miska // lead dog //female // tags - the whole team // setting - in the race
the race had been long and treacherous. incomparable to anything miska had ever experienced, and it wasn't even over yet.
but she was proud of the team this far, they had pushed and pulled until they had finally made it through that last storm. the loud blaring of wind and the blinding of snow had concluded, at least for the moment, and miska could start to make out the yells of her sled mates. her pace didn't slow, even though a couple things concerned her; the lightness of the sled, the silence from her musher,
and the cries of the dogs behind her. in a situation like this, you don't think anything at all. miska hadn't put the pieces together until the sight of the empty sled behind her did it for her. ROME, EVERYONE, STOP! miska yelled as loudly as her lungs could manage. she slowed her steps giving the team time to slow as well before padding into a stop. this doesn't make any sense. she thought to herself. oh my god... she allowed herself a moment of panic before remembering her position. a scared leader doesn't do a pack any good. she wiped any signs of what panic and confusion out of her face and looked towards her lead, rome.

yukon // wheel dog // male // tags - the whole team // setting - in the race
the last storm had been the worst yukon had ever seen in his short life, let alone pulled through. he thanked the heavens for such a strong team. him and his clumsiness nearly stumbled right onto his muzzle multiple times but the husky managed to always catch his footing with only a mere sideways glance from lobo. but as soon as the storm had subsided, much bigger problems appeared. holy sh... he skidded to a stop after lobos first cry. he turned around only to confirm the yells of thirteen and laika. what where they going to do? how were they going to survive? sheer panic overthrew yukon as he glanced toward aisha, looking for some sort of comfort.

Rome
Male
Two Years
Red Husky
Lead Dog
Loc; Race
Tag; Everyone

Out of the fog and into the field of loss. Rome had gotten so used to hearing the yelling of the crowd around him and the dogs behind him that he almost didn't hear the change of tone in their voices from happiness and determination to sheer terror and concern. Rome whipped his head over his shoulder in time to see the sled being pulled out of the fog, completely empty of everything. Rome slid to a dead stop, slipping over the sleek snow and nearly falling over. Rome's ears laid flat against his skull, bright blue eyes wide with sadness and his mouth still slightly agape and panting lightly.
"He's gone." "We can't go back, can we?" "This is horrible." All the words from the other dogs were nothing but whispers blowing past his ears with the wind as he stared. His musher, caregiver, his father. Gone? This can't be, there's no way. Rome whined, sniffing the air hopelessly for any trace of a scent. Nothing. They could go back, it's not like they're not already disqualified. But who knows where he could've gone, probably through the ice miles back and frozen to death at this point. Rome waved his tail nervously back and forth, although it was still hanging low. He looked to Miska for half a second, before lowering his head staring at the ground. Stupid snow...
what?

Cody | Male | 4 years old | team dog

Checking his stride when he saw Thirteen stumble, Cody frowned, wondering what was wrong. As the cries of his teammates rose around him however, he glanced over his shoulder. Frozen to the spot be the sight of the empty sled, he was unable to speak for several minutes, shocked by the loss of their musher. He looked immediately to Rome, them Miska, unsure what to do. Finally deciding that something had to be decided on, he called up to the leads, “Rome, Miska, what should we do? Should we go back? The race is lost anyway. If there is any chance that he is still alive we have to turn around and find him quickly. Humans aren’t good at surviving in weather like this."

Diana | Female | 3 years old | team dog

Ears pinned to her head, Diana, whimpered a little as she realized that her musher, their guidance and safety, was gone. What would they do now? They were stuck in the middle of no where, no musher to show them where to go, no idea where the nearest humans or other dogs were. As Cody shouted up, she forced herself to listen, ignoring the panic rising inside her as she focused on his words. Oh god, their musher could be dead, or dying. Right now. What could they do? Was there anything a team of sled dogs could do without their musher?

[ saghani ] [ six years of age ] [ swing dog ] [ no tags ]

Ebony feet pounded the snowy ground. Lungs strained to breath chilly air that became a cloud of crystals once it meet the icy air. Ears flicked the powder as it was kicked up in the air by the lead dogs in front of her. Walnut eyes scanned the trees around, looking for danger. The heavy snow that had had her eyes virtually useless had finally dissipated and now what was left was the sound of crunching snow, panting dogs feet that sounded like horses. Realizing this her mind focused on one noise she did not hear. Upon hearing the wheel dog lobo call out that they're alone her eyes without command shot back to see an empty sled gliding effortlessly over the snowy ground. Her heart sunk in her chest and her feet stopped its rhythmic drumming. The scent of panic contaminated the air and suddenly it felt toxic to breath. She looked at the other dogs who too, seemed panicked. shock glued her feet to the ground and her muscles stood frozen as of the weather had done it. One dog said they shouldn't go back, another said they should continue. Chances were that the musher was dead why else would he fall off. He was experienced and should know to call out for the dogs. He would know how to hold onto the sled during a storm and what to do to stay on. After what felt like an hour of contemplating saghani snapped back into reality. "I agree,we should go find him, even if he is dead the humans would want his body back." She spoke in a calm tone, continuing to panic would do no good for anyone, especially when its the eldest dog on the team. It was true, she had not been in a situation like this before but there was a first time for everything. Even if they couldn't find the musher there was a chance they would find another team further behind them who would then help. Her feet shifted in the snow nervous and her ears carefully listened to the others who spoke, even when in it was within their own ranks.

        LARK.
      [ female. ] • [ siberian husky x gsd. ] • [ team dog 11. ] • [ tags; open ]
      ─────────────────────────
Lark had been set into a rhythmic pace of mindless running blind, along with the others on the team. The thick, icy flakes of snow had came down in torrents for who knows how long, so it came to a slight surprise that their was a sudden stop to it. The cold still piercing through her silky coat, though she was slightly relieved that the team didn't have to be charging forwards into the white oblivion now. However, that relief didn't last long. The cries of her teammates blared in her ears, and her blue eyes scanned around to see the havoc. As the voice of another caught her ear, her eyes widened at what they said. The musher is gone? She thought, trying not to get tangled in other paws as the movements of the team became less organized. Her blue eyes traced back to the leads, seeing if they had any idea of what to do.
