"Maybe," she nodded. "I just don't think he was every truly sound in his mind......He always hated Kar, and things like that. He always disliked something, mostly for no reason. Even as a pup, he liked to torture small animals......" She tried to stop herself from doubling over in pain as a cough shook her.

Silex

Silex shook his head and put a paw on Vivian's shoulder when he saw her wince slightly again. "Don't worry," he reassured her, "Just relax, you don't have to say anymore if you don't want to."
He licked her side lightly, trying his best not to hurt her ribs.

Vivian

"It's fine," she said, taking as deep a breath as she could. "I just haven't had someone to talk to for so long......." she looked up at him. "Thanks for listening to me. I've just been talking and talking, and you never once judged me or complained. Thanks you."

Silex

Silex smiled and shook his head. "You don't have to thank me." he replied, "I've just been here when you needed me."

Vivian

She shook her head. "You don't understand - that was the best thing could could have ever done for me. No one has ever listened, and it made me feel great when you did." She smiled, walking beside him.

Silex

Silex sighed. "Okay." he said in a light, breezy tone. He then looked away, and watched the ground beneath his feet.

Vivian

Vivian could tell there was something on his mind. "What's wrong, Silex?" she asked.

The grey wolf stalked them on the path. She could feel the scars on her face burn, and she gave a cruel smile as she watched them together. This was going to be fun.

Silex

Silex sighed. He looked up and said, "I've decided I'm going to be choosing my mate fairly soon. I think I know wh that will be but I'm not completely sure yet-and I know that someone's going to get really hurt."

Vivian

She nodded. "I understand. Completely." Her face was a mask of cool, not showing the hurt on the inside. "She will be a lucky girl."

The Stranger

The dark grey wolf curled her lip at their conversation. Stupid girl! she thought, her ears flat against her head. She crept away, then called.
"Krarr!" she hissed, and the raven flew up to her. "Follow Vivian and the boy she's with. I will take your eyes."

He turned his head and looked into Vivian's eyes. "You think so?" he asked, slowing down a little bit.
