Lily smiled cheerfully and sat back down, promptly setting her purse in her lap. “Thanks a ton!” She started going through her purse, fishing out a can of pepper spray. “Worse comes to worst I’ve got my secret weapon.” She gave a menacing, yet playful expression, shrouded with mystery. Then she leaned back and laughed, already having a good time, despite the grim situation.

Carefully rubbing his arm, sure that there would be a bruise where Lily had grabbed him - at least it wouldn't show up - Luke sat down again, though he was much more tentative. He nodded towards La-Vinci. "I've been told his wife can be a bit of a gossip, so she might let something slip by accident," he explained, feeling more comfortable with the plan. He wasn't quite sure how Lily could be so cheerful and in a good mood, but he chose not to comment on it. It was better to keep focused on what he was going to do.

*La-Vinci took a sip of her water as she thought about her cousin Georgie and the last time she saw her.*

"I know what I'll be doing..." Luke said, quietly, and then he glanced out of the window. He looked forward to the day when all of this would be over, and he got Dani back, safe. He'd definitely be celebrating, that was for sure. But, for now, it looked like he would just have to take things one step at a time. If there was something shady that the police department were hiding, then he was sure that they would find out.

“Alright, meeting over!” Lily announced, at somewhat of a normal volume. She slung her purse on her shoulder and strolled out of the cafe, as confident as she was when she came in. Once she sat in her car, she covered her face, then lifted her hands, revealing a short stream of tears. “Gh... my makeup.”
