Lone mare
Plains, watching a band
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Mariah was alone and grazing, content to just hang tight. She'd need a herd later on for the harsh season of winter, but for now it was spring and the weather was fair. The mare lifted her head and looked across the area, seeing who was around. She'd only recently come here, and on this scan of the area she was not disappointed. There were roughly two pairs of horses, both a set of a stallion and a mare. (Akuma, et al.) The mare considered calling out, she wasn't against meeting new horses but since there were two stallions it would be possible that they could get to fighting. Unless they were bachelors together, but even then those partnerships normally ended up badly due to the fact that they eventually had to divvy up mares and there was the original problem again. The silver black mare considered it for a minute more then turned her head away from the four horses and called out. They would likely still hear her, but it could be more likely that only one would come over. Plus who knew who else would answer her.

Leaving a watering-hole
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The silver stallion stood tall next to the watering hole, water dripping off his chin as his dark gaze calmly scanned the area. His muzzle twitched and nostrils flared, taking in the spring scents flowing on the winds. Heat scent, blood, sweat... It was invigorating, to a point. With a snort, he picked up a trot away from the watering hole. However, there was a surprise only a little bit aways from the water. Much to his surprise he stumbled upon a large stallion that was covered in wounds and that generally looked very downcast(Gator). The lithe stallion paused, unsure how exactly to react the sight of this draft.
"Bad day at the office, mate?" He asked, his tone extremely serious. He didn't wish to come off as if he were mocking Gator, but quite honestly it was only response he could think of. Whatever this stallion had gone through, it was obvious that he would not have any mares and he'd be needing a friendly face.

Approaching a herd
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Cain had been prowling around looking for a good opportunity. Either a large band or a lone mare would do. Lone mares were self-explanatory, the large bands were a target due to the many mares within them, stallions couldn't keep their eyes on all of their mares 24/7. Personally he preferred stalking bands, it might not be as easy but it was a bit more fulfilling and had chances for a bigger payoff. Besides, he could pick up lone mares along the way as he shadowed. Now, it was time to pick a band.
The paint stallion caught scents on the wind, turning to track down the band. It took him about ten minute and as he paused a good distance away from the band, he cocked his head. This was something different, there were two stallions(Hound & Devil). They had probably only recently taken over this band from the old stallion. Therefore mares would still distrust them and there could be an opportunity for Cain here.
The young stallion paused and looked over the mares, trying to find one who was kinda off on her own. And there she was, a white mare on the fringes. (Essence) Cain's muzzle twitched at the heat scent in the air and slowly headed down towards the mare. He kept his head low and didn't get too close to the band. But he was close enough to send out a low snicker that only Essence was supposed to hear.

Leaving the forest
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The young brindled mare was on the move, a good trot was her clip. She was headed away from the forest, disliking the way the woods felt to her. She was in heat and this led her to try and fight her hormonal urges, a.k.a. she was trying to avoid stallions. She'd be willing to link up with another mare, but that entailed some risk as well. The horses there were together the easier they were to find. The mare continued along as she was for a bit more, but she then felt the ground tremble slightly. It was very faint, barely noticeable. But she had been looking for something like this. It was a warning in a way. She continued to move, ignoring the warning for now. She heard it next, the pounding of multiple sets of hooves on the ground. She'd figured it was a single stallion with a mare or two. But as she spotted the group, it became clear by the dynamics that it was a bachelor pair harassing a single mare. (Ninja, Samurai & Nala) That was not what she was expecting and wished that she'd heeded those warnings she'd noted. The brindle chestnut turned away from the trio and put a little more speed into her trot, though she didn't want to flat out run lest she draw attention to herself.
