there seemed to be no one around- none of his warriors. where were they when he needed them?
he would go on a border patrol on his own- but what was the purpose of a patrol if he's the only one?

he couldn't ask elon- as he was out of commission because of his injuries... he shouldn't have gone ahead and attacked that coyote family- but who could blame him? at least one warrior had done one stupid thing- which he, himself will not admit. maybe if you ask his mother then she'll surely explain to you what he did.

brutus trotted around. maybe he should go ahead on his own...maybe baronne wouldn't mind.

the brute padded, following the other's scent, finding him under some shade. he looked down at him, his ear flicking as he lowered his head a little, "baronne. get up and come patrol with me-..." he trailed off and looked over his shoulder before looking back at the other male, "and this is not a request- it's an order. the alpha- and beta, wants us to patrol the territory for loners and send them on their way. you are the only one i could find and not in the healer's den." he sighed before looking back over his shoulder, wondering if rocco was doing okay without him...even if he was scared senseless of him.

she lifted her head a little when eclipse entered the den, however her mind went straight to oak when
eclipse entered. "oak? how is he??" she asked the fae, her tail wagging slightly. but she sighed.

she raised her head a little, looking at the young darling as she offered to pick off the fleas and ticks off of her- which would be great as she couldn't stand those buggers. "oooo, you are such a dear. i would like that if you wouldn't mind...in return i can tell you a story," she chuckled before looking over towards the young brute that was near the gamma den. she paid him some mind, but he'd probably be interested in such stories. after all, she didn't tell the best of stories.

"i'm sure that oak will be around by the time i finish the story," she smiled before looking around for her deceased mate one more time before looking back at eclipse. "maybe brubru can join if he's not busy." which he probably is. and don't mind the nickname that she gave to her son right there on the spot. just shush. don't worry.

was he trying to get himself killed? possibly. he backed up a little when doll decided to peer into the bushes. he swiped at her, not meant for it to attack her- maybe spook her a bit. "why are you so interested in me? i'm just a passerby'r, nothing to see here." he shrugged a little before looking down at the ground, more interested in the ground rather than the wolf herself. but let's not get distracted here. "and I believe that i asked you for your name first- so i don't have to tell you my name right at the moment...unless you tell me yours."

he listened to her speak, which made him more calm. he wagged his tail and listened to what nickname ash gave
brutus, along with the difference between an omega and a beta. he was about to say something else, but ash had pushed

him up before her with her snout. was there something wrong? why was he pushed to the front of the line? his ear flicked as he looked up at another wolf, and instantly ran underneath the obsidian fae. he stayed put staring at the alpha and then tried to look up at ash, wondering if she was going to say something about this. maybe he should just- rocco took a step out from underneath ash and looked up at the other wolves, cocking his head to the side. maybe if he acted cutely then maybe his actions would be dismissed. he didn't want to get snapped at...especially from what brutus had told him...along with ash. he looked up at ash, "are they going to eat me too, ash?"

Eclipse

Eclipse’s voice got stuck in her throat as the old Gamma mentioned her mate, who had passed away a while ago. Her cheeks burned under her fur uncomfortably. However, she then offered to tell a story in return for her cleaning her pelt off. Eclipse wagged her fluffy tail in response. “O-of course! And thank you!” She exhaled, and lay down in front of the elderly wolf. She expertly scented out the little, annoying ticks and fleas, and started to groom them off, being as gentle as she could. Her ears perked up, and she blinked twice, pulling off a large bug.

she smiled when the young fae agreed to their arrangement. She thought for a minute on what story to tell the young wolf.

She pondered for a moment longer before smiling, “You know, Brutus was a very clumsy pup- he kept tripping over his own tail- getting himself in all sorts of trouble... one time a friend and I were out and about in the forest with Brutus...”

...She padded along the riverbank with a fellow packmate, talking and keeping an eye on Brutus as he weaved around both the wolves’ legs. The other wolf that was with her was not oak- it was just a friend who kept her company ever since they were pups themselves.

They were too engrossed in their conversation to notice that Brutus, nearly nine months old at the time, had once again tripped over his own tail, which sent him tumbling down a hill. Luckily he wasn’t hurt- but they had to go and retrieve him before something other than a wolf decide to have him for snack...


