may come over here and tell me I'm allowed to visit."

A Flowery Beauty/ Laurel- mare- 4 y- 14 hands- lone mare- no foals yet- Tags: Hades

The red mare twitched her ears a couple times, then made them stay still. She flicked her tail back and forth. She seemed to sense or see the immediate effect she had over this stallion. That felt good, as, until now, she'd never had a stallion. At two, she'd still been in her father's herd. At three, she'd finally left that herd, and met a few stallions. For some reason, they hadn't seemed interested in her...She'd found it a little strange, given her own parents had said they'd met young. She focused back on the golden stallion. "It's nice to meet you, then, Hades. My name? My name is A Flowery Beauty, I don't know why my parents gave such a long name. They just referred to me as Laurel, anyway, so you may call me Laurel." She flared her nostrils a small moment. She then blinked as he bumped shoulders with her. She made a happy little contented sort of sound, then. She stood there shoulder to shoulder with him, and her eyes soon began to close.

Ell- mare- 18 y- 15.2 hands- lone mare- had some foals- Tags: Tornado

The grayed out mare made an amused sound as she looked at him. "We'd been together for fourteen or fifteen years, not just one night. He was great, but after a time even we can want something different. Just as I've heard humans sometimes do. Not that we are humans..." she snorted. "I didn't want a mate anymore, now I'm just looking for friends. Maybe like a traveling companion or something. What I want now is friends, a herd of friends if possible, but it doesn't have to be a whole herd."

Codi- stallion- 20 y- 15.3 hands- lone stallion- had some foals- Tags: Hurricane and Twister

The grayed out stallion nodded and said "I guess. We only had one foal at a time, though, and they were like two or three years apart. My daughters stuck around until they were three or four, so we had them to help. Some of them were older than the others, of course. We had a colt, then a filly, then another filly, then another colt. Then the last two were a filly then another colt. Oh, a son...he must be a very handsome stallion now." He made a little sound as he said this. He then looked to Twister, and said "I'm sorry to hear that...Well, if you wanted to have more than one. Which most mares do want to have more than one foal. I know not every mare is the same, though."

Eclipse nods, “it’s no worry. I understand. All forgiven” she smiles to the roan mare. She then smiles to the other who approached. “Hello. No, I am not. It’s just pure chaos over there and I don’t wish to add to it” she explains. “I am Eclipse, nice to meet you both” she says nodding her head to each in turn.

She was overwhelmed, and fear overcame her. She backed up a few more steps. She thought about what the stallion said. “It can…” she replies, looking from each of the three horses. “Do-do you all know each other.

(sorry for the wait friends nano has been kicking my ass and I fell sick    Hopefully there won't be too many mistakes here and there but I didn't want to keep you guys waiting too long)
Scylla
11 years•Lone mare• Sultry, bored• tagged: Corpse, Morgue, Charybdis, Brownie, Cookie• Heat stage 0

It was curious, listening to the other talk. For one thing, it seemed like they travelled together, but at the same time, they weren't the most companionable of partners. Which only begged the question-why not split off, then? Morgue said it was for safety, but Scylla couldn't imagine anything seriously threatening the two of them enough for them to need to stick together, not when younger bachelors would already be out on their own.

Following someone else's lead, then? Deciding that it was all more interesting than she had seen before, Scylla shifted forward right as Chary lifted Morgue's head, arching her head just right so her eyes caught Morgue's as she gracefully danced across the grass to him. He smelled a little more personable now that she could scent Chary on him, and she gently came on his other side, nosing at his poll curiously, wondering how the other stallion would react to what seemed to be his younger brother's overwhelming success. "Careful what you say, Morgue," She warned lowly, though anyone who knew her would know she was joking. "Lest you speak your worry into existence."

Charybdis
11 years• Lone mare• Excitable, invigorated • tagged: Corpse, Morgue, Scylla, Brownie, Cookie•heat stage 1

Oh, he was a delight! The stallion made an effort to stand still under the impromptu inspection, but Chary could see his interest in the way his gaze followed her, his muscles twitching under her touch, as if eagerly trying to reach for her. As he pondered over their names, Chary let out an amused laugh. "It does, doesn't it? It's like our mother took a look at us and knew we'd be trouble."

