Emerald frowned at Ace and hugged the stallion. "It'll be okay big boy." she said softly. She hated seeing a horse like this, especially one she knew so well and one that meant so much to somebody she was close to. She sighed and rubbed his neck. "Frank go get me some water." she said quietly.

Ace slowly sank to the forest floor to help take some pressure off his wound. He squealed again and tossed his head which caused even more pain. He froze and looked up at Emerald in a silent plea for help.

Emerald frowned even more. She was mentally debating weather or not to try and remove the dagger now or try and bring Ace back to the hideout. As he sank to the floor she knew the answer. She quickly collected some more moss and then ran over to Frank. With her dagger she cut some of his shirt, not even bothering to ask, and ran back to Ace. "Sorry! But I still need that water! And if you can go back to the hideout and get me my needle!" she called over her shoulder. She knelt down by Ace, stroked his neck, and sighed to try and calm herself down. "Alright. This will hurt a little but don't freak out, okay?" she said soothingly. She placed the moss in one hand and wrapped her other hand around the dagger. She took a deep breath and very quickly pulled out the knife. She dropped the dagger and placed the moss over the wound and pressed down, hoping to stop the flow of blood.

Ace screamed as the dagger was pulled out and threw his head up and then lay back down breathing hard. His big brown eyes watches Emerald with fright but trust as well.

Emerald cringed when Ace screamed, tears coming to her eyes but she blinked them away. "I'm so sorry." she said shakily. She growled in frustration as the blood soon soaked through the moss. She quickly replaced it and put more pressure on it than before. She held it with one hand and with the other tried to wrap it with the fabric she had taken from Frank's shirt. "It'll be okay big boy. I promise. Just be strong for mommy." she said in a whisper, glancing at Arrowin.

Frank had returned with a canteen of water and poured it onto the wound " keep the pressure on, give me one second" he said suddenly, rushing back to his saddle packs and withdrawing some oil from a small jar, soaking the Dagger in it and lighting it by rubbing two pieces of flint together. He heated the metal and returned to the horse " hold him tight" he ordered darkly as he pressed the searing hot metal onto the wound to close it.

Emerald nodded and sat by Ace's head, stroking his neck and talking soothingly. She looked up at Frank. "Thank you." she said softly before returning to her work of soothing Ace.

Frank smirked "You worry too much" he joked as he removed the cooling blade and wiped it on his shirt,examining the now sealed wound, slightly bald patch left in its place.

Emerald looked at Frank, her eyes widened a little. How could he joke at a time like this? She shook her head, her shock and slight annyoment vanishing quickly. She smiled a little. "I know I know."

"He should be fine as long as Arrowin keeps the wound clean, but he might be lame on that for a bit" he said, transfixed on the knife his voice sounding slightly distant as he spoke before shaking himself in reality " Let's see if he will stand" he suggested,standing near the stallions rump, getting ready to push him to his feet.