“...but i was at fault for not keeping an eye on him. Should’ve left him at camp but Oak wasn’t around to watch over him- and the omegas were suspicious lookin- I didn’t want to leave Brutus in the care of those two mangey mutts.” She grumbled as she fiddled with her paws a bit. “I’m not the greatest story teller, but Oak is. He tells amazing stories. If only if he would stop ignoring me and come join us.” She looked at the group, her tail thumping at the ground. Hmph. Maybe she should tell one of oak before he decided to ignore her and his own son. Maybe. If eclipse would want to listen to another boring story.

“Oh I’m entitled?” He asked as he swisher his tail looking st the wolf. He laughed a little, “okay, sure doll, whatever you say.” Helix then waited for her to finish saying what she was saying before laughing at her reaction when he swiped at her. “I’m sorry- it was my reflexes- you got too close,” He thumped his tail on the ground and moved over to the left some. “But since you told me your name- I won’t tell you mine.. Hm. What a shame.” He turned his head and chuckled softly. “As I’m just a wolf on some territory. How should you know that you’re not trespassing on my territory?”

Eclipse tilted her head as she continued to nose through Elanor’s matted fur. She felt a giggle rising in her throat, but it was immediately pushed down when the Gamma mentioned her deceased mate. Eclipse decided to pretend to get her mouth on a particularly large flea. She did not respond for a few heartbeats, then let out a little cough. She wasn’t sure wether to gently remind the poor wolf that her mate had passed on, or to just leave it be. “Y-yes, I’m sure Oak’s stories wer- are great! Do you, um, have one of him?” She wagged her tail hopefully and popped a tick.

Altair paused as a silvery loner showed himself, causing him to blink rapidly. After a short bout of silence, the male found his tongue. "Duko eh?" He tilted his head then huffed and sat down. "Calm down dude, you're not on pack land at least not as far as I know." Not like it would be my job to chase him off anyways. He thought absently. He left that hard work for the warriors. "The name's Altair, nice to meet you." He glanced around and took a deep whiff of the air to make sure they were truly alone. He'd hate for one of his pack-members to catch the two talking and insinuate that he wasn't loyal to the pack.

Though that train of thought wasn't far off, he was loyal to the pack, just maybe not to its current management. Letting his muscles relax, the brute gave his shoulders a roll stretching the muscles in his front legs a little. Turning his gaze back to the loner, he tilted his head and asked, "You from around here?"

As the two came to a stop in front of Aria and Quelie, Nisha opened her jaws then paused as Rocco spoke. Which caused her to mentally groan, with a mixture od Irritation and amusement. Bringing her gaze down to Rocco she allowed a chuckle to escape. "No, they won't eat you, Rocco. You're much too cute." She told the pup softly with a warm voice. Shaking her head slightly the female gave Rocco a small comforting lick on the head then turned her gaze back to Aria.

"Sorry to Interrupt Alpha, but Brutus found this little bugger around the territory not long ago." She reported, her voice going monotone. Nisha glanced down at Rocco, then added," From what I can tell, Rocco's alone." Nisha hadn't caught the scent of other loners around that area where Rocco was found, nor did the pup smell like he'd been around other wolves for a day or two. Which was concerning.

As Elon drifted off, his body shook slightly before curling in around into a tight ball. Subconsciously Elon tended to move and fidget a lot in his sleep. He often ended up kicking any den-mates he had, so the young male tended to sleep alone most of the time. Sadly his dreams were rarely not nightmares. Though they weren't just nightmares, but memories. It was mostly the day that he and his sister Vesa gained most of the scars they had as pups. Things always turned out worse in these dreams.

Sometimes Vesa would escape unscarred, but he would leave with a horrible limp, leaving him with no choice but to become a healer later in life. In another, Elon's parents got back late and all four of their pups had been attacked and forever scarred for life. The variations left Elon breathless and jumpy every time he woke up. The worse version yet though, was in a nightmare that his parents got back very late, only to find two of his siblings dead, Vesa and him close to it. In that nightmare, Elon is the only one to survive, and later his parents in their grief; blame him for the death of his sisters and abandon him.

When the pup asked if she was going to eat him, she couldn’t help but chuckle at his words. “Of course not dear one. The gammas might.” the white wolf said shaking her head. When Nisha told her about where the pup was found, she raised an eyebrow at her statement. A pup all alone? Especially with lone wolves around? And his parents weren’t even to be found.


