Lexi sighed softly, the afternoon was going by pretty slow. She gently rubbed her belly before glancing at her watch. She could just go on a break but she decided to save it for later.

Emerson parks in front of Dairy Queen. She expects to see some kids from school her so she can invite them to her party tomorrow. It's Thursday, so not many people may be here. She grabs her purse and walks to the door. As she walks in she heads to the bathroom to wash her hands, then she goes to order. "Hello!" She says to the cashier.

Finley walks home from school. Her house is four blocks away, so she doesn't drive. She could use the exercise. She stops at the mailbox and opens in. She grabs and looks through the mail. One has her name on it. A paycheck. Finley had just got a job at the convenience store. First paycheck. She walked down the street home and set her things in her room. She put the mail in the bin, but kept the check. She snapped a picture and posted it on Instagram. First paycheck today! #probablyspentitalready

Lexi looked up and smiled, "Hello welcome to Dairy queen! What can I get for you today?" She shifted her weight to her other foot and looked at the girl, she'd seen her around school before.

Emerson hadn't even looked at the cashier, but up at the menu. She finally looked at the girl and hesitated. "Your Lexi right? From school?" she asked the girl. She looked down at her stomach, but quickly glanced back up and smiled.

Lexi smiled, "Alexis, and yea." She looked at her, "Emerson right?" She raised one of her eyebrows. Lexi carefully fixed her hair which was slipping from it's bun. She glanced back at the girl in front of her.

She nodded her head and said, "Yea, I'm Emerson. Not to be rude, but there's people waiting behind me. Can I get a small fudge cone and a pop, please? She look at the girl and then back up to the menu. She reached in to her purse and grabbed a ten. That should cover it. She thought to herself.

Alexis nodded and quickly got the order in, then gave her the change. She motioned to the empty space where people waited for meals or grabbed numbers after handing her the receipt.

She thanked Lexi and took a number. 23. Before she left she slid Lexi an invite to her party. "You should come tomorrow. Could be fun!" She took her change and put it in her purse. Then, she took her purse and number card, grabbed a cup and filled it. She sat down and waited for her order to come.

Lexi looked down at the party invite and slid it into her pocket before finishing the orders and going on break. She sat in the corner at a small booth and picked at her lunch before deciding she wasn't really hungry. She hated working at DQ with so many judgmental people but she needed the job. She sighed and looked at the invite.

She grabbed her phone and started looking on her social media apps. She went on Twitter and told people about her party. How it was invite only, but those who had an invite could +1. Then she went on Instagram and saw Finley's picture. She liked it and kept scrolling. Finally her order came and she ate it. When she was done she threw it away and filled up her half full cup. Then, she walked out to her car and drove home to get ready for the party.
