Hearing those kind words from Vanilla's mouth just made Aaron smile like an embarrassed fool. He glanced over at the woods as Vanilla spoke, sighing thoughtfully. I wanna say yes to that, but... Aaron shuffled and shifted him position uncomfortably, and it was clear he was thinking about it. ...what if something happened to us? Or happened to Vanilla? That wouldn't end well...but that's not very likely... Without even thinking about it, Aaron blurt out, "Could we stay out here just a bit longer? I don't want to go in just yet. It's just...it's too soon."
Aaron had a sheepish little smile on his face as he looked back at Vanilla. "In other words, I don't think I'm ready to go in right this very second. I'd like to wait awhile longer, maybe when it's just a little bit brighter outside." Aaron hoped Vanilla would understand that, he really did. He pushed his bang out of the way, wondering how Vanilla would react to that. He hoped he wouldn't annoy the poor boy, he hated upsetting people. "Though...if you really want to go in right now, we can go. I mean, what could the harm be? It's just the forest." A few seconds after the words came out, Aaron had second thoughts about it.
Yeah, it's just a dark forest with animals that could hurt us like bucks and possibly bears and snakes. No harm will be done to us at all! Aaron thought, his smile growing a bit. For some reason, that amused him, but he wasn't sure why. Maybe because his slight fear of going in there was kind of silly. Really, though. What could the harm be? It is just a forest, after all. Did Aaron realize Vanilla was making him a bit braver by the minute? No, of course not. He didn't even realize that he was willing to go into those woods, not at all.