Eight was pretty experienced, though his brother was older, so comparatively, Chary could kind of understand how he would call himself rather new. Not for the first time, Chary wondered how it would be if her and her sister were different ages, how the dynamic would have shifted. It was always an interesting thing to play with.

He spoke of safety, of squabbling between each other, and Chary simply let out a chuckle as she nosed at his poll curiously, catching a part of his forelock between her teeth and tugging ever so gently, drawing his head back toward her from where it had looked to his brother, mostly to refer to him. "Safety? What could possibly endanger a stallion as beautiful and hunky as you?" As she said so, she met his eyes, openly drinking in his looks and letting him see her appreciation, only belatedly realising that she was beginning to emanate a very slight heat scent. It was a thought that would send most mares into a bit of a panic, or at least have to tone down their behaviour, noting that they would have to calm down a little or risk a stallion getting the wrong idea. However, Chary only got louder, playing with the new weapon in her arsenal as she flicked her tail about her, letting the scent escape. After all, if anything got too bad, she would fight her way out of it the way she usually would. "If we are now at a time where two of you strong stallions have to come together, it must be a perilous time for us indeed." At her words, Chary shot a look at her sister, who simply returned an even gaze and a smile.

But there were more interesting things on the horizon, like the way his gaze ate her up too, and Chary let out an appreciative hum, her tail raising as she arched her neck, showing off her topline, the way her coat gleamed. A good show always required an attentive audience, after all, and being gifted with one only made Chary more open to show her stuff.

"We're sisters, as you probably already could tell. The two of you are brothers, I assume?"He shifted up next to her, and Chary let out an encouraging neigh, nosing his chest gently before giving it a small nip playfully. "If someone is scared of a few thorns, they shouldn't be allowed to scent the roses, don't you think?"

Slotting her head under his, Chary lifted her head up roughly, raising his own head in turn to look up, only to pause in slight surprise but also amusement as Scylla shifted closer. "Just wait till spring deepens, and we don coats of red. When you're always surrounded, it's a nice feeling to want to enjoy the silence every now and then." At her sister's words, Chary laughed, before nodding in agreement. "We wouldn't want to see both your coats marred so early in the season." Chary said, a blatant lie. Though, telling a stallion you'd like to watch him in a fight sometimes was encouraging, she had the idea that would only make this one shrink away a little.

Winter’s Détente (Dee)
8 years• Herd stallion: Jessaa• Friendly, careful, curious• tagged: Jessaa, Wraith, Gleam

"It is not something I am used to, but we all have different names for things where we come from. That is a part of the joy of meeting someone new." Dee replied. At her agreement, he nuzzled her gently, also glad that she had survived, that they'd managed to then meet in the spring and start something anew.

(Fade)

As she shifted around, Dee followed her directions, shifting to the spots that itched the most and enjoying the other's happiness. At the end of the day, that was what he found pleasure in, being able to bond and protect those around him, and he would do anything to ensure that Jessaa stayed safe and happy now that she was under him. Her happiness about Kael being allowed to visit only eased his heart more, Dee sure that he'd made the right decision now.

When they saw the filly, Jessaa had been just as concerned, and though Dee only really took note of this in the back of his mind, most of him focused on the filly at present, he couldn't help the way his heart warmed ever so slightly. Yes indeed, Jessaa was a beautiful mare to start a herd with, a good foundation to build around, and one that now would carry his foal. She squealed a little in surprise when he'd bumped into her, but caught on and shifted back, speaking like he did, and he nuzzled her gently with a soft murmur.

The paint mare hadn't seemed to notice the both of them, but her actions were perfectly in sync with their own, the older mare handling the outburst of the little one with aplomb, and Dee couldn't help peering curiously even as he pretended not to look so that the foal wouldn't be too pressured. It seemed like the other had plenty of experience and help in the older mare, even if the other didn't seem to be her mother (Dee had an idea that was a status that would change quickly if the paint mare had anything to do about it, however.)

With how experienced the paint mare was being, the two of their presences might overwhelm more than help the foal, and as such, Dee made eye contact with Wraith and took another step back reassuringly, instead shifting on the outer circumference he'd drawn around the foal and the paint mare so that he was on the outside, his body between the other three horses and the large gathering of horses in the meadow. This way, any stallions thinking to come this way would be dissuaded by the chance of a fight when they saw him there, and if the foal did get spooked, she'd be more likely to run away instead of toward him and then toward the big crowd, which could get messy really quickly.

