She nodded and sniffed the air and quietly said, "I smell mice, umm... uh... is that tangy smell a squirrel? The other is uh... umm... I think rabbit if it has a meaty smell to it." She looked up at Kai and hoping she got them right.

For a Pup who hadn't even had much time on earth, Willow was certainly attentive to the scents of the forest and the creatures who lived within it, Kai noticed. The first time his trainer had asked him, his response had been that he smelled something that was potentially alive. This little one was much more tuned-in than he had expected. Pride blossomed in his chest, making the Trainee warm inside.

"That’s right! Do you have a favourite? We can work on catching your favourite prey," He told her.

She smiled and said, "I like the rabbit smell the best."

"Okay. Follow me." He sniffed the air to single out the scent of the nearest rabbit. That didn’t take long. They seemed plentiful in this area. Kai made a silent mental note of that for good hunting.

"Now you want to keep your steps light and soft, and keep as quiet as possible. Can you do that?" He asked.

She nodded and began moving forward and set her paws down ever so lightly and she saw the rabbit right there and she waggled her haunches and lunged at the rabbit and brought it down before it could escape. She bit into its neck and she stood up, eyes gleaming and blood on her muzzle. She licked the blood off her muzzle and tried dragging the rabbit to her older brother. The rabbit was the size of her and she looked at Kai and said, "I did it. U think mom with want to share with us? It's as big as me."

Astonishment flashed across Kai's face. He hadn’t been able to actually catch anything- especially with no instruction on how to pounce or where to bite- until he was about ten months old. She was a fast learner, and instinctive if she knew unconsciously where the kill point was.

"Wow...I can’t believe you did it so fast! That’s faster than me!" He exclaimed, a bit louder than he expected, in his shock. "Mum would be proud of you. Why don’t we go show her?"

Willow dragged the rabbit behind her and said through the fur, "I guess I got my iving father's instincts of hunting and fighting. He also learned pretty quickly. It's like I knew what to do, but I'm only a pup and have never learned it." She dragged the rabbit to Grace and dropped it in front of her and said, "Mommy. look what I caught. Kai is a really good teacher. He taught me. He must be the best Hunter ever." She wagged her tail and looked back and Kai with admiration.

Rain

Rain crouched down slightly and prepared herself for Merida's attack. Merida and Anna were fast and more experienced then her, but she would try her best. She wiggled her tailed, getting into a battle stance.

Octavia

Octavia smiled slightly at Acero and Fang before she turned back to Cobalt. "Did you get to say everything that you wanted to?" she asked him.

Realizing the younger pup was waiting for her to start, that was exactly what Merida did. She pushed up with her strong hind legs, jumping up and forward with a grand leap towards her opponent, letting out a happy bark with it.

"Not everything. That’s why I went back later. The first time someone dreamwalks, it’s not advised to stay for prolonged periods of time," Cobalt explained. It could be done if a wolf was skilled and mentally strong enough, but that was extremely rare.

"Come on, let’s go eat, and I’ll tell you more while we do, alright?"

Awkwardness washed over Kai as Willow dragged the rabbit right into the den and openly praised him. It wasn’t something he was used to. That probably wasn’t a good thing, he realized, if he got awkward at a single compliment, however hefty said compliment might be. He licked Willow between the ears.

"I have the best first student I could ever have hoped for. I barely did a thing, really. It was like she already knew it, and just needed a reminder."

Grace had been in a state of half waking, half sleep when the voices of her children roused her. Nothing else would, but her ear had become tuned in well the voices of her young, and she was always there when they needed her. She drew herself up into a proper sitting position, ears pricked as she listened.

"That’s wonderful, you two! Well done!" She didn’t miss the warmth Kai looked down at Willow with, or the admiration in Willow's own eyes. Kai has easily connected with his new little sister. That was good, Grace reflected, because Sira aside, and she'd mostly disregarded him, he had never connected with his other three siblings.
