Silver had just found a small stream in the very muggy forest, which was causing sweat to run down her beautiful silver dapple coat, and had drank some of the cool water when she heard a stallion call close by. Silver lets out a loud whinny and stands there with perked up ears as she waits for a response.

The answering whinny of a mare made him pinn his ears in satisfaction and run faster. He emerged onto the riverbank and slammed to a halt. Across the river stood a silver dapple mare. Rearing up, Soltz struck out with his forelegs, displaying his strength, then plunged into the river, headed toward the mare.

Silver sees a coyote dun stallion emerge on the other side of the river and whinnies in excitement. She watches the stallion swim over to her and moves off to the side a bit so the stallion would have a safe area to come to land.