But the foal was talking now, a little curious, and Dee shook his head. "I am Dee and this is Jessaa, and we are together in my herd. I do not know Wraith, but I'd love for you two to join us, or at least spend a little time together. Things get chaotic in the spring."

A Forgotten Tale (Memory)
6 years• Herd mare• Reassured, comforted• Tagged: Leo• Heat stage 2

It was wonderful, how quickly another's presence could calm the beating of her heart. When she was alone, all she could notice was the horrors of the world, the way the shadows leaned out dark and hungry, the way the trees wrapped round the sky as if attempting to blot out the light. But now, with another by her side, whispering comforting words that she had no idea whether he meant or not yet, it was enough for her to slow down, to see the flowers in the grass, the comfort in the other's touch.

Letting out a low rumble, Memory leaned gently against the other, simply reveling in the comfort of company. He spoke of how his child was doing safe and sound despite the abduction, and Memory nodded in turn, falling into a little bit of a daze with the comfort. She certainly hoped that her own foal would be safe and sound as well, but she wasn't too worried. She had trusted her lead mare implicitly, and it would be alright. She'd spent the entire time away from her herd running, it was a relief to now finally stop, one that went into an awareness of how tired she'd been.

When he asked if she was alright, however, Memory perked up, realising that she hadn't been very forthcoming the whole time, only enjoying the voice and company of the other. "Oh, yes, I'm alright. There is no need to apologise. I have had a few foals in my time, having birthed one just recently, but with the separation, I'm sure he will be alright. I would not have wanted to split up with him, but now that we have, it was better that he was with the herd and I was alone instead of the other way around. In that way, I suppose it is something to be thankful for."

The thought of foals made her feel a little lonely, however, and when the other stallion nosed gently against her back, she leaned into it for a moment, before realising what the stallion was doing and letting out a small squeal, stepping back and lifting her hoof. Once that was done, she calmed, though she still kept her rump away from the stallion. She was not yet deep enough in her heat to be covered, especially not by a stallion she'd just met so far. "Perhaps later on." She said softly, before cocking her head. "Did you have anywhere you were heading before we ran into each other?"

Rituals Under Twilight (Voodoo)
3 years•Lone mare• Celebratory, energetic• Tagged: Celeste, Poltergeist• Heat stage 0

Horses were never really meant to be alone.

As they flew across the plains, Voodoo reveled in the simple yet vicarious joy of flying across the plains, a fellow mare by her side. It was a heady, companionable thing, and more than a few times, she threw her head in the air in invitation, even though the other mare was already moving with her in every possible way. No, she knew the other was with her, and it was a wondrous thing, and yet she was simply expressing her joy of having the other here to share in the moment with her. There were joys, certainly, from finally leaving her herd, to be away from concerned eyes and too restrictive sentiments, but there were things she'd missed from being a part of a herd as well.

But then, her companion was slowing, neighing out to a stranger in a way that had Voodoo slowing, her ears perking in curiosity even as she breathed heavily. Who was the other mare calling to?

Now that they had slowed, she could more clearly see that the other mare was around her age, but probably a little older. Where Voodoo's muscles lay lean and stretched across a gaunt frame that still didn't look like it was done stretching, this mare's muscles had filled out her body more comfortably, a little more past the gangly, teenage stage all horses went through as they filled the frames their bones set out for them.

But then as they drew closer, Voodoo noticed that the other horse was in fact a trio of horses, and she whickered excitedly, though she slowed, ears perking in excitement as she did a small trot in place. Though she greatly enjoyed being with other horses, it was always a volatile time, with many other different personalities, and she'd gotten nipped at plenty of times for being too loud with her movements.

As such, she tried to pull herself together, pulling in her energy and stretching her neck out curiously to the other horses, wanting to get the scent of the others. That reminded her, she hadn't even gotten her friend's scent or name yet. "Hello, there!" She greeted, attempting to rectify the problem as she swivelled her head over to meet the mare she'd been running with, also offering to exchange scents. "I'm Rituals Under Twilight, but my parents always just called me Voodoo. Who are you?"

But then, the energy was still flaring from her, amped up from the hard race she'd stopped prematurely, and she took a step back, throwing her head into the air as she invited all the horses around her to race with her, dancing on the spot before she let out a small whinny, excited to see if anyone would take her up on her offer.
