She looked up at the still cloudy sky, squinting as small drops fell onto her grey/blue and white face. "Yeah, i hope i never have to too." she told Chance. She stood up and stretched, feeling more comfortable being with Chance now than when she had first ran into him, literally. She felt hunger gnaw at her belly and she winced, it had been weeks since she had a decent meal. Since being on the streets, she had only had a few mouthfuls of anything, just enough to get her by. "Do you happen to know where i can get some food?" she asked him curiously. hoping he wouldn't mind sharing some of his food with her.

Miley laughed a little and said, "He is a very protective brother, but I know that he means well. Sometimes though if you're lucky, you'll see his sweet side. That's usually only with me, pups, kids, and strays he trusts though..." She glanced over at Marcus and said, "You can calm down now Marcus, I trust Reggie."

Marcus rolled his eyes and said, "Ok Miley, you can stop talking about me now; I'm standing right here." At Miley's words saying that she trusted Reggie, he calmed down a little bit and smiled a little. Marcus knew that Miley had good judgement of character. He glanced over at Reggie and said, "Sorry, I just don't trust strays very easily like my sister."

He smiled at Miley and nodded, glancing behind her at Marcus one more. "It's ok, it's good to be cautious, but you have nothing to fear from me." he told them. When she turned to her brother and said that she trusted him, he felt something pass through him and smiled. It had been a long time since he had heard anyone say they trusted him and even though it wasn't any more than simply trusting him that he wouldn't try and attack them, it still made him feel good. And more importantly, it gave him hope. He looked at Marcus and dipped his head, "No need to apologize" he told the male. He pricked his ears as he heard brakes squeak just outside the alley and turned around to scent the air. He knew that scent anywhere.. "We need to go. Now." he told Miley and Marcus, still staring down the alley.

Miley smiled when Reggie did, and her tail wagged slightly. 'This is one of the few times that I've seen another friendly stray other than Marcus. I hope we can talk to him for awhile; it's nice for a change.' Suddenly, she saw Reggie tense up; he smelled something that bothered him. He sounded tense and urgent. She knew that there was something not right. She turned to look at her brother, and he saw fear mixed in with protectiveness. "Dogcatcher.." he growled.

Marcus nodded, feeling slightly uneasy, though he wasn't sure why. He heard the screeching of tires, and he smelled the air. He knew the smell immediatly, and he growled, "Dogcatcher.." He felt Miley tense next to him, and he stepped in front of her slightly. Even though he knew that she could take care of herself, he was still extremely protective of her.

He adjusted his stance as he he heard Marcus say 'Dog catcher'. He was well aware of who and what was already there, but, hearing that name just made it worse. He stepped back and looked at Marcus as he stepped in front of Miley. "If we run now before they see us, we might be able to get away without them following us." he said, then looked back at Miley. He heard a car door shut and knew they only had a minute or so to move otherwise they would be on a run for their lives. "Come on, move your paws." he said urgently, but kept his voice low so as not to attract attention. He nudged Miley gently in the other direction and looked back at marcus, hoping the male would follow suit.

"Yeah." Kaapo said shrugging. Kia seemed like a planning, and high self-esteemed dog.

Chance:
"Ya! Why don't I show you." He nodded, turning. He looked over his shoulder to be sure the female dog was following. He began padding towards an abandoned barn. He sniffed, he could smell the mice. He ducked his head underneath a wire fence, slightly cutting her back on the sharp wire. It didn't matter to him, it was nothing compared to the scars all over his body from other experiences.

Leo:
Leo pranced around. He splashed in every puddle he could, dirting up his black and white pelt.

Miley froze, and faced the direction that the dogcatcher was coming from. She knew that they should run, but it was as if she couldn't control her legs. She was frozen in her terror. 'I can't go back to the pound. I won't go back to the pound. I will never go back to the pound.' She felt Reggie nudge her, and she snapped out of her terrorized trance. Determination replaced the terror in her eyes, and she nodded at Reggie. She began to follow him, but then she realized that Marcus wasn't following them. She glanced at him, and pleaded, "Marcus, please come on! I don't want to go to the pound again.."

Marcus raised his tail slightly, and a fearsome low growl escaped from his mouth. He was going to protect Miley no matter what. When she pleaded with him though, he turned to her, and nodded. He remembered how she hated the pound, and he wasn't going to risk her going there again. He ran up to where Miley and Reggie were, and he said, "Where do we go?"

Kia nodded, smiling slightly, and she walked toward the food pile. She grabbed a plump squirrel, and she said to Kaapo, "Feel free to eat anything if you'd like. I have plenty!" She laid down, and she began to slowly eat the squirrel.

Macie got up and ran around. She found a small hide-out looking place and slowly walked in. ''There are others!'' she thought, her ears pricked up.

Kia froze, and she perked her ears slightly. It almost smelled as if someone was coming toward them. Kia stood up, her fur standing up, and she faced the entrance. She saw a small female, who looked like she was happy to find other dogs. Kia's fur slowly lowered, but she stayed on her guard. "Hello, who are you?" she asked.
