Ingo was feeling rather grave, first several deaths, and now even more hassle. She just hoped it was nothing too serious, though a part of her knew it would be. Ingo sighed then loomkked at Rodney and Melody, urging them to get a move on. Sonja was still injured and Ingo wouldn't let her fight on her own.

Rodney scurried over, hoping Melody was coming too. "Immy?" he asked Ingo, using his nickname for her, he wondered what was wrong. He looked at Liam, Rodney was young, but he still was caring, he hoped ntohgng had gone too badly wrong.

Melody scurried up behind Rodney and grabbed his hand, yanking the boy out the door behind her. "Come on," she said, pulling him as she went as fast as she could. "Something's wrong- Sonja doesn't get scared like that. Somebody else will die unless we can stop it."

Liam glanced at Ingo, then stood, wondering what was going on.

Back at the blacksmith's shop, Indigo looked up from her work to see Sonja sprint by. The young woman stood, then loaded her pistols and set out behind her. If there was a fight- well, Indigo wasn't about to back down. She might even start it.

Sonja raced towards the gallows, but upon arrival found nothing there. She sighed with relief and leaned heavily on the woodwork, then stood and sheathed her saber. The guards here would know her on sight- long blond hair, sword, white shirt, brown breeches. She'd been stealing pirates from the gallows for nigh on four years, or more. Sighing, the young woman drew her sword and bent over, pulling her long ponytail over her shoulder. It's a shame, she thought. If everyone must love something about themselves, then for me it's my hair. I suppose it figures. She closed her eyes, and swung the blade. Suddenly her head felt light, and her hand loose. She opened her eyes, opened her fingers, and watched just about ten inches of gold locks fall to the ground. She stood tall and shook her head, trying to get used to the feeling of having chin-length hair. Then she sheathed her sword and set off, pulling on a black cloak as she went. With it, her green tunic, and gray breeches- she was even wearing shoes- she would look respectable, if not entirely ladylike. But it hardly mattered- after all, she was sneaking into a prison to break out a man she'd hardly known for more than a day. Why not cut off her hair and don a cloak?

Sinbad struggled to get at least his hands free. He knew that it was pointless as it kept cutting into his neck and made it harder to breathe. He grounded his teeth, trying to sit up. He pressed his back up against a corner and pulled himself up, the top of his head resting on the wall. He growled at himself for being so stupid. He should have known to pay attention behind him. Just as he had with the blacksmith. It just didn't get in his mind. He closed his eyes, feeling completely and udderly trapped. By morning, he would be a dead sailor. Sinbad the Sailor, killed in Port Royale. He shook his head slightly but it pulled more on his neck.

Sonja swept through the prison's courtyard, pulling her cloak tight against the chill breeze. The weather had been getting colder for a while now, although it had been hot this morning. Winter was coming, creeping slowly in, and soon would be the Harvest Moon Festival. It was september, perhaps, or late, late august. The young woman came to the commander's office and knocked on the man's desk. He looked up from his work and frowned crossly at her. "Sir," she said, "I heard that a man was brought in this morning for killing some of the King's soldiers. I also hear he's destined for the noose. I've got papers for him to sign, to make sure that all his stuff goes to me when he's dead, and not them awful cousins of his." The commander smirked, chuckled, and said, "Up two flights and down the hallway to your left. He's in cell 264."

Sinbad stayed perfectly still, closing his eyes. If he moved, it pulled so much that he would be coughing up at the ceiling. For the first time in a long time, he was finally caught. Something this young man never got the experience for. He kept his breathing shallow, trying not to waste a breath that was given to him. He bit his lip, trying to accept death. But this only made it harder for him.

Sonja smiled at the Commander and nodded, then turned and strode out of his office. As she climbed the stairs, she realized one important fact- she didn't have any keys. Easily remedied, she thought as she spied a guard, but I wish I didn't have to. She swung her hips ever so slightly as she passed him, and the guard wolf-whistled at her. She turned slowly, batting long gold eyelashes. "Was that for me, sweetheart?" she asked, making her voice high and syrupy. She drew closer, one hand inching around his waist. "Because, at the moment, I haven't got a teddy bear to play with..." she unhooked the keys from his belt and tucked them under her cloak. She pulled away, wiggling her fingers at him in farewell. "Ta-ta," she said with a dazzling smile. The guard never knew what hit him- he would have stood there until the crack of doom in another guard hadn't come to take his place.

Sinbad concentrated on the last of life's pleasures in his mind. And one of them was kissing Sonja. He shook his head slightly. I shouldn't be thinking like that. I was the reason her fiancee died. He opened his eyes, straining to wake slightly. He kept falling back asleep in the awkward position he was in. He sighed and turned on his side, his back to the bars.

Sonja swung the keys around one finger and whistled quietly, strolling along the stone corridor. From somewhere, an old song had popped into her head. It was a little bit sad, but still quite nice. "You take the high road, and I'll take the low road, and I'll be in Scotland afore ye..." She had reached the end of the corridor. She glanced into the cell that Commander had told her Sinbad was in, and froze.
It was empty.

Sinbad stayed somewhat curled in his cell. He tapped his nimble fingers against the lower part of his back where he could reach. He was waiting for it now. Anticipating the guards to come and take him to be hung.

Sonja stood for a moment, shocked, until she heard the sounds behind her. The young woman spun, and saw the Commander, flanked by four guards. "You cut your hair, Sabre, and change you clothes," he said. "And you really think we won't recognize you? There's a price on your head that borders on the obscene." He nodded to his guards. "Chain her up." He laughed. "And, for a bit of extra irony, how about we put you in the cell right next to your little sweetheart? That way, you can be hung at dawn together." Sonja fought as the guards grabbed her, even managing to draw her sword, but one of them landed a hard blow to her already cracked ribs and she fell, stunned. She felt them pick her up, chain her hands, and lead her up another set of stairs, but she couldn't do anything about it. The guards tossed her into the cell next to Sinbad's, half-conscious, with her hands shackled behind her back. The forgotten words to the song she had been signing earlier flowed into her head, suddenly- But me and my true love shall never meet again, on the bonny, bonny banks of Loch Lomond.
