Paisley smiled. "Oh," she said quietly. She wasn't really sure what she had expected him to say, but it definitely wasn't "You're nice." People didn't really call her nice, since she could sometimes come off as rude or standoffish. "Well you're nice too... I guess," she sad, still blushing. She was awful at compliments, both receiving them and giving them.

The boy saw her face fall, and in the second, all he wanted to do was make her happy, and smile. "No, I mean, your...you seem like a good friend...I just..uhm..your nice too!" He looked down at his crust silently. He felt hid cheeks burn. "I mean..." he tried to save it, but it didn't work.

Paisley looked at Liam, shaking her head a little. "Calm down, it's okay!" she laughed. He seemed really nervous. He was blushing, his normally pale cheeks a vibrant shade of pink. She thought it was cute. She thought he was cute. She couldn't help it. Realizing that she was now staring at him, Paisley looked away, and now she was the one who was nervous. You can't like him, all he cares about is school. People like him don't fall in love, she told herself, staring down at her plate.

Liam liked the sound of her laugh, so vibrant. He looked up at her, who wasn't looking at him. He swallowed. I made it awkward... He didn't like this, but he tried to speak. "You have a nice laugh, too." He smiled, a half smile. But he didn't feel anything more than friendliness with this girl. And didn't feel like feeling anything more.

Paisley glanced at him. She really didn't know how to feel about the situation. "Thanks," she said simply, staring down at the table. She noticed that Liam had eaten his pizza, but discarded the crust. It was silent for a while until she managed to speak up. "Why don't you eat the crust? It's the best part," she said, her eyes still focused on his plate.

He smiled whens he tried to change the subject of speech. It really helped. "Oh, I dunno. I just never did, and I always tell myself "why try now when you never tried then?" So I never try it." He tried to think of why he never ate it, but couldn't come up with anything. His mind blank. His mother didn't like the crust either...