“Where exactly did he find him? Hmm odd that he was all alone, that’s a bit concerning. He can stay here, as long as Brutus keeps an eye on him. He’s his responsibility since he found him. And if he’s hungry, let him help himself. The pup probably hasn’t eaten much. And I’ll have one of the healers to come check him out.” Aria said calmly, eyeing the pup.

The brute listened to the older fae’s story and a chuckle rumbled in his throat. Adjusting himself from laying on his side, Enapay crossed his paws over one another and watched the two. He noticed Eclipse removing ticks from Elanor while she was telling the tale of her son Brutus. He was familiar with the male, but not too close to him. The hunter male respected the other male even though he was a hunter and Brutus was the lead warrior.

Octavia clenched her teeth and glared at Helix. “No more questions till I get my answer. I know where my borders are and I’m staying on the right side of it and so should you” she replied cooly. She rolled her eyes. “You’re very interesting, frustrating-“ she paused and rolled her eyes.

The older white wolf watched as her friend wandered off to go join her daughter. Rerina looked over at her own daughter Aria and padded over, but stopped when the alpha was busy. Her ears flicked to the sides in annoyance but she understood that her daughter had responsibilities. Rerina could remember the day when Aria was appointed being the new alpha and regardless of how proud both she and Aria were, there was no doubt that Rerina could sense some hesitation in her daughter once she accepted the role.


Aria, you need to be calm.....the alpha role was passed onto you for a reason. The previous alpha must have seen something in you so I don’t know why you’re being so unsure and all. This pack needs to look up to you, not only as a leader but also as a friend. I know you were looking forward to being a delta after me, but you just got handed the best opportunity that only happens once in a while. I’m proud of you, as your father would be. And I’m sure Quelie will still like you now that you’re an alpha. You’re young but I know you’ll fine. And who knows maybe you’ll have Quelie be the alpha male.

But mom how can I lead a pack when I haven’t had much training?! Plus I’m the daughter of delta parents! Not from the alpha! And how can you be sure that Quelie will even still love me now that I’m alpha? But I’ll definitely do my best, not only for you mom but also for dad as well. Rerina recalled the memory and shook her head. It didn’t seem that long ago when Aria was appointed alpha but over time she took her role as leader seriously. Rerina felt a smile form on her old face and she padded over the gamma den, with pheasant in tow.

the gamma laughed a little before nodding, "of course I do!" she sang as her tail hit the ground happily. she closed her eyes, trying to conjure up a story about her mate.

it did take awhile, but she had finally dug through her brain and managed to find a story. she sighed and smiled a little, "There was a spot somewhere near the waterfall that we used to take walks up to. It was a nice place. It wasn't very well known for our packmates- maybe a couple, but that that was all. I even took Brutus up there one day- but he ended up not returning there...for some reason. Maybe you could go ask him?...for me at least.."

She closed her eyes and thought about the place of solitude. The spot was relatively small- only fit for two or three wolves at a time. What was this place? It was just a rock that hung over the waterfall a bit, where the shade and sun balanced out pretty well. There were also pretty flowers that grew there as well- but they have been long since gone. What made it so special? It was just an escape. A place where you can get your mind off of things.

The gamma relaxed her head on the ground and thought for a minute, "I would love to go back there- but these old bones won't climb anything that high...Maybe you should go there Eclipse," she then looked at Enapay, "You too." she hummed as she swished her tail a little.

He laughed a little, "Doll, don't name call- besides, there might be little pups nearby." he said, knowing a certain little pup and his mother. Helix stood and looked at the fae, "But since you are asking so nicely," that was a lie, "I can answer you question, if you promise you won't go running to your poor little alpha about me- or anyone else for that matter of fact." he said as he took a step closer to Octavia, soon to circle around her. Yes, he knew he shouldn't mess with a pack wolf- but he wasn't going to attack her- no. Unless she attacked first, then yes, he would.

"Oh..okay...you promise...right?" he whispered before bringing his attention back to Aria as the beta had apologized to her. Why did she call her alpha? didn't she have a name? or was her name alpha? Rocco decided not to ask as the two were conversing. His mind trailed away from the two wolves until the alpha reassured him that he wasn't going to be eaten. which was good...right? "gamma? will they really?" he asked as he cocked his head to the side again, his tail thumping against the ground as he tried to take a guess at what gammas were.
