Apocalypse sat next to Apollo. They were about the same size, and both muscular. "Are you a fighter more on instinct?" he said calmly after Isinn, and inside his head he was planning on how to prove his loyalty. "Also, it is danger to know that many loners know our pack. We had two thieves today." He shook his head. The black streaked brute laid down, looking at Isinn.

{That's fine! c;
I just realized we passed nighttime. It was like page 17 for nighttime.

To Ísinn, Apollo said, "It was nothing but a marsh. Water and mire, as far as the eye can see. You either get lucky enough to find a nice rock to crash on, or you sleep in the mud and pray it isn't quicksand. It was overpopulated and there wasn't much to eat, and most of the water was too dirty to drink anyway. It just... it was misreable." Then another wolf came in and sat beside him. Similar in size and build, the new wolf looked very at ease with his Alpha. He must have a high rank. "I'll fight if I have to," he replied with a blink. "But I'm not cruel." He wasn't sure what else to say, really. He was standoffish and anti-social. Rough around the edges, some called him. And no, if somebody was a threat, he wouldn't hesitate to fight. But he didn't attack for no reason. He swore that he'd never be like his father, in that regard.

Ísinn nodded to Apocalypse as he entered, glad to not be alone. She curled her lip at the thought of living in a marsh, where surely the only prey was fish. "Yuck, fish. No wonder you left." Then she fell silent as Apocalypse began speaking, and she stifled a small laugh. It was the type of question he'd ask, of course. She listened to Apollo's answer. Brief, but sensible. She wondered what Apocalypse's answer would have been, had somebody asked him the same question. She trusted him, which made it was easy to forget his fighting spirit.

Apocalypse nodded, pleased with his reasonable and simple answer. "Tell me a little bit more of your history. You might clean out parts you hate, but otherwise, I must know a tad bit more about you. And we can tell a bit of ourselves, too." He glanced at Isinn. "I must introduce myself, my apologies," Apocalypse said formally. "I'm Apocalypse, son of Oromis. Of the pack, I am beta male. Pheaca is my mate," he said, glancing at the pretty black fae at Eris's den.

Apollo laughed a little. "You're right, I left because of the food." Then, when the brute spoke, he turned to listen. Ugh, it was so confusing talking to more than one wolf at once! When he finished speaking, Apollo dipped his head politely. "Thank you, Apocalypse. I'm Apollo." He thought carefully for no more than a second, then began to speak again. "My parents- I never knew their names, really- were loners. I wasn't close to them; they largely ignored me and my siblings." Well, that was partially true, at least. "I had a lot of littermates, seven to be exact. I was the eighth born, the runt of the litter. I was undersized and too weak to play, so my siblings ignored me as well. I spent my time alone. Then my father began training us for wild life." He fought hard to keep the growl out of his voice. "When I thought I'd learned enough, I left. I couldn't wait to get away from my... family." He said the word slowly, carefully. He hadn't ever thought of them as family, really. Family members didn't leave bloody scars on their own. He was suddenly thankful for thick fur that covered his scarred skin, hiding the scratches and bitemarks like secrets. "I was a loner in that marsh I talked about earlier, but I left and lived in a tundra a little bit outside of your territory. It wasn't great there, either, though. I heard that there was a nearby pack, and by then, instict was telling me that I needed a pack. So I came here." He hoped it woud be enough.

Ísinn sat back and listened quietly; she'd already introduced herself and spoken with the newcomer for a while, but she wanted to observe how he interacted with others in the pack. Suddenly, she remembered hearing that Pheaca was expecting pups. She'd have to talk to them later. Her mind was whirling. So much to do, so little time. And now this new guy was here. He'd never lived life in a pack, which meant she'd have to spend some time teaching him their customs. There weren't enough hours in a day.

Apocalypse nodded again, but he kept silent. He took in all he had heard, but he kept thinking about how he was going to have Apollo prove his loyalty. He looked at Isinn, his amber gaze wavering in the usual cruel gaze. "Please, you may go first of explaining the pack," he said, flicking his paw.

Ísinn nodded curtly to Apocalypse, then faced Apollo. "In the pack, we have ranks. I am the alpha, meaning I am in charge. When I get a mate, he'll become the alpha male and lead with me." If I get a mate. "Apocalypse and his mate Pheaca are the betas. They're second-in-command, if you will. But you'd do well to treat them with the same respect as you'd treat me, because since there's no alpha male, they help me out quite a bit with leading the pack. Omegas are your everyday wolves, not a high rank but not a low rank. She paused, realizing suddenly that she had only one omega. We may have to promote some subcoordinates soon. But were any of them ready? Her pack was painstakingly small. "Then, there's the subcoordinates. That's what you'll be, if you do join our ranks. They are the lower-ranked wolves, still learning the ropes, so to speak. Our healer is Eris, who you'll want to make a good impression on. She and her apprentices Edmee and Stormurinn use herbs to heal our sick and wounded pack members. They also speak with our ancestors for guidance." She frowned. Did he know about their ancestors? Maybe tonight she could take him to see the sky lights, and explain to him more about the ancestors. Then she continued. "Everybody in the pack is held accountable for keeping us alive. You must remember that the pack must be cared for first. When you catch elk, deer, caribou, or moose, you are expected to bring them to camp and alert everybody that food has been caught. We share large game so that it doesn't rot. Fish, rabbits, squirrels, voles, birds, and the like are simply to be dropped onto the kill pile. Wolves can eat those whenever they're hungry, within reason. Before eating them, though, they must hunt or patrol the borders, depending on what I, Apocalypse, or Pheaca tell them to do. You may not eat unless the pack is cared for and your responsibilities are taken care of- we will not allow any wolves to laze around in the sun all day, and eat our precious prey without contributing anything to the pack. When you catch prey, you must make sure that there's enough for the rest of the pack to eat before you do so. Pups and nursing queens are fed first, followed by the healers. Only when they are fed may the rest of us eat; without them, we would have no future, and so we feed them first. Due to the herds dying out, Apocalypse and I have made a new rule regarding hunting. When hunting herd animals, you may only catch eight males and one female per moon. In addition, you may only catch the ones that would die anyways- the weak, sickly, starving, injured, or old ones. If you're found to be breaking this rule, you will be punished. If the herds aren't able to repopulate, we're in grave danger." Her gaze was somber. "We must make sure that our precious supplies of herbs and prey aren't stolen or tampered with. If you find loners in our territory, they are to be escorted to me, alive. If they try to attack you, though... Just, do whatever it takes to stay alive. Try not to get injured though, for Heaven's sakes. Herbs are scarce enough as it is." She hesitated, wondering if she'd forgotten anything. Her mind was too busy to focus on this. "Do you have anything to add, Apocalypse?" she asked.

Pheaca
The Beta trotted up to her mate in the snow
and sat beside him, bending her head down. "Are we to tell
them about the pups?" She whispered so only Apocalypse could
hear. Pheaca laid down nodding at Isinn and the update of rules
for the pack. She eyed the newcomer for a few seconds, worrying
about the pups and their safety, but also about how the pack
will hold up and when she'll hunt again.
