What took her aback most was the stranger's voice. Their voice carried such a gentle cadence that Maggie found herself a little pinker in the cheeks after they'd finished speaking. That was also partly because they mentioned that her dresses had inspired them, which was something that Maggie received through comments on the Internet, but to hear it in person made her heart leap. Inspiring other creatives was something that she didn't realize her designs were able to do.

"Yes, I'm the designer," she replied, her voice carrying a tone of bashfulness, despite her outwardly confident appearance. "It's honestly quite inspiring to me to hear that my dresses have inspired you. I'm Magnolia Ideus. It's a pleasure to meet you." She offered her hand out to the other, a shy grin creeping onto her lips. "Please, feel free to take as many pictures as you like. I trust that they'll help out the writing process if you have a visual aide to go by."

Just as the stranger had wandering thoughts of destiny or fate, the same thoughts rolled through Magnolia's mind. Who would have thought she would encounter the same person she'd thrown a little flirt at back at the coffee shop? Maybe it was more likely than she thought, but she visited that same cafe frequently and had never really noticed this person. Knowing that they were an author made Maggie's heart skip a beat even more. She loved people who had a way with words, and felt awfully inquisitive to read some of this stranger's work.

Not that she'd ask yet, of course. Maybe she could tie it into conversation and let this person serenade her with some well-written novel snippets.

Lennon watched as Dominic glanced towards the nearby cafe. While the smells were nice and all, he wanted to see if Dominic had an actual idea in mind, or if he'd take the easy way out and just choose the nearby options. While Lennon wouldn't have minded, of course, he was pleased when Dom suggested something else. Patchanka.

"I hope it's as good as you make it out to be," Lennon teased, glancing at the other man with a small smirk. He walked next to Dom in their comfortable side-by-side stride, taking in the warm sun on his skin and the natural sounds of the city. While Lennon wasn't really a people person, and he was never one to trust a stranger so easily as to go out to lunch with them upon just meeting, he felt awfully content for how introverted he tended to be on a normal day. And the fact that painting wasn't the very first thing on his mind? Pretty impressive of Dominic, actually.

Lennon's smile grew a little upon hearing the second remark. He had to agree with him there. The smell of food on the air was always dangerous to those with hungry stomachs, and at the moment, the two men were most at risk. Lennon didn't know if he was more excited to eat or to spend time with the photographer.

When they arrived, he wasn't sure if the outside was the prettiest storefront in Paris, but if what Dom said was true, Lennon couldn't be more excited to dig in to some good food.

"Let's see if this lives up to its grand reviews," he said in a teasing tone once again, enjoying the feeling of letting himself be a little more carefree around a new acquaintance for once. Dominic made him feel like he could loosen up. It felt like a weight off of Lennon's shoulders.

"For the record, I've been here once," Dominic admitted, giving Lennon a cheeky grin. "So, I technically can't be blamed if it's not that great." He shrugged, tightening the strap around his neck so he could put his hands in his jacket pockets. Now he couldn't have to worry about the camera flinging around...for now. The strap he had was odd and would loosen from time to time; but for now it should hold. At least until they could sit down and he could put it aside.

As they made it to the restaurant, Dominic swooped along side Lennon to get the door, opening it for him. "After you," He chuckled, holding the door. Was he trying to show off a little bit? ...Maybe. "And see we shall!" He hummed, walking in after Lennon and eyeing the decor. Hadn't changed a bit since he arrived in Paris; but it was still nice.

Dominic leaned over Lennon's shoulder a bit, his voice a bit low. "Let's catch a corner table before anyone else," With that being said, he leaned back up, straightening his posture a bit as he flashed another charming smile. He always had such a playful and flirty spirit; but with Lennon it seemed like he cranked it up a bit. Of course, he wasn't overly flirtatious in fear of scaring Lennon off, but he was doing his best to impress him. And he wasn't sure why.

"Koki is so pretty," Anny giggled a bit, brushing a strand of brown hair behind her ear. "Forgive me if this sounds rude, but what type of service dog is Koki?" She questioned in a softer tone, not wanting to offend the red-head by asking such a question. "Is she emotional support, or...? Uh, s-sorry if it's dumb." She scratched her arm nervously. "I'm just curious."

