Jack was suddenly pulled out of his thoughts when he heard the sound of galloping hooves on the courtyard. Frowning, he looked out the window, only to see the fading shapes of Emerald and Arrowin through the trees.
"Where are they going?" he thought to himself, looking round the room once more "Well, I might as well go after them" Shaking his head, he sheathed his sword and pulled his boots on before slowly walking down the stairs.
Jack was rather relieved to see that Frank was drunk, and obviously hadn't noticed his presence. With a smile, he made his way out the doorway, catching his horse and putting the bridle on her carefully before mounting. Geal whinnied and tossed her head, eager to get going, so Jack let her have her lead, galloping around the trees in no particular direction. After a while, he made her halt, and dismounted till he found a path that led to the village. He mounted again, and before long he saw a gathering of people ahead. The mare's hooves thudded on the ground as they approached, and suddenly Jack realised what had happened: The dead body of Rebecca, lying on the back of Arrowin's horse. And as the crowd broke up, he saw Guy, that evil villain that tormented the villagers, on the floor, dead. He closed his eyes at the sight of it and looked away, not wanting to see the two dead people, especially Rebecca. All she had been doing was taking food to the villagers, and this is how she had to die? His hand tightened round the hilt of his sword, but suddenly he heard the sound of footsteps and clanking metal behind. Looking round, he saw five or six guards, who had obviously just learnt what had happened and were coming towards them. Unsheathing his sword, Jack looked at the two other outlaws, warning them of the enemy's presence, and then charged, cutting the first guard's head off in one stroke. He gulped at the sight, but didn't tarry, as another guard came towards him. The sword sunk in the man's chest, making Jack frown pitifully and hope that the others would kill the rest.

Arowin nodded to Emerald after watching the fight. "Your hurt, ride straight onto the hide out." she said and then spun round at Jack's shout. What in the world was her doing here, well fighting off guards for one. Arowin shot down the guards nearest to Jack and then ran forward and swiftly silenced the others with her dagger. She turned to Jack and gave him a nod of thanks. He would be a fine addition to the Hood, even if she wouldn't admit it. "Let's go." she said grabbing Ace's reins and leading the horse out of the village at a walk. She glanced back at Rebecca's body and then looked away quickly with a stony face. Rebecca had never fought the guards, never been on one raid but rather stayed and kept the hide out. She would hunt but was always so sad about killing the stupid deer half the time.

Jack nodded back at Arrowin and followed, Geal whinnying shrilly and trotting along the path. He looked at Emerald with a frown, seeing that she was injured, but shook his head slightly and focused on finding his way back to the hideout. He couldn't help thinking about Rebecca and her horrible fate. Out of all the Hood, she had seemed the nicest, and she had to die? Jack frowned sadly, glancing around the woods.

Emerald nodded to Arrowin when she told her to ride off. But why was she going to stay back? Then her eyes landed on Jack and she frowned. What on earth was he doing here? Emerald just bit her lip and trotted off to the forest's edge, waiting for the other two before continuing on. "What the h*ll are you doing here?" she asked quietly. "If you're not invited, don't come. You could of gotten yourself killed." She was quite grateful that he came though, and she frowned. "I'm sorry, Jack. I didn't mean it. Just...just ignore me I'm not feeling well." She then looked over to Arrowin. "To the crypt?" she asked.

Jack turned as he saw Emerald approaching "I know how to defend myself very well, thank you" he said at her first sentence, and then fell quiet when she apologised. "It's fine, I understand" he said with a sigh. He had guessed that Guy was her father, as they looked quite alike, and shuddered at the thought of how she must feel. However evil he was, she was probably feeling much worse than unwell after killing her own father, and seeing Rebecca die.
