Wyatt brought the phone to his ear even almost before he had finished punching in those three simple numbers. His mind was racing; outwardly, he was calm in emergencies, but on the inside his heart was pounding and his brain running through a million thoughts. Talking to the dispatcher, he fumbled over words and took forever to remember the closest intersection the their location inside that thicket of trees. He had only lived here for a couple of months.

His phone returned to his pocket when the call ended. "They're on their way," he told this boy; he didn't even know if the boy could hear him. What did he do in this situation? His topaz eyes lingered on the blood, staring at where the flow was largest. Hands still shaking, he gently touched one of the stranger's hands. "Let me put pressure on the wound," he suggested. "To stop the bleeding."

"It doesn't matter what happened," Wyatt said with haste in his tone, quickly grabbing the leash he had dropped and hooking it back onto Rags' collar to insure he wouldn't run off again. He kneeled on the slack and then proceeded to take off his hooded jacket; he'd use it so that he didn't have to touch the wound directly, and to absorb some of the blood. "Save the story for later, for the police report." He balled up the jacket and covered the incision, putting all of his slight weight onto it, pressing with both hands.

"For now, just talk to me while you can." He knew that much, that if the boy fell asleep, or slipped out of consciousness, it wouldn't be a good sign. It would be a sign that he was bleeding out.

Okay, apparently this kid wasn't going to offer anything up on his own. Still, Wyatt needed to get a conversation going. His eyes noted the knife, but that wasn't something he was going to mention. "My name's Wyatt," his voice was just as calm as ever, soft even. "And this little cutie is Rags," he continued, vaguely gesturing at the puppy, who was laying down, but sniffing at the boy still. "What's your name?" Wyatt prompted.

His thoughts were still racing, running in circles. How long would it take for the EMTs to find them? Not only was this an obscure part of the park, but he wasn't entirely positive he had gotten the intersections right. That could potentially be a problem...