Anny felt a bit dumb asking that. She hoped she didn't make the situation awkward...she wasn't too keen on socializing; but she was actually trying this time! Hopefully, that counted for something.

Kendall Howard|Nonbinary|22|bisexual|tag(s): Maggie

Their warm, light smile didn't waver as they listened to the young woman, and saw her reaction to what they said. Goodness, they'd only told the truth. But something told them that no one had said anything line they'd said to her before... at least, not like this. And to find out what she was indeed the designer made them feel much better that they'd come in to ask. A local designer, with local designs... it was much better than something mass-produced.

"That is wonderful to know." Kendall replied, and then shook the young woman's proffered hand - who they now knew as Magnolia Ideus. They decided to commit that name to memory. They would need to in order to write her name into their acknowledgements for the novel. "My name is Kendall Howard. And I thank you for the permission, I will be sure to include your name in my acknowledgements." Kendall introduced themselves, and then withdrew their hand, and took their phone out from their bag, opening the camera app.
They were going to just turn and take a few photos, but... well, they had another idea.
"If... you don't mind, perhaps you could help me pick a dress to photograph? The bride in the novel is an heiress... and not to give away too much, but she wears a ruby and sapphire necklace that is the target of a heist." they explained, rather hoping that Magnolia would be able to suggest something suitable. That... and they hoped it was a subtle enough excuse to just spend a little more time with her.

Merrick Pearce|Transmale|20|bisexual|tag(s): William

Merrick breathed a sigh of relief, although he still felt as though he had been in the way. Hence why he'd moved over to the tree. And also, he was hoping that he'd be able to have something of a conversation with the guy. But he also didn't want to make him uncomfortable, so he decided to stick with staying a fair distance, so he didn't see what the guy was painting.
He was a little confused as to why he asked if he was a dancer, though a quick glance down at his feet told him how the other guy knew. "Oh. Yes, I am. I'm studying ballet here, I'm in my second year at the moment. Though I've also been trained in contemporary dance." Merrick explained.

"My name's Merrick Pearce, by the way." he added, to introduce himself. "You're clearly an artist, aren't you? What sort of paints do you normally use?" he asked, rather curious.

When the stranger- now the stranger who had a name, Kendall- told her that her name would be in the acknowledgements, Maggie seemed to visibly glow as a huge grin overtook her lips. The fact that this had started out as a normal day and now an author was in her shop asking for inspiration and her name would appear on one little page of a novel... No matter how small the acknowledgement was, it felt too good to be true. The dilemma with social media was that while anyone could say happy words of encouragement, it felt so hollow without someone behind them. Now that Kendall was here, Maggie felt so much different.

        She felt more whole.

When Kendall suggested that she pick out a dress for them to photograph, Maggie seemed to appear even more excited, if that were even possible. "An heiress? And a heist for a necklace? Sounds like an interesting read," she replied, hands clasped in front of herself. "What happens at the end?" She paused. "No, don't tell me. If I'm in the acknowledgements, I want to read it for myself." She chuckled before turning around on her heels, making her way towards one of the many racks in the store and gesturing for Kendall to follow. "Of course I'll help you find something- that's what I'm here for!"

Magnolia began searching through the rack of delicate white dresses, some more extravagant with layers of tulle and some more fitting with smooth silk that clung to the wearer's body in a glamorous fashion. Every single one was her pride and joy. Unless one style was in high demand, she tried to make every idea original, or at least slightly altered from the others of her same styles. Since not many customers came in, she had plenty of time to brainstorm.

"So, did you have any ideas in mind? I've got lots of dresses, as you can see," she said, turning to Kendall from the rack. "Were you thinking something more ball gown style? Slim fitting? Sleeves or no sleeves? I can find something that's as close to your imagination as you like, or..." She thought for a moment, "I could really even alter one of these to fit your vision perfectly. It'd take a day or so, but I would do it. This is a big deal to me!" The smile on her face was radiant; this opportunity was one that the small-business owner hadn't had before, so she was thrilled to do whatever it took for Kendall.

