Toby wandered away from the waiting Hunters to search for the Warrior in question, their recently appointed Lead, to pass on Amrose's orders and search for a free Warrior to accompany the hunting party. It didn’t take long in the crowd of annoyed wolves to spot the Lead either. "Excuse me, sorry to interrupt whatever is going on over here, but Lead? May I have a word with you?"

The brown furred Warrior's shoulders tensed up. "It’s not a CRIME, y'know, and if we didn’t have wolves just sittin' 'round and doin' nothin' then I wouldn’t have HAD to." Karter's tone was grumpy at having been told off. So much for being helpful and actually doing his job. "It’s not MY fault no one else was doin' anything. I’m just tryin' to help before folks decide to settle in and plant themselves in the sun." He glanced at Axis. "And I wasn’t the one screaming at the top of their lungs. I called. Smoke's the one who was howling at everyone to get up."

Max's gaze shifted to the she-wolf who had spoken, his Beta. Undoubtedly a wolf he was fond of, or as close to fond as he had been known to get, anyway. He certainly appreciated the loyalty she served with and the work she did. Even the things that stayed off his radar as Alpha, she was quick to nab and take care of. Diligent and loyal.

Max's amber eyes focused on the smaller wolf. "Good morning to you too, Beta. I did. I hope you can say the same?" Sure, there was work to be done, but friendly greetings were a perfect way to start off any day, and there were few wolves Max was on 'friendly' terms with, socially speaking. Enui was one of the few.

Arian reached out to greet her sister with a gentle lick on the ear, oblivious to the other gaze that was Enui focused on her briefly. "Good morning to you too! Any big plans for the day?" Arian wasn’t the biggest talker in the world, not possessing the same levels of social aptitude as her sister, but she supposed Hunters in general had to have better communication than Warriors, working almost exclusively in teams.

She was pregnant, so she needed to eat. She hummed a canine sound, getting a rabbit and sitting down.

The playful and loyal but fiery and stubborn one looked around for Jay. The pretty chocolate one, with a eh it e muzzle and chest patch, sighed. S/he then looked over and saw Stryker. He was with Talon, and they felt like something was up between those two. Their white tipped tail flicked. They stood up on white paws and headed over. Light gray eyes focused mostly on their trainer though. They said “Good morning,” once they actually got close enough to the two.

The happy and lucky but hard headed and sometimes loud one smiled. The black nosed dark gray one said “I am ready. What are we doing today?” they asked, and tilted their head. The ears and tail moved a bit as they asked and looked at him.

The honest and trustworthy but sometimes cold and cruel one hummed a canine sound. She licked her belly a couple times. There were pups growing within, and she was extremely happy. She hoped nothing would ever happen to them. The beautiful gray wolf wondered if Pandora was up. The amber eyed she wolf was friends with the other she wolf.

The story loving but cold one hummed a canine sound then sighed. He stood and shook out black fur, then looked about. Brown eyes, which sometimes looked amber, saw all the others. He hadn’t been told he was needed for anything yet.

"Hopefully nothing too crazy, with this heat I feel like I can't function" She panted, venting to her sister. "But Hati's already called for a morning hunt so I'll have to get ready for that." Autumn stood and stretched once more, trying to shake the heat and get her body moving. "I'm going to go meet with the other hunters for now, have a good day Arian and try not to pick too many fights!" She chuckled as she walked up to the other group of hunters.
"Good morning guys, say, what are Apollo and Bones over there whispering about?" She asked, tilting her head at the two trainees.

"I didn't!" Karter growled. He normally liked Axis well enough, but what he didn’t like was being talked down to. Karter wasn’t a large wolf by any means, to put it lightly, but still he drew himself up, less so to be threatening and more to make sure he didn’t appear to be shrinking under his Packmates. "It’s not exactly sunrise. Look, if it’s warm, if it’s light, and if the Alpha's up, as far as I’m concerned, it’s ‘bout time we got started. Unless, of course, you’d rather get snapped at by the Alpha." He shrugged nonchalantly as best he could.

Toby shot Karter an almost pleading look. Stop making a fuss! How in the name of this forest am I related to that wolf? The last thing they needed was a fight on their hands. They got enough of that from their rivalling Pack. He dipped his head respectfully to the other Lead though, tearing himself away from the scene unfolding in front of them. "Direct orders from Beta Ambrose. The Hunters are for safety purposes required to have at least one Warrior with them on hunts. We’ve got a decent sized group. Wondering if there’s a Warrior to spare?" He asked hopefully.

Smoke shut up at the sound of a chipper, friendly voice by her ear. "Basil!" The grey furred she-wolf turned to paw playfully at her friend's cheek. "Always! Got anything in mind? They’ve got a watch going out and everyone's— understandably— mad at me, so they won’t want me along, I bet, and they’ve got a good few. So! What’s going through that head of yours?" The words all seemed to come out at once, flowing without slowing down to wait for actual answers.

"She’s a good enough fighter in the field, puts her energy to good use. I just wish she wouldn’t take out the leftovers on us." Then Ambrose was speaking. Two more Hunters to join them, just like that. Around here, nobody dared disobey either Alpha or Beta, and while Shadow had been silent that morning, Ambrose's orders were not to be questioned. Toby dipped his head respectfully. "Yessir. Will do." He glanced at Storm. "Actually, would you lead Alistair and Eurydice to the edge of the field? I’ll join you in a few moments, I have to first grab a Warrior to act as guard."

Toby had no issues with that. The past couple days had been peaceful, but they couldn’t afford to let their guard down, and while they were focused on the hunt, the Hunters themselves often had little awareness of anything but the prey right in front of them. He knew that.


Shadow | Alpha | L-Pack | Tagging: Ambrose | Location: Camp


Many wolves did not display this gesture of respect, and Shadow let it slide. She wasn't particularly strict when it came to manners, as long as everyone was doing their jobs and there was order, but admittedly, it was still nice to see the respect of a Pack member to his superior. Shadow was a large wolf, it was hard to look her in the eye anyway, but she couldn’t help but notice the unspoken gesture that was Ambrose watching her without meeting her eyes deliberately. She was distant from most of her Packmates, but this…this was nice.

"Well, I see the Hunters are setting out, and it looks like Karter's gathering a watch group. Hopefully he takes that little grey furred noisemaker with him." Her words were a slight insult to Smoke, but her tone was fond. "For now, would you check with the Healers and see if they need any help searching for herbs, or a guard during a search? There’s been a lot to do recently."

Grant couldn’t deny that he was soaking up the praise. He loved compliments…and they were always twice as encouraging coming from Saffron. They'd been young when they’d found each other, and Grant couldn’t imagine being without her now that she was a huge part of his life. He gently licked her cheek and settled down beside his mate.

"Of course," he agreed. They didn’t have to watch over Lucas 24/7 anymore now that he was fully trained and graduated, which allowed for more time for the two of them to relax together. To curl up and share a meal just like this. Oh the simple things in life that meant so much!
