Destiny looked back up at her new friend, and attempted a smile. "Nothing super serious! It's just that.. The third guest room kind of belonged to my oldest sister.." I frown and look down."Im so sorry." I say truly in sorrow for her, I hated that Destiny had gone through such a event through her life. I laugh and the other snowball she throws hits my side, I roll up a few and fling them at her. I smile brightly and shiver a bit even wearing a jacket, but I was not one to easily back away from a challenge or battle. Letting out a battle cry I throw the other few I managed to roll up.

Destiny just gave a small nod, and attempted to smile again. "It's alright. It happened two years ago, and Melissa is in a better place now. That's all that matters, right?" Winter was easily Shane's favorite season. The long, hot days of summer and late spring often wore him down, and made him tired and sluggish, preferring to lounge on the couch all day with the air conditioner on full blast. But winter was something different. Sure it was cold and windy, but it was a good cold and windy. Refreshing. It was like your first sip of water in a glass full of ice cubes. Satisfying. And then there was an added bonus-snow! Did you know every snowflake is different? Shane still couldn't believe that every single snowflake out of the billions he saw was slightly unique from the rest. It's like people, he thought. Similar, yet different. And for a long time, Shane had felt different as well.

Basically, he always knew he was different, and it kind of took a toll on his happiness with himself, until one day in health class the teacher was explaining sexuality. As soon as she said "homosexuality", Shane knew. He knew that was what he must be. This excited him and terrified him. Despite many advances, the LGBTQ+ community still wasn't completely accepted. What if everyone hated him? To prevent this, Shane took it upon himself to try and "turn" himself straight. He forced himself to like girls. He spent long hours looking at his older brother's Playboy magazines (without his knowledge, of course). But it just made him feel, well, wrong inside. Next, he took the next step, and asked his friend, Aeris, out. Aeris knew he was gay, but she still accepted, wanting him to help him come to terms with it. He held her hand; he kissed her, all that. Never sex, though. He had seen too much of the female body through those magazines. Then, one day, inevitably, Shane cracked. He started crying because he just couldn't do it anymore. He felt like was caging a part of himself, and it was dying in its prison. Aeris let him cry on her shoulder, and once all the tears were spent, Aeris told him gently that she knew, and it was ok. She told him that being gay was ok and it was who he was, and he shouldn't invest so much energy trying to change it, because that was getting him nowhere, and just making him upset. She told him that there was no rush to come out, and he should do it when he felt ready, whether it was now, in a week, or in a few years. Shane took her words to heart and came out in his freshman year of high school. He felt the cage break and fade away, and whatever was trapped inside was finally set free. Then miraculously, the boy he had always had a crush on told him that he was gay, too. He became Shane's first boyfriend. Shane had more boyfriends after, all ending due to various reasons. But through his friend, he had learned to love himself, and he was single once again, but he didn't feel quite so alone as he had before.

As she worked Copeland hummed with the songs that played through the speakers. She rung people up, filled them in on deals and put their items in a bag and told them to have a nice day. Finally, it was time for her break. She made her way to the food court and bought a pretzel and a smoothie for lunch. Copeland dipped her pretzel in cheese and took a bite of it as she walked around the mall.

He took a large swallow of his coffee, mind wandering back to his brother for a moment. Sasha's voice broke him out of it though and he snapped his attention back to the other boy. "What? Hmm...yeah I think we do, not too many hills around here but there's a sizable resort over at the nearest mountains, maybe an hours drive or little more." He explained, leaning back in his chair and folding his arms together. He watched the other male curiously, wondering why he'd be so interested in these sports even though he was more then half blind.

"That does sound kinda cool." He smiled to himself, reaching to grab his hot chocolate and taking a small sip from it, closing his eyes for a moment and sighing rather happily at the sweet and yet warm chocolate taste. The only thing about the place being like an hour away was that he would need someone to drive him over, and his mom sure wouldn't do that. It wasn't her fault, after all she just wanted her son to be safe and sound and certainly having him snowboard or ski wasn't a way of keeping him safe. If it depended on her he guessed she would have made him live inside a bubble or something like that. "Are there any Rock Clubs around this place?" Really he was just craving for a party, and nothing better then one of those rock 'n roll clubs. Loud music, drinks... and all sorts of people just dancing their heads out, ah, that was fantastic.