When Dom went as far as to hold the door for him, Lennon couldn't hide the shy smile and the blush that rose upon his cheekbones; Lennon definitely missed some cues when it came to flirting, but these intentions felt rather clear. Was Dominic serious about all this, or was he just a charming, flirty guy who acted this way to anyone he met? The anxiety returned, speaking words of "what if's" and "you're taking this the wrong way" into Lennon's ears. He couldn't help it; even though he felt that Dom's intentions were kind, there was always that hidden monster in the back of Lennon's head telling him that this wasn't right and that he should just go back home.

He ignored it, no matter how much he wanted to believe the words. After all, the presence of Dominic leaning just over his shoulder and murmuring into his ear was enough to shatter that mindset completely. Of course, Lennon's cheeks grew even darker. "Right behind you," he answered, still trying to hide the shy waver behind his voice. What happened to that unabashed flirtatiousness? He pleaded for it to return and for his cheeks to fade. Being the competitive type, Lennon wanted to win these flirtation games.

He followed Dominic to a corner table, sliding into the seat across from the other man. Lennon locked eyes with Dom and couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest. The butterflies were back, and they weren't showing mercy.

"So, what did you get here the one time you came?" Lennon asked after a waitress brought over a pair of menus. "I'll say, though- I'm not a big breakfast or brunch person, but their waffles look like they're to die for." He wasn't lying; the menu's pictures of waffles dressed up with syrup, blueberries, and a hearty dollop of whipped cream made Lennon's mouth water.

Kendall Howard|Nonbinary|22|bisexual|tag(s): Maggie

Not that it would have been difficult, but today was definitely gearing up to be much more eventful than they'd expected... than they'd experienced since arriving in Paris and moving into their apartment. Discovering a new cafe or shop was a regular occurrence for them. But meeting someone new, someone who was inspiring even a small part of their novel, and was clearly so willing to help out... and practically glowing at what they'd said, and furthermore, was the very person that they'd locked eyes with not that long previously, neither probably thinking much of the encounter... that in itself was inspiring to them. Maybe if they wrote something lighter after their current novel, or as a side project of sorts, they'd definitely keep it in mind. Even if they never saw Magnolia after today... though they secretly hoped this wouldn't be the case.

They nodded in confirmation of the details that they'd mentioned, then softly laughed as they were asked what happened at the end. "Don't worry. I won't tell you." Kendall assured, and made a mental note to be sure to send a signed copy, once it was published. Or even just drop it off themselves, if they were still in Paris on release day. They hoped that they would. Be. They were pleased Magnolia agreed to help find a suitable dress, and followed the dressmaker, looking in awe at all the various dresses, all of them so different.

They listened carefully to Magnolia, considering what they would be looking for, though they were surprised that she would be willing to alter a dress to fit their vision. "Hmm... ball gown style, for sure. The heiress is the sort to go big. With sleeves... and a low neck, to show off the necklace." Kendall explained, after a few moments of thinking about it. "I... wouldn't want to take up too much of your time, though. Or I will just have to thank you in an additional way."

Dominic gently sat his camera down as he sat in a chair; at least now he won't have to worry about it flailing. In a swift motion, he grabbed the menu and began looking; maybe he'll try something different this time. "Hm? Oh, I had something equivalent to a baked potato," He chuckled softly, resting his chin in the palm of his hand as he sat down the menu. "Then again, I came around when it was a little later in the day," he shrugged, contemplating on what he should order. Maybe he would get some waffles this time around; It sounded delicious enough to satisfy his taste buds.

"So, Lennon," Dom began, looking at Lennon through slightly hooded eyes, the coy grin on his face returning. "How good are you at small talk?" He questioned, blowing a small strand of his own curly hair from his face. "Cause I'm downright garbage at it," He laughed, leaning back in his chair, letting his hand drop from his face. He crossed one leg over his other, rolling back his shoulders a bit. It was true; Dominic wasn't quite so good with small talk; in fact, he didn't much like it. He was more of a 'get to the point' kind of guy; Blunt and Straightforward.

