❝ lucas seo // senior (18) // english class - hallway // tags: connor ❞
Hey, getting a bit snappy with that unnamed girl was definitely not his proudest moment, he tried not to be rude for no reason but it's - like Connor said, there's an exception to every rule, right? His exception is when people decide to shatter the conversation he was holding with his not-so-secret crush. Then Lucas doesn't have much patience for being kind, you can't make friends with everybody, after all, he used to try to but he's also learned the reality of it by now. He isn't particularly afraid of someone disliking him, but he is afraid of someone important enough disliking him and ruining his reputation. Not that such a thing happens often, once you're in with the popular kids you usually stay that way, but just maybe he's slightly paranoid he'll suddenly be disliked by the entire student body. Like the day his own little sister bullies him outside of the house? That's just damn sad. She'll be pushing him into lockers or something before he knows it. That aside, Lucas tries not to let that happen often, being rude to people before they can be rude to him. It doesn't settle well, god knows he'll come back tomorrow and apologize to her.
Oh, thank god Connor actually stands up with him and doesn't make him look like a fool off to go skip class by himself. His shoulders slouch slightly in relief when the boy joins him, though relief turns to surprise when he has to step to the side to avoid being pushed past, barely having the time to spare a glance to the other familiar faces in the classroom before he's rushing along to keep up with Connor. Of course it makes sense, everything would be ruined if they tried to rush out right as the teacher was walking in, like wow that would not be a great first impression - not that skipping classes for the rest of the day is, either, but sometimes you do dumb things to try and impress your crush. Lucas is learning fast that he is no exception to that rule.
When they turn out into the hallway, Lucas stares down both ends of said corridor, it's mainly just a few students still figuring out where to go, a couple of faculty members - honestly, he's not sure why he's acting like he expects to see the principal charging at them right now, it's just a shred of paranoia is all. He looks over to Connor when the boy speaks, though, eyebrows furrowing when his expression molds into feigning insult, "What do you mean 'unexpected'?" it is a very correct assumption to make that the only times Lucas has ever skipped class is when he has it completely planned out a week in advance and already knows who to meet up with and which exit to leave through, and who will rush to open the doors when he comes back and forgets the code to get into the building in the first place. Still, he's not going to let Connor know that, so instead he sips through the straw of his coffee and juts his chin into the air a bit for an added burst of confidence, "You're not the only one who skips class all the time. I've done it before plenty of times before," it's a complete lie, he has skipped yes but he can count the amount of times he's done it on one hand still. Faking sick is another story, he's pretty good at that and his parents are often nice enough to let him stay home, but - he likes the people at school, you know? So it's not like him to not show up a lot during the school year.
