Anise helps a little, but mostly, the other wolves took down the bear. Finally, she scrambled back until she was on the fringes of the group. Part of her wanted to go forward to dig into the bear, but her pack-instincts warned that these wolves might be hostile. if they didn't want her in the pack, they wouldn't let her eat. And she would gladly be at the bottom of the hierarchy if needed. Shifting nervously from foot to foot, still in a half crouch, the small wolf noticed another wolf creeping up. Her tail started wagging in greeting, but she was sure it wasn't her place to say anything. She, after all, wasn't even sure she was accepted.
It was strange. She hadn't seen a living soul for days, and now here was a huge group of wolves....
She stayed like that for a while, but eventually slunk out to the bear. She started digging into a haunch. The bear tasted sour, but a starving wolf isn't picky, and she happily dug in. In the back of her mind, she promised to try and not eat bear again. If things got better, she would promise to never eat it again. It felt wrong to eat another predator, the taste was all wrong. Anise continued to eat, eyes closed as she savored the feeling of a filling belly.

Kalia's eyes softed in concern as Eclipse's voice broke. "Well, let's hope we can find a warm place, and we can all survive if we work together." She said, hoping she was comforting. She looked to see Anise eating the bear meat, and wondered why she had not said anything at all since she had come here.

Nakalla shook her head slightly. "I'm going to go eat." She said. "We need to sort all this hate out." Nakalla trotted back over to the den. How many of us are there? she thought longingly. Nakalla sucked up her fear of starvation and raised her voice. "Since we're all here, let me explain something I learned a long time ago. I had ten siblings. Our parents died... none of us knew how because all we could smell from the inside of our den was smoke and burning grass. I was the youngest one, but they all looked up to me... No, I wasn't ready, and the reason I am with none of them now is because we didn't take care of each other. I want to propose something with all of you. We travel, steadfast, until we hit any kind of greenery that shows signs of spring. If any wolf gets injured, there is no leaving behind. We all take care of each other. No one will be left to die. Does anyone agree?" Nakalla wasn't trying to force a rule upon these new wolves, but she knew that if they all didn't figure out a plan, they'd be wolfsicles before the week was over.

Fae I Coal Black I Listening to Nakalla I

Eclipse gave a weary smile in reply to Kalia. She then looked over at Nakalla who began talking to everyone. She was talking about heading out to find signs of spring. Eclipse nodded her head in agreement to the words that Nakalla spoke. Was Nakalla the leader of this small pack? Eclipse noticed that she took control of situations like these. She looked over at a brownish black wolf gnawing on the bear carcass. She wondered what her story was, considering, everyone has a story.

Kalia looked worriedly at Nakalla, knowing she couldn't run, walk, or even stand up for now. She was eating like there was no other time to because, she knew, her blood was growing lesser and lesser every second. She shook with loss of energy and gulped down another hunk of bear meat, tentatively standing up a bit. The blood on her wounds finally clotted, but they were so easy to reopen that the thought of a long walk out in the cold made her whimper. She returned a nervous smile to Nakalla and Eclipse, but couldn't help but wonder if this was Nakalla's way of getting rid of her. Let's just hope it's because she cares about us all, Kalia thought.

Fae I Coal Black I Eating I

Eclipse took another bite of the meat and looked up at Kalia who seemed worried.
Eclipse noticed Kalia's wounds and knew that the traveling would be harsh on her. She looked at Kalia and asked, "Has anyone treated your wounds? " Eclipse remembered of some herbs that stopped the bleeding of cuts. She just didn't know if they grew in such freezing weather.

Kalia looked at her, curious. "No, why? I figured I'd just let it heal by itself. I know nothing about healing. Mostly just fighting, hunting, keeping myself alive, and things like that." She said, still half standing and half resting.

Anise consumed as much as she dared, then started to retreat back behind the small den. Before she got to far, one of the wolves started talking. She turned and stared at the wolf, Nakalla? and listened. It was the best plan they could hope for, and she would gladly stay with these other wolves. She didn't say anything, but they could count her in, if they wanted to. She sat even though the cold snow was painful on her skin. She stared at the wolf until she was quiet, then slowly stood once more. No one would be left behind, Nakalla had said, and there was a wolf among the group who had a big wound. Anise had some ideas how to help. She began a slow walk in their direction. The snow here was trampled and dirty, which wouldn't help. She swerved off course, grabbed a mouthful of clean snow, and walked toward the wounded wolf and the wolf by her. She inched the last few feet and wagged her tail. "Snow and pressure should help." She interrupted around her mouthful. The snow would help numb it and clean it out (o telling how dirty that bear had been) and pressing paws against the wound would help close it and stop the blood from flowing. Anise had learned a couple things in her journey. She got hurt a lot, and she didn't have time to let them heal on their own. She waited. She would only help if the wounded wolf wanted help.

Eclipse shook her head in reply, "It's going to get infected if not treated.." She looked up at the gloomy sky and then back to Kalia. "I know of an herb that can prevent infection and stop the bleeding. It's very useful and my former pack used it whenever there were injures as bad as yours." She motioned her tail to her wounds.
"There were never any problems in the winter...so I don't know if the herb still grows in wintertime." She looked down at her paws then up at her again. "I would be more then happy to go and search for it though. If it means that you'll be able to walk when we have to go on our journey." She stood up.

Nakalla smiled. "We will leave here once Kalia and the rest of us are all feeling better." She tucked herself in next to Kalia. "Hmmm..." She sniffed it. "Well, it's not infected, so that's good. And smart idea, Anise." She let Kalia respond to that. Then Nakalla turned to Eclipse. "The herb, I do believe, is either burdock root or marigold leaf. Burdock grows around here, but not marigold. Burdock will do." Nakalla started nosing around, and after a few minutes she pulled up a small, brown plant. She put it in her mouth and chewed it to a pulp. "Ochay," She said, her voice muffled by burdock, "Kaffia, dis should heff wiff da iffeshun." She spit them out. "I mean, these should help with any infection that manages to get into that wound from here on out."
