Flame ran into the forest when he smelled it. Human. He saw it coming for Melody. His pace quickened. No one kills an alpha! It's not the ways of the forest, yet humans always break laws. Flame raced to Melody's side and jumped in front of her as the bullet was shot. The bullet sank into Flame. Flame raced after the men and pounced on them, killing them. He didn't pick out the bullet until he was sure it was safe.

Flame looked at her, panting. "Anything for an alpha," he said and dug his teeth into his stomach, then pulled out a large chunk, which contained the bullet. He made no sound but quickly stretched. "I'll be back, I'm going hunting."

Flame's side was sore, but he refused to pay attention to it. He was strong, and could deal with the pain. He wandered off and smiled smelling elk once again. He raced down the slope and rushed into the herd for fun, then carelessly loped behind an elder. When it showed signs of serious tiring, Flame turned it hard back towards the camp. It had a second wind and stampede straight for the camp. They were so close Flame could see Melody's face. He quickly jumped onto the elk, forcing it to loose its balance and Flame killed it with a sudden rush of teeth onto its neck. He stepped aside looking at it, normally. He was no longer panting.

Flame looked over and smiled at her, then chuckled lightly. "Here's the food," he said playfully and hauled the elk to her. "Here's some more," he said and smiled at the thigh. "I kinda took a few bites out of it already. Sorry."
