Evergreen Parks Equine Education Institute

The Evergreen Parks Equine Education Institute was created to provide a quality education on equine management, riding, breeding and health. The school is open to all students from ages 18 to 23 years of age. Evergreen Parks is located in the heart of horse country, Kentucky. Students can take courses while expanding their riding abilities and competing.

The stables are organized so that every stall has a small outside area connected to the stall. There are three large pastures with fences that cannot be jumped. There is also one small pasture for stallion turn out. Evergreen Parks has two indoor arenas, five outdoor arenas, a small race-track, and a polo field. A small pasture with a few head of cattle is also here for those who participate in cattle events.

One large building next to the stable holds all the classes. Courses are divided up in Monday/ Wednesday classes and Tuedsday/Thursday Classes. Fridays are used for practical work and team training.

The living quarters are co-ed and students are allowed to intermingle as they are considered adults. Each students gets and individual room and bathroom to decorate as they please. There is one large living room and kitchen area that is shared.

---criteria and techniques for evaluation of horses and development of logical decision process for selecting horses for events. Students will participate in the judging team.
10. Equine Sales Production
---emphasis of skills necessary to host and evaluate equine sales.
11. Equine Anatomy and Physiology
---basic concepts of equine anatomy and physiology with and emphasis on growth, digestion, and reproduction.
12. Equine Nutrition
---principles of nutrition including the application in feeding horses a different physiological states to promote health and wellness.
13. Equine Reproduction and Genetics
---Principles of reproduction and reproductive management of mares and stallion. Applications of genetic principles for understanding quantitative and qualitative traits in horses. Emphasis on improving genetics of breeds.
14. Foal Management and Training
---Management of a foaling mare, newborn foal care, preventative and emergency care, and foal training up to yearling age. Students will work each work with a foal from birth to sell at yearling age.
15. Introduction to Farrier Skills
--- an introduction to skills required to become a farrier with practical work in hoof care.
16. Equine Diseases
---normal and abnormal body signs and functions of major systems in horses. Students will recognize main diseases, causes, prevention, and treatments for diseases.
17. Equine Business Management
--- real life equine industry experience and the ins and outs of managing an equine facility or business.
18. Introduction to Coaching
---teaching techniques, theory, handling of large mounted groups for beginner through advanced levels. Students will volunteer at a local riding school for young students weekly.
19. Training Horses for Racing
---develops skills to train horses in racing.
20. Horse Veterinary Care
---an introduction to equine veterinary care and first-aide procedure.
21. Equine Rehabilitation
---techniques to help rehabilitate horses both physically and mentally. Students will work with mustangs in order to gentle and train them to be resold to families.

Roleplay Rules

7. Please Don't have everyone be freshman or everyone be English or everyone take the same classes. Try to diversify things up. I need a mix of everything for this school.
Evergreen Parks Rules
1. Students must take care of their animals every day and any student found neglecting their horses will be immediately expelled and their horses confiscated.
2. Indiviudals are allowed to bring 3 horses to the stable.
3. Breeding is allowed with a written agreement from both owners.
4. Students must keep their living areas clean and tidy.
5. Students can take a max of four courses a semester.
6. Students who begin to fall behind in classes must attend tutoring sessions.
7. Those who begin to fail classes will be required to leave their equestrian teams until their grades return to a C or better.

Opening Plot

Students are just beginning to arrive onto campus this early Saturday morning on August 1st. Old students are mingling among friends and new students are getting acquainted. Coaches are assisting with getting the horses settled and taking care of barn horses. Teachers are acting as guides for the freshman. Students are to get their horses settled first and then move their belonging into their rooms. This evening will be a night of team member bonding and trial riding.

Kami’s hands where shaking when she pulled back on campus for another school year. Ruth rode shotgun, and behind her she pulled the trailer with her three small ponies. Without Ruth doing this on her own would have been in possible, Ruth was her sidekick at pretty much all times, if not she was tethered nearby or on her cot, placed in a stall or out of the way. She had grand plans this year to ride her boy Hugs, but it had been a fair bit since she had sat on a horse. Kami pulled to a stop and put the truck in park. Step one was to get ruth, then it was to unload her ponies, hopefully by then her friend who offered to move her carts back over would be there with them and her stuff for her room. There was a number of people both students and staff bustling around she was thankful she felt ok and didn’t need help. Kami bite her lip as she went around to the side of her rig, she didn’t have a vest handy she had been so focused on the horses she had packed them all in her back seat somewhere near the bottom of it. Oh well Ruth had her collar with the bold lettering and a leash with a warp, it would have to do and she would have to hope none of her worst issues flared. She let the poodle jump down and look around, “Ruth lets get the ponies.” The fluffy cream dog clearly was in need of a clip but for now Kami ignored it and the headed around to the back of the trailer, the dog stepped behind her to block as she lowered the ramp. The Shetlands where loaded first and that meant flirty boy was up first. She laughed at his nickered greeting, “Hi Flirt.” She said as she unclipped the rope and lead him down. He looked great after his short ride.

The bitter-sweet taste of early morning air hit Nathan as he lowered the slant-load trailers ramp, allowing it to float on to the ground as he stepped up into the metal box. A loving hand was placed on Tyche's rump, he had brought this mare with him for the past few years and they had done well together; his coach deemed them a team and he knew they would do well again this year but he feared that Odin would take too much of his time and he would lose that connection he had with his red mare. This mare was his heart-horse and he hated to idea of putting her on the back burner for a up and coming gelding. A gelding he didn't feel he really even loved despite the history they had together; Tyche was the love of his life and Odin was merely her flighty half brother. They shared a sire.
Quietly the young man pulled the slipknot in the crimson lead rope undone and asked the mare to rock back on her hind end before stepping out and allowing her to follow him onto solid ground. Yawning he praised her, "Good girl, bub.", calling the chestnut mare one of her many pet-names as he rubbed her neck with one hand, tracing the red cotton of her rug before asking her to move forward so he could tie her to some bailing twine on the side of the float. Nathan gave two solid pats on her shoulder with a cupped hand before making his way back inside the trailer, pulling the pin out of the divider and pushing it against the left side of the trailer before approaching the standard bay Odin. "Thats a good lad, Oddy." he comforted the gelding as he turned him to lead him into the morning breeze with a firm grip on his faded crimson lead rope. He, Odin, had been given Tyche's hand-me-downs (mostly as an excuse for him to buy his girl some new tack) and it was clear to tell who was the favourite as he walked into the light with his stained yellow travel boots, faded halter and lead, and equally faded crimson rug. As he was tied alongside his sister with her grand appearance and vibrant crimson travel gear, it was even clearer.

"Looking good Osiris, looking good." she whispered as she pulled the mesh flysheet off her gelding and hung it across the stall door. The pair had arrived a tad early and she had hunted down someone who could tell her the stall and paddock assignments before they got her so she could have the smoothest transition possible. Her main priority was her gelding, so before she could think of anything else she filled a haynet, topped up the water bucket, hung Osiris's mirror and toys and settled him in like good good horse-mum she was. Osiris was her entire life but she knew deep down he wasn't cut out to compete at the level she wanted to, so secretly she was on the hunt for another Polo horse. At the moment she was just browsing, getting an idea of what she was looking for, gathering estimates of prices but that was the issue, the prices. A good Polo horse would cost her an arm and a leg, a great one would cost her her entire life savings and then some.
So for now her dreams remained as much. "Okay bud, settle yourself in and i'll be back after I unpack the car." she informed him as if he knew exactly what she was saying; she planted a kiss on his nose before leaving him to his own devices.
