Ghost Chill thundered across the plain, besides being kicked from his herd, the mares rejected him. Snorting, his nostrils flared as his long shadow was cast across the yellow grass. Sighing he skidded to a halt. "Where to now?" Ghost Chilli pondered. Shaking his white mane, his tail and heavy feathering billowed behind him. The stallion lowered his head to graze, nibbling on the tiny remains of green grass. Bits fell from his muzzle as his oval eyes scanned the perimeter around him.Having grown tired, Chilli lay down, creating a large arch of grass over himself. Still breathing heavily he tried to remember the good old days. He slipped quickly into a dream, though his head remained upright.
Ghost Chilli was back with Maya and Desert Lilly, his only mares. They were strong but respected him. They had just foaled and three little bundles of joy trundled about him. Maya nursed her single foal contently, it looked a lot like Maya but would soon be almost as big as Ghost Chilli. The stallion chuckled, it echoed like with most dreams that seemed hazed.
Ghost Chilli had a smile slowly creeping across his face, "Ah...the good old days" He muttered as he gently lowered his head, as the memories turned from good to bad.
That's when it all went wrong, a smaller but more agile stallion arrived on the scene. The resident stallion, neighed at his herd to find cover. "Go! Quickly!" He snorted as he came face to face with the challenger. The mares, whinnied reluctantly and Maya led her foal and Desert LIlly led her rare living twins to the safety and shelter of the forest. "You are not welcome here..." Chilli stated, pounding the earth with his mighty hooves. The challenger smirked, "We'll see about that!" As quick as the fight began it was over. GThost Chilli had won but by cheating. The mares glared at him, not wanting to be part of his life any more, instead they opted for the stallion that had lost the battle but reaped Ghost Chilli's reward.
The stallion jolted away. "No more!" He snorted, standing abruptly, his joints cracking. Lowering his head, he lipped at a small flower. "Maya, Desert Lilly" He muttered, "Where are you? Are you okay?" It had been several years since the incident and he had never learned to trust properly again. His insecurities led him to be some what cruel but only as a defence mechanism to make sure Ghost Chilli was never hurt emotionally again.