"With that said, you seemed quite worried about my camera before; Are you also a photographer? Or someone with a creative mind of the like?"

Thank you very much,” she said with a small nod, smiling a bit. “Oh, he’s a boy. He’s for panic attacks...” she trailed off, then shook her head a bit. She offered a gentle little smile to the brown haired girl then. She shook her head again.

It’s okay to be curious,” she said with another sweet little smile. The black dog looked up at them again. He then focused on his girl, making sure she was alright, as was his job.

He looked up when the guy breathed a sigh of relief, and bear chuckled to himself, but actually stopped himself. He smiled and continued to hum quietly then, dipping his head back down and shaking it a bit. He stopped humming a moment as he seemed to be thinking on something, then he shook his head and continued on painting the scene.

He said “That’s very cool, seriously though. Contemporary dance sounds interesting, actually. Um... My name is William Speare. Nice to meet you, Merrick. Oh, yes, I am an artist. I use...” he trailed off to take a breath. ”I use oils usually. I also use Watercolor,” he said with a nod.

Maggie listened intently to the description Kendall gave her for the dress in their vision. Honestly, the dressmaker felt no shame about straight up offering to make alterations to a random dress for Kendall. The fact that they were so inspired by just the window displays was amazing to her. She'd do practically anything to help them out after the things they said to her.

"Ball gown, sleeves, low neckline," Magnolia murmured, speaking to herself as she tried remembering if she had one that followed that description. She paused for a few moments, as if in her own little world, murmuring a few words all the while, and then she started trailing her fingers along that rack, moving to the next. She pulled out one dress that she thought fit the bill, but put it back, thinking that one wasn't glam enough. Then another- no, that one's neckline wasn't it. She wanted this to be perfect for Kendall. Maggie was never one to disappoint in the first place.

Finally, she came to the third rack and yanked out a huge dress, yards and yards of tulle creating a poofy skirt and train; this was her perfect ball gown, and it was definitely meant for a bride who could suit its big personality. However, there was one issue. She held it up, observing its each and every detail- it had the neckline, the sleeves, and the shape- but something was missing.

"This is what I had in mind, but..." Maggie trailed off, totally lost in her own work and her own mind. "It doesn't feel ornate enough." She turned to Kendall, broken from her seamstress trance. "If you give me a day or so, I can slap a ton of crystals on here, and add some beading to make it more royal. I insist, truly. If it'll give you the best vision, I want to do it. No cost."

Lennon grinned from behind his menu, giving the occasional glance at Dom as they browsed the food options. However, Dom caught him staring when he looked up at him with that coy grin that was enough to make heat stir in Lennon's cheeks for the billionth time that hour, it felt like. The question took him a little off guard, but hearing Dom's follow-up response felt a little less daunting. Lennon didn't consider himself all too great at small talk either.

"I have to say, I absolutely agree with you there," he answered. "I usually don't get this far with talking to strangers who bump into me on the street." Lennon's expression returned to a sly grin, his own version of the coyness that Dominic exuded. "But, really, I like a deep conversation. Talking about the weather feels meaningless to me."

Upon the second question, he felt a little embarrassed to answer. Painting was the most private part of Lennon's life, yet it was the part that took up most of his time. Art was the only way he could get his true emotions out; aside from time spent in front of a canvas, he locked away his deeper thoughts for later days. There were plenty of days where he had breakdowns and could only make himself paint.

Was that a sad way to live?

"Um... I'm a creative, I guess, yeah," Lennon replied, his smile fading as he stared somewhat blankly into the menu. "I paint. It's like my therapy, my career, and my passion all in one." He looked up at Dom to observe the look on the other's face, fearing he'd see judgement or pity. "I moved to Paris because someone bought one of my paintings and I just wanted to get away from home. No one really supported me there."

The waitress approached their table, and Lennon thanked the heavens for sending someone so he didn't accidentally overshare.

"I'll take just a water to drink and the blueberry waffles, please," he ordered politely, folding his menu shut in front of him. Feeling cheeky, he gave a little kick to Dom's shin under the table. "What'll it be for you, Nicci?"
